With the recent additions of our new Secretary Christine Hayward and Treasurer Maureen Marinoff, I feel as though I finally see relief in my schedule. Thanks once again for stepping up to the plate. Hopefully they will have settled into their jobs just in time for elections. The Internal Audit Committee, headed up by Sid Kenmir, is hard at work going over our books and paperwork to make things better for the running of our Wing. If these committee members approach you for some help please help them as they are working for our future. The Ontario Group AGM is fast approaching and the committee is hard at work making sure that everything is in place. If you can help, please let Garry or Donna Kuehl know (519-744-3146). Thanks to all those who helped with the Valentine’s Dinner, Roy Wuertele, Bob Hayward, Christine Hayward et al. I heard it was another fine success. Thank-you to the “Just Us” group for entertaining the ladies that evening. Also a thank you to Garry Kuehl and his crew of Past Presidents and helpers in preparing a fine meal and evening to show our appreciation to our very own 404 Wing Ladies Auxiliary. It’s a small token for a large help from our Ladies over the past year. On the evening of Saturday March 17 th The Wing will be celebrating the birthday of St Patrick, The patron Saint of Ireland. Come on out in your greens and join us for some fun. This should be a sell-out! Membership is increasing again due to the “Just Us” bluegrass, folk, group. Check the membership report in this Wing Ding. I would like to add that we should also concentrate on bringing in new members from all directions. I would hate to think how thin our executive would be if it weren’t for newer members. If you have ever been on the executive, think about that. We still need more new members. Go get them and bring them in. We have LOTS of room for them. (lots of jobs too!). Also, don’t forget to thank the volunteers we do have when you see them at work. Without our volunteers, there would be no Wing. The quote for this month is from George Bernard Shaw... “Which painting in the National Gallery would I save if there was a fire? The one nearest the door, of course.” See you at the Wing. Bring someone new. Make them a member. It won’t hurt, I promise. Mike

Membership Report Chair: Janice Beecroft / Membership Co-Chair Anna May Trapp

MYRONAccording to WikiName.com, theorigin and history:The name Myron was believed tobe derived from the Greek myronfor myrrh. Its popularity waspossibly driven, for manyChristians at least, through theassociation by them with the giftof myrrh made by the three kingsto the infant Christ. Additionally, myrrh itself – an embalmingspice — carries with it many ofthe connotations associated withwhat was then taught inChristianity. Mainly, the cycle ofdeath and eternal life.Myron was a Greek nameoriginally. Coincidentally, Myronis one of the most famous Greeksculptors. Myron the sculptorcreated the statue “The DiscusThrower”. Myron the name waspopular in the 5th century B.C.and in addition to the sculptor, itwas shared by at least two earlysaints. Myron is now a masculinegiven name used in Englishspeaking countries, yet it is notstatistically very popular andhasn’t been since the very early1900s. Myron’s feminineequivalent, Myra, is derived fromthe same history. The first Saint referred to: TheHoly Martyr Myron of Cyzicus wasa priest in Achaia, of rich andeminent parents, by nature kindand meek, and loving towards

God and man. In the time of theEmperor Decius, on the Feast ofthe Nativity itself, pagans rushedinto the church, dragged Myronaway from the service and puthim to torture. While he wasbeing tortured by fire, an angelappeared to him andstrengthened him. They then cutoff his skin in strips from head tofoot. The martyr took one ofthese strips and, with it, struckthe torturer on the face. Thetorturer, as though possessed, took a sword and killed himself.Myron was finally taken to thetown of Cyzicus and there killedwith the sword, in 250.The second Saint referred to: St.Myron the Wonderworker, Bishopof Crete, was a humble farmer. He and his wife shared joyfullyand generously with the poor.Once, he caught some thievesstealing corn from his threshingfloor. Rather than act as theowner and chase them off orhave them arrested, he joinedtheir band long enough to helpthem fill their sacks, lift themonto their backs and help themget away. Because of his honest, humble and industriousreputation, he was ordainedpriest, then consecrated bishop. Many miracles happened by hisprayers. He was a wise Bishopand a peacemaker. He reposedin the Lord at the great age of

100 in the year 350.Very few, of the possiblythousands of us Myronsthroughout history, areremembered any further thanour immediate family. That is okthough, as long as each one ofus tries, and has tried, to serveGod and our fellow man – thisgoes for anyone, no matter whattheir name may be.As for me, I am not a sculptor, and certainly not a saint, but I dohope I have said, or written, ordone something that has liftedyour spirits in some way. If I havesaid or done something to hurt,or harm you in some way, I trulyam sorry and apologize from thedepths of my heart!I am retiring as Padre (P) on Junethe 7th 2012; or earlier if a newPadre accepts the position. Ibecame Padre extremely quicklyas a result of the death of ourPadre John Bonesteel, and haveserved several years now. I wishto thank each one of you for yoursupport and kindness – andagain ask forgiveness for myshortcomings and lacks.I pray a Blessing of Almighty Godon the Membership of 404 Wing, and I ask each one of you to seekGod while He may yet be found.God is our refuge and strength –If we take hold of Him!Blessings!Rev. D. Myron Leis
