The easiest technology available when it comes to blogs is called Tumblr.com. In about 60 seconds, you can go on tumblr.com, and set up a username and password and set up a blog.

It shouldn't take anymore time than that because it's as easy to use and acts exactly like a Facebook account.

With the simple push of a button you suddenly have a blog where you can add pictures, graphics and videos.

It acts like a social feed, the same way Facebook does. Other people with blogs can start following and connecting to you and vice versa. Tumblr can post directly to Facebook for you, so right away you can create a blog and post it to Facebook with no extra steps.

Another option is to use WordPress, but this will require a little bit more time and effort. You might need a little bit of professional help with a WordPress account.

Also, Facebook and Google love when you use 'native advertising content' where you're creating Facebook ads and Google adwords to drive to your blog content.

Don’t let this slip from your mind, with a blog, the mission is not to sell. The mission is to Educate, Entertain and Empower. What I like to call the 3 E’s.

You want your content to be more story telling instead of boring, technical writ-ing.

Tell stories. Use metaphors. Share success stories about your cli-ents. Talk about your life and all the things that are important and relevant to your tribe of people. You don't want your message to be random.

Remember you are always trying to gear everything to what is relevant to your tribe.

And at the bottom of your blogs you want to start creating lead boxes or lead page links that allow a person sign up to receive more of the content you're providing by opting in to your email list.

All of your content has to lead back to your opt-ins so you can grow your list. This is how you build one of the most powerful assets your business can have- the email list.

If you don’t have opt-ins set up and aren't driving traffic to them, you are just putting content out there without actually building your list. If you're not build-ing your list, then you’ll never actually get to communicate with new clients or make sales to them.

Always think about how to add those opt-in pages.

Starting a newsletter is as simple as going to constantcontact.com or fiverr.com and getting a template set up.

Constant Contact has templates of newsletters that you can use that are done for you. Those look good and are easy to manage. Only drawback is if you’re using another email provider you'll have to manage two email lists, which is a bit of a pain. The preferred alternative is hiring someone from fiverr.com to build a HTML newsletter that you can load up into email management system and this way you only have to manage one email list.

So use Constant Contact or Fiverr.com or Google HTML newsletters and you’ve got the newsletter platform set up.

Just like with your blogs, the most important thing inside your email newslet-ter is to Educate, Entertain, and Empower. You can include stuff about travel, high performance, marketing, leadership, communication and even little puzzles.

If you stick to just technical stuff, no one will subscribe to your newsletter. And by all means always ensure that your newsletter is adding value. Remember that the more you can narrow your content and direct it to your sub-niche the better.

Pretty much anybody can set up a Facebook, Instagram and Twitter account.

When it comes to Facebook make sure that you're creating business pages in Facebook and your other so-cial media. A business social media page is even more important than your website. There's a greater chance people will find you on Facebook than your own website. Plus Facebook now also ranks in Google.

More and more people interact with Facebook, so having a Facebook business page is a critical step.

Compared to your website, setting it up is free to do and the only expenses you'll have will be to drive traffic to it with ads and content.

Websites and Opt-ins

Websites can be more costly and can be a little bit more of a pain. They can range from a couple grand into the tens of thousands of dollars. Unless you really know how to go in and create those yourself, it’s better to go with the template version.

Another option that's great is to just focus on using Lead Pages as an opt-in platform.

Lead pages is a template system the creates your opt-in pages and your funnel pages. They're more template based and one good resource is leadpages.net.

The most important thing is to not let a graphic designer design your website and opt in-pages. Instead, go with a marketer to design it. That way they can focus on integrating your content in a way that will entice your clients to sign up and opt-in to your email list and your newsletter.

Remember, you want to focus on your tribe and entice them with a relevant report so they opt-in.

If you're talking to people about back pain, write a PDF report of your top five strategies for relieving back pain. You want to create something that delivers value in exchange for their valuable contact information. And it needs to be integrated to your site so they hand their information over.

Simple opt in pages are standalone sites.

AOL, Yahoo and Gmail are great for personal use but not for your business.

When it comes to choosing and building your business email servers, you want to utilize Aweber, InfusionSoft, Mail Chimp, or Icontact. These allow you to build an email list where you don't have to worry about the nuts and bolts of sending the emails.

Part of the business of going online is learning how to automate. Email management systems do just that.

They allow you to create sub-lists and categories and to congregate people. These powerful email engines allow you to create auto-responders as you start to build email sequences, that’s more communica-

tion on auto pilot and that means freedom for you!

A quick heads up, Mail Chimp is free so it’s a good one to use when you start out. Aweber is around 29 bucks a month depending upon how many contacts you have. Infusionsoft is probably the best but it's expensive.

Infusionsoft is literally a small business management system that does everything. It collects money, sends out reminders, and texts peo-ple among other things.

Whichever you choose, you’ve got to get serious about finding the right tools.

Your email marketing is the gateway to start communicating to your tribe consistently. Start small by sending out an email once a week directing them to your blog, a new article or send a newsletter.

The important thing is that you have a call to action in all of them so you are always driving towards building your list.
