Resident of the Month

Melba Caylor is one of the delightful ad-ditions to our Legacy Village Family. She was born to E.J. and Millie

Boehmer and has grown up in Cleve-land, Tennessee. She was the baby of ten children. As a child she liked to roller skate and play on the “black top” next to her house with her siblings.

Melba was married to Alvin “Snow” Caylor for 56 years. She has two chil-dren, Janet, and Eddie, five grandchil-dren, and two great-grandchildren. Throughout her life her family has been her primary social circle and focus of her nurturing heart. Her favorite thing

to do is visiting her favorite place, her mountain home in Blue Ridge, Georgia with her family. She also enjoys vaca-tioning in Panama Beach.

Some of her hobbies are shopping, go-ing to yard sales, and finding “out of the way” shops to explore. She is a lifetime member of North Cleveland Church of God and part of the Unity Class there. She is described by her loved ones as always being a nurturing caregiver to her family, especially to one of her brothers, as well as being strong and determined.

Melba’s dry wit and creative mind has and will continue to be a blessing to all who have the privilege of engaging with her. She has a charm about her that is a joy to behold.

NEWSLETTER | JULY 2020

Greetings to our resi-dents, family members and friends of Legacy Village of Cleveland. Can

you believe that we are halfway through 2020? I sure can’t! The first half of the year is not what I would have expect-ed or hoped for, but I am believing for a healthy and peaceful second half of 2020.

As we enter the second half of the year, with it comes the hotter weather, so be sure you are hydrating appropriately by drinking several glasses of water a day. This will keep you from getting dehy-drated. And if you don’t necessarily love drinking “plain ol’ water”, maybe add some fruit to it. A nice slice of lemon will give it a little zip! Did you know you

can also get your water through eating? Many fruits and vegetables – such as cucumbers, celery, tomatoes, radishes, bell peppers, watermelon, strawber-ries and grapefruit – give us 20 to 30 percent of our needed water. So that’s great news!

In closing, my prayer for us all is that as we celebrate our Independence Day – the 4th of July – we see the positive in our great nation and hope for tomor-row. In the meantime,

“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face to-ward you and give you peace.”’ – Numbers 6:24-26

As we continue through our ex-traordinary expe-rience of 2020, I suppose it would be a good idea to examine our-selves to see just

how well we are progressing in our walk with our Lord. If we aren’t care-ful, we can find that instead of grow-ing each day, we are simply holding on to what we had yesterday. While that was good for yesterday, we need to be living with both eyes fo-cused on today and our future.

“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you...?” (2 Corinthians 13:5 NIV). Sometimes we would rather have someone tell us what, when, where, and how we should accomplish this examination, but in reality that is what God expects us to do individ-ually. When we understand that we can’t go over, under, or around it, we can finally go ahead and go through it.

This test should not only be con-cerned with whether or not we are

believers but also whether or not we are obedient believers. Do we find ourselves neglecting time with Him? Do we ask Him what He thinks about our situation? Do we neglect sim-ple acts of kindness or generosity? Scripture doesn’t give us a checklist of do’s and don’t’s but does expect us to be able to listen to what our Lord is speaking to us. God wants to be intricately involved with each and every one of us, and not just when we have exhausted every other choice, but He wants to be our first option.

God spoke to young Samuel, but he didn’t recognize who was calling to him. God still speaks to us today. Learn to hear His voice. “...he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice,” (John 10:4 KJV).

He wants to have close fellowship with us. “...if any man hears my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him...” (Rev. 3:20 KJV). It’s our duty to let Him in, then all heaven breaks loose.
