SC Swing to Connect

Simple and quick connection with no force or loss of pressure in the system:Operation of OETIKER swing coupling SC

DisconnectionPull back orange ring and swing plug to stop.Remove plug from coupling.

In order to prevent the hose from ejectingdangerously, the plug must be held in thehand until the hose is completely ventilated.

ConnectionPush suitable plug into coupling and swingapproximately 90º until the orange ringengages in the groove.

Lubricants

All OETIKER couplings are greased with thestandard high quality silicone-free lubricant.

Seals

The following quality seals are available forOETIKER couplings. Various seals can beused depending upon the throughput media.All details are not binding. Before use,please contact OETIKER for information aboutthe concentration, mixture or temperature of media. If there is any doubt, trials shouldbe carried out. All legislation relating tofoodstuffs must be observed.

Standard Type

Type N Nitrile elastomer (NBR)Resistant to ageing, high mechanicalstrength, resistant to oil and fuel.Temperature from -4ºF to +212ºF(-20ºC to +100ºC).

Optional Seals

Type V Fluorine elastomer (FPM)Very good resistance at high temperatures(except for hot water and steam).Good resistance to many chemicals, ozone,weather. Temperature from -4ºF to +554ºF (-15ºC to +200ºC).

Type P Ethylene propylene elastomer (EPDM)Very good resistance against hot water andsteam, resistant to ageing and weather,not resistant to mineral oils and grease.Temperature from -40ºF to +302ºF (-40ºC to +150ºC).

Materials

OETIKER swing couplings are manufacturedfrom high quality materials. Additional specialsurface treatments guarantee greater durability with less wear and tear and highresistance to corrosion.The orange coating denotes safety – the plastic sleeve gives increased grip and helpsto protect the work piece from possibledamage. The cross section and materialcodes give details of the composition of eachindividual part.In the case of air, gas and oil – as long as theyare not mixed with any additives – OETIKERcouplings made from standard materials willbe suitable.These details are not binding. Where there isany doubt, trials must be carried out.

Note about SafetyISO 6150 §7.1 recommends that a hose ofat least 300 mm in length is used betweenthe coupling and a vibrating tool. Pleasealso read the operating instructions whichare supplied with the coupling.Note about OrderingIf, instead of the standard version, anoptional seal is required, please specifythis when ordering.

Selection and HandlingIncorrect handling or the wrong choice ofswing couplings or accessories can result indamage to property and/or personal injury.The maximum operating pressure for eachmodel as specified by the manufacturer mustnot be exceeded. The throughput medium isa critical factor in the choice of seal andcoupling material. External mechanicalimpact and/or vibration will have an adverseeffect on the durability of couplings andaccessories and should therefore be avoidedor, where this is not possible, limited.OETIKER recommends that couplings andaccessories should be checked periodicallyfor excessive wear and leaks.OETIKER Customer Service Department willbe happy to give you further details aboutthe use of OETIKER couplings.For more detailed information, please followthe Operating Instructions.
