Overview
• Software Developed By Hughes Associated, Inc.– ECS/9300, ADS/PHX, FE-13
• Kidde-Fenwal Developed Software– 3M™ NOVEC ™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid
– Argonite
![Page 3: 5 Software Instruction K-F Final(1)](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051401/563dbbb3550346aa9aaf78e3/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
3
Equivalent Length
• When a fluid flows through a section of pipe, pressure is lost
• When a fluid flows through a fitting or other piping object, pressure is also lost
– This loss is usually expressed in equivalent feet of pipe
![Page 4: 5 Software Instruction K-F Final(1)](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051401/563dbbb3550346aa9aaf78e3/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
4
Hydraulic Calculation Method
• The design software calculates the pressure lost in each pipe section due to:
– the actual length of pipe
– the equivalent length of any objects
– the change in elevation (gravity)
![Page 5: 5 Software Instruction K-F Final(1)](https://reader034.vdocuments.us/reader034/viewer/2022051401/563dbbb3550346aa9aaf78e3/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)

– Nitrogen cylinders are connected only to the Actuation Assembly
– Same rules apply
– Design interface is the same
