The Lesson:Working in Groups of four,students will visithttp://www.parks.ca.govwhere they will choose aState Park to research.Navigating through a list ofapproved websites, theywill find answers to researchquestions provided in their“Adventure Guide”.
NETS Performance Indicator 10:Demonstrate the ability tonavigate in virtual environmentssuch as electronic books,simulation software, and Websites. (6)
NETS Performance Indicator 3:
Engage in learning activitieswith learners from multiplecultures through e-mail and otherelectronic means. (2, 6)
3. The students will create a brochure in Word containing:
A hand-drawn map of the park’s location
Three things that make the park special
Description of the nature and ecology of the park, including wildlife
History of the park, including people and groups that have lived where thepark is today
Description of an environmental issue facing the park with a possiblesolution
NETS Performance Indicator 2: Identify,research, and collect data on an environmentalissue using digital resources and propose adevelopmentally appropriate solution. (1, 3, 4)
NETS Performance Indicator 4:In a collaborative work group, use a varietyof technologies to produce a digitalpresentation or product in a curriculumarea. (1, 2, 6)
4. Finally, each group will presentto the class what they learned andshare the brochure they produced.
