Work Plan :

Phase wise plan of work achieved.

First Phase :

◘ Synthesis of p-hydroxy cinnamic acid, p-n-alkoxy cinnamic acid and p-n-alkoxy cinnamoyl

Chloride.

◘ Synthesis of Ethylene derivatives.

◘ Totally 33 new compounds are synthesized (Series-1,2 & 3)

◘ Liquid crystal properties are observed through an optical hot stage polarizing microscopy of

homologues of homologous series 1,2 & 3.

◘ To draw phase diagram for homologous series-1,2 & 3.

.◘ To determine Texture of smectic and nematic by Miscibility Method.

Second Phase:

◘ Synthesis of p-n-alkoxy benzoyl chloride.

◘ Synthesis of Ethylene derivatives.

◘ To draw Phase diagram of homologous series-7 & 8.

Fourth Phase:

◘ Carried out NMR and IR spectra testing.

◘ Elemental analysis C,H,N of Series 1 to 8 for selected homologues.

◘ Mesomorphic range calculated.
