5 Must-Try Makati City Restaurants

Other than looking for accommodation in Makati City, you may want to know what you can eat in this bustling city. Fortunately, Makati is actually teeming with great restaurants and some of them can't be found inside a Makati City hotel. To help you out, here's a list of 5 restaurants you should check out:

Little Tokyo. Found at the corner of Fernando Street and Don Chino Roces Road, or Pasong Tamo, this is not just one Japanese restaurant. Rather, it is a compound of Japanese dining places specializing in different dishes, from the takoyaki in Hana to the sushi and sashimi at Seryna. The restaurants here offer such good, authentic food that Japanese expats themselves frequent the place.

Sentro 1771. This restaurant is not only a great place for foreign guests to have their first taste of Filipino cuisine. With reinvented classics like Sinigang na Corned Beef a twist on a traditional Filipino dish with sour broth it is also a must-try for Filipino foodies. The restaurant is located on the second floor of Greenbelt 3 mall, with another branch at Serendra in Taguig City.

Cheese Steak Shop. Located at the ground floor of The E-Hotel Makati along A. Arnaiz Street, this is the only branch of the American restaurant chain in the Philippines. Offering their famous Classic Philly Cheese Steak served on buns from 7 to 15 inches, this restaurant is a must-try for carnivores everywhere.

Amici. This restaurant may now have branches all over the metropolis, yet the original one inside the Don Bosco School is still open to this day, albeit with updated interiors. Originally established by the Salesian brothers as a canteen to train out-of-school youth in the culinary arts, it has become a runaway success in serving traditional Italian cuisine. While it is now under new management, it has been able to maintain the quality of its food, offering specialties like Al Quattro Formaggi Pizza and gelato in different flavors.

Cirkulo. For a taste of tapas and other Spanish favorites, try out this restaurant also found along A. Arnaiz Street. With acclaimed chef J. Gamboa at the helm, it is no surprise that it is listed in the 2011/2012 edition of the Miele Guide to Asia's Finest Restaurants. While a meal here may seem quite expensive when compared to other establishments, it is a unique culinary experience worth splurging for.

These are just some of the best restaurants in the area, so don't just rely on the food served in your accommodation in Makati. Go out, explore, and eat to your heart's content!
