Presented by Crouse Hospital, Valley Hockey's 4th Annual Turkey Tourney will include

teams from Camillus, Lysander, Midstate, Rome, Skaneateles, Utica, and Valley. The Red and White teams will each play 4 half-ice games, while the Blue teams will play 6 cross-ice games. The tourney will be held at the Onondaga Nation Arena and at Meachem Rink.

Brackets, locations, and times are printed in this program and are posted on our website at www.valleyyouthhockey.com. There will be raffle baskets and tasty home-made food available at both rinks. The Onondaga Nation Arena's excellent snack shop will also be open with many choices!

November 29, 2014 Dear Tourney Families, Welcome to Valley Youth Hockey's 4th Annual Turkey Tournament! I'd like to thank our Tournament Director, Trish Porter, and the TT Committee: Mike Shaffer, Eric Porter, Audra Pelsue, Mary Pat Walsh, Dean Lattof, and Lillian Jeng for all of their efforts to make this a great event. Thank you, also, to Zach Jones at the Onondaga Nation Arena for his organizational help. I am so pleased that we were fortunate enough to have a Lead Sponsor this year in Crouse Hospital. We are grateful to all of our sponsors for their generous support of Valley Hockey. Thank you! The original concept of this event was to introduce friendly competition for mite players and to showcase the skills that they are developing in this great sport. We hope it is an opportunity for players and coaches from CNY to get to know one another. After all, with any luck we will be facing each other for years to come. Thank you for participating!

Tournament Format and Rules (general)

4 game guarantee Teams must be prepared to go on ice 15 minutes prior to game time Games will be half ice for Red and White Division and Cross ice for Blue division Competition will be 4 on 4 (a dressed goalie is required for the Red and White Division) Games will consist of two 20-minute running time periods for Red and White Division Horn every two minutes for line changes Blue Division will play 20 minute games in a Mini Jam Format One referee will officiate each game No off-sides, icing or time-outs Penalties will be called and result in a change of possession Penalties assessed will result in a penalty shot at the conclusion of the game Center ice face-offs at the start of each game, after each line change and period.

Red and White Tournament Format

All games will be half ice 6 team division - three division games 2 points for win, 1 point for tie, 0 points for loss Tiebreaker - head to head, most wins, goals for, goals against, fewest penalties In the event of a tie in a Championship game there will be a 10 minute sudden victory overtime

period immediately following the game If there is no goal in overtime there will be a 5 player shootout Individual medals for all participants. Team trophies to Winning Team and Runner-up.

From the West: Take the New York State Thruway east to Exit 39. Go through toll booth and follow signs to Interstate 690 East. Take I-690 to Exit 13 for Interstate 81 South. Take Interstate 81 south through downtown Syracuse to Exit 17 (S. Salina/Brighton Ave). At the end of the exit ramp, follow signs to Salina Street. Turn left on Salina Street. Go about 1 mile. Turn right at the Mobil Station onto Seneca Turnpike. Make a quick left turn into the ice rink parking lot. From the East: Take the New York State Thruway west to Exit 34A. Follow signs onto Route 481 South. Take 481 south to Exit 1 (Brighton Avenue). Turn left onto Brighton Avenue. Go up hill. Turn right at the

Mobil Station onto Seneca Turnpike. Go down winding hill and through the traffic light at the bottom of the hill. Just past the light, make a quick left turn into the rink parking lot. From the South: Take Interstate 81 North to Exit 16 (Nedrow/Onondaga Nation). At the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto Route 11. Go through Nedrow, pass the Green Hills Supermarket on your right. Turn left at Seneca Turnpike (there is a True Value Hardware store, a Mobil, and a Blockbuster Video at the intersection.) Make a quick left into the rink parking lot. From the North: Take Interstate 81 south to Exit 17 (S. Salina/Brighton Ave). At the end of the exit ramp, follow signs to Salina Street. Turn left on Salina Street. Go about 1 mile. Turn right at the Mobil Station onto Seneca Turnpike. Make a quick left turn into the ice rink parking lot.

Tsha'hon'nonyen'dakhwa' or Onondaga Nation Arena • 326 State Route 11A • Nedrow, NY 13120 Take Route 81 South to Nedrow exit (exit 16). Take right at end of exit ramp. The rink is on your right about 0.4 miles down the road. If using GPS, the most reliable address to put in is the following geographic coordinates: 42.966147, -76.139417 If you use any text address you may end up in a residential loop on the wrong side of 81, downtown Syracuse, anywhere... but not at the rink. This includes Google directions apps -- they don’t always work here.
