Dr. Rita Kalra was pleased to welcome the Chief Guest, H/Rtn. Deepak Dhiman, Vice President, Dainik Bhaskar Group, Chandigarh. The President also welcomed another guest Mr. R.K. Malhotra, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax from Delhi, a friend of PP Rtn. Dr. Kesho Ram Gupta. She also showed a video to commemorate the Mother’s Day which is on May 13, 2018. Deepak Dhiman Mr. Deepak Dhiman who has done MA in history from Annamalai University, was formally introduced by his friend, Rtn. Dr. Sanjay Kalra. Deepak Dhiman is a very jovial person. He is having 22 years of professional experience as journalist. He started his career from Dainik Tribune. He also had his own paper in Chandigarh, and then joined Jansatta, a leading Hindi daily newspaper of Indian Express Group. He joined Dainik Bhaskar when it was launched in Chandigarh in May 2000 and has held various responsible positions in this leading newspaper group of India. Dainik Bhaskar has large readership in this part of the country, with its circulation growing at a rapid pace. H/Rtn. Deepak Dhiman described newspaper or media as developing a product involving many people to make the news. He also narrated some funny results of their joint effort. He referred to the recently reported forecast about heavy storm in Chandigarh with high alert all over north India creating unnecessary panic, including closure of schools for 2 days. The storm which did not happen, was actually shown on the social media, well doctored by some youth of today who has easy excess to media through internet, facebook, twitter and whatsapp. The developments in communications technology has presented the media to youth as never before, and their involvement with the media has risen to a great extent. Mr. Dhiman quite candidly stated that ‘breaking news’, creating sensation, large scale competition within the media groups, political influence and financial pressures are responsible for mis- reporting and degradation of both print and electronic media. Being a honorary Rotarian of our club, Mr. Deepak Dhiman was pleased to advice the media to follow Rotary’s Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do; Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? Donor Pass Rs. 1000 only, includes contribution towards the polio free world. In our regular meeting on May 11, 2018 President Rtn. Dr. Rita

Kalra was pleased to welcome the Chief Guest, H/Rtn. Deepak

Dhiman, Vice President, Dainik Bhaskar Group, Chandigarh. The

Mr. Deepak Dhiman who has done

MA in history from Annamalai

by his friend, Rtn. Dr. Sanjay Kalra.

Deepak Dhiman is a very jovial

person. He is having 22 years of

professional experience as journalist.

He started his career from Dainik

Tribune. He also had his own paper

in Chandigarh, and then joined

Lovy Peter’s Super Mom Award

Super Mom award presented by PDG Shaju Peter to Ms. Draupati. Looking on are H/Rtn. Deepak Dhiman, President

Dr. Rita Kalra and Secretary Jeeten Bhambri

Every year on the occasion of Mother’s Day Lovy Peter honored a super mom. In our weekly meeting the ‘Super Mom award’ was given to a dedicated worker of Civil Hospital, Panchkula Ms. Draupati, along with a cheque for Rs. 5000. She is working in the hospital for last 10 years.

Having lost her husband in 2008, Draupati is a single parent to two daughters and one son, and is taking good care of her children.
