Treasurer, Debbie M. (returning)
Members at large, Akedia, Jana H., and James S.
Welcome to our new Board of 2020, and thanks for making yourselves available to serve.
Marathon meetings are happening for the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays. They start 12/23 at 6 pm thru 12/25 with last meeting at 4:30 pm, and 12/30 at 6 pm thru 1/1 with last meeting at 4:30 pm. Come share your experience strengths and hope of how to stay sober during the Holidays.
By the time you read this our Holiday party will be over. Thank you to all who participated in any way.
I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year. Filled with hope and gratitude for another year of service as your Alternate Chair, Christine Z.
When I am disturbed
It is because I find some person,
place, thing or situation—some fact of my life-unacceptable to me,
and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or
situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this
moment.

I can hardly believe that we are into the Holiday Season and have completed
our first year of Panel 69. Wow!! Time sure does fly when you are having
fun...and for me, General Service is a Blast!
District 90 News – We held our Dessert Potluck Open House for December,
and it did not disappoint! The table was filled with cookies and cakes and of course the hot apple cider. We
spent the majority of the meeting having open discussion on our District Inventory as well as the Area Invento-
ry. We also created our plans to host the next Agenda Topics Unity Day in March. Stay tuned for more on that!
In the meantime, mark your calendar for January 25th for our Inter-District Workshop hosted by District 09 in
Vallejo @ 2800 Georgia St.
Area News – We attended the Fall Assembly in SF in November. Many of us from District 90 participated in the
inventory process. Although, in my opinion only a small fraction of attendees went to the mic. The assembly
had a lower than normal turn-out, due to the date change and the fear of parking in SF. The Treasurer is still
reporting that the funds are very low, and they are now into their prudent reserve. Many seemed confused at
the mic in regard to this, as some were thinking this was an over-spending issue. What actually occurred, which
is sometimes hard to say at the mic, is the previous Treasurer was not processing contribution checks. These
uncashed checks were never turned over to the newly elected Treasurer either, so we are now in a position to
ask groups to resend all the missing contributions.
I personally went to the mic several times, as I have a very strong personal opinion about the many ways, we as
an Area are conducting business. One of my main concerns, is the monthly Officers visits. Our Area Officers visit
24 Districts each month. This not only puts an added financial burden on Area funds, as our Area is so large, but
in my humble opinion it is also a harm to AA as a whole. I believe we should be relying more on DCMs and GSRs
to carry the message and do the work, and less on Area Officers. I am in a very small minority on this and
many members are very passionate about wanting to have an Officer at every District meeting, to be the “eyes
and ears of the Delegate.” I do have personal reasons in regards to this matter, as I would love to stay involved
in General Service at Area level, but currently many of these jobs require a degree of time and commitment
outside my availability, and also not in line with what I believe to be right.
It’s always good to keep discussing things that matter in AA, and this is probably the thing I love the most about
General Service. I love to keep in mind Bill’s quote “the good is often the enemy of the best.” I love AA and
always want to strive for the best way to elevate the message to the still suffering alcoholic.
Wishing you all many Blessings!
Yours in Love and Service,
Terri M. DCMC/Panel 69
