С п о ч а т к уцентральне місце в культісвятого Димитрія займав йогоківорій, який в житїі і чудесахсвятого описується як місце,звідки святий спілкувався звіруючими. Пізніше акцентзмістився на поклоніннямощам святого, які з середини

11 століття шанувалися якмироточиві. З а р а з м о щ і

зберігаються в північній навібазиліки у мармуровомуківорії, створеному замістьвтраченого під час пожежі в 7столітті срібного (це другиймармуровий ківорій святогоДимитрія, перший бувзнищений у 1430 році під часзахоплення міста турками).

Thessalonica was locat

at the intersection of two majRoman roads, one leading froItaly eastward (Ignatia Way) athe other from the Danube to tAegean. Thessalonica’s locatiand use as a port made it prominent city. stand that the healthy citizen aware-ness of the nation has positive aspects because it guar-antees the rights of all Churches and religious organiza-tions. However, on the other hand, the extreme secular-ism, which forbids any expression of religious life, isunacceptable. And so we have gathered here together inorder to exchange our views, to safeguard the freedomof conscience and the freedom of religion in Europe,”emphasized His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

On the eve of the closing of the Assembly,UGCC Head led the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chry-sostom, during which all participants of the event par-

ticipated. According to the Primate of the Greek-Catholic Church, this happened for the first time.“Today for the first time in the history of the GeneralAssembly of the Presidents of the European Confer-ence of Bishops, all the gathered prayed in the Liturgyof our rite. In such a way we wanted to commemoratethe 1150th anniversary of the arrival of Sts. Cyril andMethodius to do missionary work in these areas. Dueto the fact that these saints brought with them the Byz-antine Liturgy and prayed in such a manner as the onethat we proposed to the General Assembly, I think that

The choice of Slovakia as a place of an annumeeting of the leaders of the European bishoprics wnot accidental. They arrived here at the invitation the local bishop in order to commemorate the 1150anniversary of evangelical mission of Saints Cyril anMethodius on these lands.☦

Єпископських Конференцій Європи, учасники якої обговорювали тему

« Бог і держава. Європа між світськістю та лаїцизмом».

«Ці питаннясьогодні є в центрі суспільноїдискусії України, зокрема вк о н т е к с т і п і д г о т о в к и д опідписання Угоди про асоціацію. Зодного боку, згідно з навчаннямПапи Венедикта ХVI, ми розуміємо, що здоровасвітськість держави має позитивні аспекти, богарантує права для всіх Церков і релігійнихорганізацій. Але, з іншого – крайній секуляризм,який забороняє будь-які прояви релігійного життя, єнеприйнятним. І ось ми тут разом зібралися, щобпоспілкуватися, обмінятися своїми поглядами, абизахистити свободу сумління і свободу релігії вЄвропі», – наголосив Блаженніший Святослав.

Напередодні завершенням Асамблеї ГлаваУГКЦ очолив Святу Літургію святого ІванаЗолотоустого, під час якої молилися всі учасники

заходу. Скилиця першим письмово повідомив про те, що мироточеннявперше з'явилося в 1040 році). Віруючі, які приходили в базилікудля поклоніння святому, набирали миро в скляні ампули,найдавніші з яких датуються 11 - 12 століттями. Миро шанувалине тільки християни. Іоанн Анагност, що описав захопленняміста турками, повідомляє: миро набирали і мусульмани, яківважали його медичним зіллям від будь-яких хвороб.

З 14 століття замість миро-елея згадується про миро-водуз колодязя в крипті (перша письмова згадка зроблена в 1330 роціНикифором Грігорасом. У цей же період через зникнення мощейз храму виникла легенда, що вони заховані в колодязі в крипті.Згадки про мироточення з колодязя припинилися в 1493 році,коли базиліка була перетворена на мечеть (православним був

збережений доступ для поклоніння до кенотафу святогоДимитрія, що залишився після зникнення мощей).

В давнину мироточення було дуже рясним - Нікіта Хоніатописує, як нормани, що захопили в 1185 році Салоніки,блюзнірно набирали миро у каструлі, смажили на ньому рибу імазали ним взуття.

Хоч мироточення мощей в наш час припинилося, ракусвятого відкривають на вечірній напередодні дня пам'яті святогоі роздають віруючим вату, просочену ароматною рідиною, неототожнюваною з тим миро, про яке у 14 столітті писавДимитрій Хрізолог.☦
