Year 4
1. Bamboo education centre
3. The Building.The design of the buildings rests on a bamboo structure that covers an educational,working, meeting and housing parts. The core is the meeting part where the reception is. The housing is separated from the rest for some quietness. The round core is turned to the Gathering Centre, where big meetings could be held, while the workshop is double sided between the street and the open area between the Educational and the Gathering Centre. The building has a two roof system: an outer skin made out of bamboo and, under its shade, the rammed earth

development. As Haiti only has 4% of its original rainforest left we aim to restore some of the greenery, while, at the same time, we are planting a new future of an
lot of other products like textile, furniture, etc.
2. The Educational Centre.This educational centre is turned towards serving the local population. It has place for some volunteers to work and start this task, teaching the locals on how to build and use bamboo in various ways, so that this knowledge can be spread between them later on. It should be a crossing point between knowing the material, taking care of the plantations and producing useful things out of bamboo. Also, the children from the nearby school in the complex could come by for some grown up knowledge and to learn something on this activity.

final design
67 pieces of wood makes the frame 428 caps and screws is added to it 1 PET bottle works as a cap container
AIM: to create urban furniture that allows a strong interaction between its shape and its users.
INTENTION: to (re)use discarded material in a universal way, so that this object can be placed in multiple urban contexts.
FUNCTION: trash can be useful to build both new furniture and pieces of art. What if we combine both? Can a trash(bin) be topic of fur-ther urban design?
FREE USE: the usefulness of a piece of art can be discussed but when it turns into free furniture, then people can interact with it, view it and use it in different ways.
NIGHTLIFE: light it a source of safety. By lightening up the bottles, their multiple colours can illuminate the space around them.
HOW? by re-using the caps of the PET bottles and screwing them to a wooden frame, we create the base for the people to constantly shift this furniture by adding their own bottles with different colours and shapes.
