    Morning Session 1: Sexual Health in Recovery: Improving Drug and AlcoholTreatment with Sex/Drug-Linked Relapse PreventionPresenter: Douglas Braun-Harvey, MFT, CGP, CSTSan Diego, CA

    Workshop participants will be able to name the eight key concepts of sexual healthin recovery, describe the three-stage Sexual Health in Recovery Pathway forcreating an individualized client sex/drug-linked relapse prevention plan, and learnsex/drug-linked relapse prevention skills through experiential exercises.

    Morning Session 2: Creating a Welcoming and Affirming Foster Care

    Workshop participants will learn about the process of starting an organizational

    discussion around serving LGBT families and youth in foster care; why LGBT peopleare an amazing resource for children in need of a family setting, debunking themyths about LGBT parenting; and the importance of creating a welcoming andaffirming environment for LGBT families, along with practical tips.

    Morning Session 3: An Unexpected Closet: Responding to Same-SexDomestic ViolencePresenters: Chad Mosher, Ph.D., andTonya Thompson, LPCUniversity of Phoenix

    Workshop participants will leave with the ability to apply LGBTQI culturallyappropriate concepts to domestic violence theories and concepts, identify anddefine concepts related to same-sex domestic violence, and plan culturallyappropriate responses when working with victims and perpetrators of same-sexdomestic violence.

    Morning Session 4: Psychological Intervention with Transgender and Gender-variant Children and Their FamiliesPresenter: Richard Muszynski, Ph.D., Clinical PsychologistPrivate Practice

    Workshop participants will become aware of World Professional Association for

    Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care and the Report of the AmericanPsychological Association (APA) Task Force on Gender Identity and Gender Variance;be able to assess family dynamic configurations of parents of gender-variant andtransgender children; and be able to assess cognitive-emotional schemas oftransgender and gender-variant children, and utilize strategies to help childrenadopt healthier cognitive-emotional schemas.

    Afternoon Session 1:Man, I Am: Demystifying the Female-to-Male

    Transition for Behavioral Healthcare Providers

    Presenters: Julian Melson and Courtney Penniman, MSW, LISAC, CADAC, ICADC

    Workshop participants will learn basic terminology, language, and concepts of

    Female-to-Male (FTM) transgender populations; be able to distinguish between

    biological sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation; and identify current

    therapeutic standards of care and approaches to working with FTM clients from an

    experiential viewpoint.

    Afternoon Session 2: Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Collaboration SuicidePrevention

    This workshop will discuss the GLS Collaboration, which aims to change/shift the

    social norms around suicide and suicidal ideation among youth and the community

    in which they are a part. Participants will learn about sources of strength, stressors,

    stigma, warning signs, and effective marketing strategies using GLSEN Lunch Box

    Trainings and practical resources.

    Afternoon Session3: Working with LGBTQI2-S Youth & Young Adults:Creating Meaning and Coherency of the Behavioral Health System fromthe Perspectives of Being a Therapist and a Gay Adoptive DadDavid P. Sanchez, Psy.D., LMFT-CA/NV, LAMFT-AZSouthwest NetworkPhoenix, AZ

    Workshop participants will learn general information to enhance individual andorganizational cultural competency when working with LGBTQI2-S (Lesbian, Gay,Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, Two-Spirited) youth and young adults,and about the contents of the Working with LGBTQI2-S Youth & Young Adults WhitePaper from a Family Voice perspective.

    Afternoon Session 4: Serving LGBTQ Survivors of Violence A PracticalApproach for Mental Health ProvidersErin Russ and Kristi SmithWingspan

    Workshop participants will learn about fostering awareness of issues and challengesfacing LGBTQ survivors, barriers faced by LGBT survivors, techniques and resourcesto assist LGBTQ survivors of violence, and how to identify resources available to

    them in serving identified or suspected LGBTQ survivors of violent situations andhow to assist the survivor in accessing these services.
