Frank Kelly completed the on- line registration and renewal mod- ule. In addition to registering for the Century or MTB Festival, you can renew your membership online through the club PayPal account. I renewed using the new Purchase module and can tell you that it just doesn’t get any easier. After eight years, Andy Swartz has stepped down as the BikeAbout Advertising Coordinator. Advertising is one of the things that keeps the BikeAbout possible, especially with ever increasing postage costs. We’re deeply indebted to Andy for his years of service. Fortunately we have an enthusiastic new advertising volunteer in Ron Wygant. Ron joined up with MHCC last year and I’ve gotten to know him a bit over the course of some club rides. Ron is a career sales person and has a lot of enthusiasm for his new role with MHCC. Century Weekend is upon us. There’s still time to volunteer. If you’ve been on the fence about vol- unteering please contact Andrea Belec. We can always use more help. Last year a couple of riders rode 100 miles both on Saturday and Sunday; that despite blazing heat and humidity Saturday and a cold rain on Sunday. Will anyone be that crazy this year? CDTA BIKE RACK SURVEY The Capital District Transportation Authority has partnered with the Mohawk Hudson Cycling Club to issue a customer survey about the bicycle racks aboard CDTA buses. Your feedback will be used to monitor and improve the quality of this service, as CDTA works to make transit use more convenient, safe and reliable for cyclists. If you are interested in helping us out, please use the link provided to take this quick and easy online survey: http://tinyurl.com/55ex8m [ SEPTEMBER DATES ] 6-7 CENTURY WEEKEND 25-, 50-, 62- and 100-mile rides. “The Century. A cheap analogy for life. Little pains happen. You adjust. A lot of it is dull stuff indeed, but you make the effort. Man and machine become one organism, stroking

away, correcting, favoring, compensating, and trying to enjoy the little moments of magic that come along. At the end of it, you get off the bike, or fall off, or are pushed off, and that is it.”
