WALKING WITH PURPOSE begins September 16th and 17th. Walking with Purpose is a Catholic women’s Bible study that aims to bring women to a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ by offering personal study and small group discussions that link our everyday challenges and struggles with the solutions given to us through the teachings of Christ and the Roman Catholic Church. Each meeting will begin with 20 minutes of large-group fellowship and light refreshments, followed by group prayer and welcome, then will break down into small groups for one hour. We also offer a study for young adult women. We offer two weekly sessions! Our evening session will meet on Mondays from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Our morning session will meet Tuesdays from 9:15-10:45 a.m. Our study will be “Keeping in Balance.” If you are new to Walking with Purpose, we will also offer “Opening Your Heart.” Please register on our parish website.

A Message from Matt Munhall, Director of Music and LiturgyHello everyone!I’ve been here a little over a year and am excited as I enter into my second year with all of you and I’m looking forward to the growth of our music program over the next year. I need

your help! I am on a mission to gain at least 15 new choir members, and several more new musicians. Picture this – in the late 80s – we had 50 in the adult choir and 60 in youth choir. Now, we have 15 in the adult choir. We truly need at least 25 people in the choir in order to perform the pieces we do well. Let’s revitalize this program together! In particular, we especially need men in the choir. Men here who can sing, please see me as soon as possible to join our choir and to lead our congregation in praising God. All you need is a willingness to learn and to not take yourself too seriously. If a man you know can sing and you know it, please encourage him!We need women too, of course! And I encourage you to make the sacrifices to join. We are in need of new fresh open hearts ready to praise God with fervor. If this sounds like a woman you know who might be able to help us, please encourage her! Also, I need some instrumentalists who can help us at liturgies. I am looking for someone who can play the Cahone, and other percussion. I’m looking for horn players and flute players and string players. Please let me know if you are proficient at an instrument and want to commit to the 5:00 p.m. Saturday Mass. It is a versatile Mass where we play hymns, contemporary, and praise and worship music. I am building an ensemble and I am open to teaching amateur musicians the skills of playing within an ensemble. We can also use people on special occasions and at the 10:45 a.m. Mass. So, if you or someone you know could fill some of these roles, please let me know as soon as you can so we can get started on the right foot before year gets rolling! See me in the back of church after Mass to connect and ask any questions you might have. Or, you can email me directly through the parish website at [email protected].

The mission of the Catholic Outreach Ministries (COM) is to engage the parishioners of St. Francis de Sales (SFdS) Roman Catholic Parish to share the blessings of their faith through

The ROSARY …and the crowning of Mary

Written by Dan Fandrey – Reprinted from the St. Francis de Sales bulletin, August 17, 2014

(Please note: In 2019 these feast days, August 15 and 22, fall on two consecutive Thursdays)

Last Friday, we celebrated the Assumption of Mary into Heaven. This coming Friday, August 22nd, exactly one week later, we celebrate the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Quoting from the 1954 encyclical letter of Pope Pius Xll, “Mary has been made queen of Heaven and earth by God, exalted above all the choirs of angels and all the saints. She is to be called Queen not only because of her divine motherhood, but also because she, by the will of God, has an outstanding part in the work of our eternal salvation. Taken up to Heaven, Our Lady did not lay aside her saving role, but by her manifold acts of intercession, continues to win for us gifts of eternal salvation.” Very simply said, Our Lady is constantly working to guide us home to her Son. When you open your heart to her, you can feel this loving care and closeness. SHE WANTS US TO SHARE IN THE ETERNAL JOY OF HEAVEN. The fifth Glorious Mystery of the Rosary is “The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth.”

Remember, you and your family are always invited to join in our weekly Rosary for Peace, every Saturday at 4:35 p.m., just before Mass.
