SUMMER THEATRE CAMP Be a part of our summer production of “Godspell” This four week theatre camp affords the budding performer the opportunity to explore their creativity while strengthening their skills in acting, voice and dance. Students will work with a team of professionals under the direction of Paul VI High School’s theatre staff and the Next Stage Dance & Drama Academy. Open To Students Entering Grades 7 & 8, Current PVI Students and PVI Alumni. July 5-29 Monday–Thursday 6:00–9:30 p.m. Cost $50.00 (Non Refundable) This will be hosted in our state of the art auditorium and one-of-a-kind professional dance studio. No auditions. Paul VI Pre 9th GradePrograms

There are four weeklong sessions:*

Session 1: July 5–July 8; Session 2: July 11–July 14; Session 3: July 18–July 21; Session 4: July 25–July 28

Introduction to iPadStudents in this course will learn and enhance technology skills thatwill help them succeed as a student at Paul VI. Students will receivetheir iPad during this course and will explore many of Paul VI’sprograms and apps that will be utilized each day in the classroom.

Summer Reading EnrichmentIn this course, students will review their summer reading novels fortheir freshmen English classes. Students will discuss novels and lookat writing topics based on literature. Mock quizzes will be given tohelp students prepare for high school caliber tests. Academic andcreative writing will be addressed as well.

Math ReinforcementStudents entering 9th grade will beexposed to core concepts from Pre-Algebra in order to prepare forentrance into Intermediate Algebra I.A variety of topics will be covered inorder to put students at ease for thecoming year including fractions,integers, and algebraic expressions.

The Next American Idol: Music RecordingCost $250

Record your own single! Learn about theprocess that goes into producing a song,including sound basics, computer systems,software, microphones, mixing boards,audio interfaces, preamps, compression,reverb, and equalization. By thecompletion of class you will haverecorded and mixed your very own single.

Requirements: Have some experience withmusic as an instrumentalist or as a singer. Also,students must bring a pair of headphones with amini jack and a flash drive for storing their projects. Classsize is limited to 5 students. Students wishing to have additional time to addmore elements to their project, adding more songs, or have additionalindividual instruction can do so for an extra fee. See session choices below.

Tech Wiz: Technology EnhancementCost $130

This one week course will allow students to further explore their tabletcomputers. Students will look at research tools such as internet databases,online journals, as well as MLA formatting. This will give students a jumpstarton research papers that will be covered in sophomore, junior, and senioryears. Students will also be exposed to website design, blogging, and practicalwriting such as resume writing. See session choices below.

Paul VI Summer Camp for7th and 8th Grade

July 5–July 29 Mondays–Thursdays* Cost $450 (includes all materials) 9 am–12 pm

(4 classes for 4 weeks)Students will get a taste of high school while spending the summerat Paul VI. They will work with Paul VI teachers to enhance skillslearned in middle school and build on those in anticipation of highschool requirements in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

Building Blocks: Math Tools & SkillsThe Pre 7th and 8th grade math program will look at skills in middleschool math. Students will also be exposed to algebra and geometry.

Math games and projects will be utilized.

Through the Looking Glass:Reading Appreciation

The Pre 7th and 8th grade language artsprogram will address reading compre-hension and writing skills. Students willread 2–3 level appropriate novels and

discuss them in class. Students will re-spond to reading through journaling and

other projects.

The Pen Is Mightier: Creative WritingCampers will explore their creative side as they write short stories,poems, and plays. They will share their stories in a workshop, actthem out, and even publish an anthology oftheir work.

Sound Smarts:Music Appreciation

Learn the basics of music theoryand a brief history of music fromGregorian chant to currentmusic, with a concentration onpop music starting from the 1920s.Campers will listen to a variety ofmusic and will present a project during thelast week of class about their favorite band, music, or singer. Studentswill also have the opportunity to experiment with a variety ofinstruments with the assistance of Paul VI music students and staff.

SAT Prep Course Cost $450July 5– July 28* Monday-Thursday 9 am-12 pm

This class is designed for students entering 11th and 12th grades whowould like to improve their scores on their SAT. Students will receiveinstruction in both Math and Verbal. Practice tests will be given andstudents will be given strategies to master the tests.
