We passionately celebrate attendance at our kura. Every week, the class who has the best attendance proudly receives the attendance trophy at our whole school assembly. This trophy was made and donated to the school by one of our fabulous whānau.

This was followed by a delicious kai which we all enjoyed together. We had a fantastic turnout with well over a hundred people attending. In small groups, teachers shared games and activities that catered for a wide range of abilities. Whānau were given packs of activities to take home. Our values of Whanaungatanga and Ako in action!

At the end of every term, we reward students who have attended between 95-100% with a movie and popcorn. For Term 3, there we had 185 tamariki attend, which is 50% of our kura!

In Term 3, we had a very successful ‘Math and a Meal’ evening. Whānau were invited to come with their tamariki to learn more about maths teaching and learning and experience fun games to play with their tamariki that support and develop their math knowledge.

Kī o Rahi

At our kura we have Whānau Groups - Whero, Kākāriki, Kōwhai and Kikorangi. To promote genuine opportunities for tuakana-teina, each Whānau Group has Year 1 to Year 6 students and is located within the same block of classrooms.

This term, we have had two amazing kaiako visiting our kura - Justin and Kerira. They have been teaching our tamariki some new waiata and how to sing some we already knew even better. We have also learnt some pretty tricky actions for the waiata. Kairangi and Ako in action at our kura!

We are extremely excited to be able to offer a bilingual pathway in Te reo Māori in 2020. This will be available for Year 5 and 6 tamariki and will be taught by the talented and capable Monica Topia. Our kura is extremely lucky to have her as part of our whānau.

This term we have had some tutors come and teach how to play Kī o Rahi to our Year 5 and 6 kaiako and tamariki. Everyone absolutely loved it!
