The History of Electricity - A Multimedia PresentationThe invention o electricity is only a ew hundredyears old and in the beginning it was not usedto power our homes. The telegraph crews whostrung telegraph lines on poles that ran alongthe train tracks were among the rst to reportunpleasant side eects o electricity. Theseworkers complained o headaches, atigue, jointpain and other ailments that were not sueredby the workers who were setting the railroad ties.Later on, the next wave o unexplained illnessesmaniested in the Bell telephone switchboardoperators who placed the jacks manually intosockets to “connect” the electricity rom onephone to the other. These symptoms were thencalled ”neurasthenia.”

Soon inventors such as Tesla, Hertz and Marconibegan transmitting electricity without wires whichled to the development o radio, radar, x-rays andmicrowave ovens. Initially, wireless electricity wasused or military purposes and the workers whowere exposed to this orm o wireless microwaveradiation also experienced neurasthenia. TheSoviet Union called it “radio wave sickness”and studied the eect EMF had on the humanbody. They built medical devices to counter theharmul eects and used electromagnetic wavesto heal.

Electricity - In The Ground

Few people realize that more than 50% o the

electricity that is generated at power plants and

then sent to cities via transmission lines will

return to its source via the earth. This is called

“ground current” or “stray voltage” and was rst

noticed on dairy arms because it reduced milkyield and aected the health o dairy cattle.

Recently it has been reported to fow along city

sidewalks causing dogs to be electrocuted.

Our electrical grid system has also become

When you hold a cell phone to your head orlong periods o time, do you get a headache?You might be electro-sensitive (ES) to yourphone. Although headaches are commonsymptoms o sensitivity to EMF, others reactin a much more dramatic way.
