Principal of the School Ashok Raina was Chief Guest whereas lecturers Nazakat Ali and Puran Chand and Master Balwant Singh acted as judges in the competition. The vote of thanks was given by lecturer Riaz Ahmed. Shubam Thakur was adjudged got first prize while Mohd Mustafeez and Sabina Khalid secured second and third position in the debate competition. As many as, 10 students partici- pated in the Debate competition and expressed their ideas and views on the topic. Later, a col- orful cultural programme was also presented by local artists and students which mesmerized the audience on the occasion. Debate on ‘Relevance of Social Media in our Society’ held STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ICAR-ATARI), Zone-I Ludhiana who is administer- ing the Krishi Vigyan Kendras of North Zone including Jammu and Kashmir has been conferred with Swami Sahajanand Saraswati Scientist ICAR Award for the year 2016 for his outstanding contribution in mobilising farm- ing community and creating mass awareness campaign against residue burning and scaling up the farmer friendly climate resilient technologies in villages of northern India including the State of Jammu and Kashmir. The ICAR award consists of Rs 1 lakh in cash and a citation and is conferred to a scientist for outstanding contribution in agricultur- al extension. The award will be presented during ICAR Foundation Day function which is sched- uled to be held on 16th July 2017 at NASC Complex, New Delhi. Rajbir Singh conferred Swami Sahajanand Saraswati Award STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: There is no water supply in Ward No. 9 for the last nine days despites tall claims of the PHE Deptt. The situation is very critical because peo- ple have not an iota of water. On the one hand scorch- ing sun and intermittent rains are making their life crippled and on the other they have no water to drink leave alone washing and bathing purposes. "This thing is making our life difficult. Without water how can we sustain" lamented local residents of that ward. "We have talked so many times with the authorities but all in vain. Whenever we go in large numbers they give us sup- ply on that day but after that they are back to their routine. If this thing is not solved then we have no other option but to come on the roads" warned the residents of Ward No. 9. In this context when con- tacted AEE of PHE Deptt. gave the routine reply that the motor of that particular unit is out of order and he has sent it for repairs and whenever it is fixed he will provide water to Ward No. 9 Samba. Ward No 9 Samba without water STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI/POONCH: The second phase of orienta- tion cum training pro- gramme for pilgrims of Haj-2017 was organised by district administration Rajouri in collaboration with J and K State Haj Committee at Dak Bungalow Rajouri on Wednesday. A total of 124 aspiring Hajis participated in the training which was imparted by experts from Haj committee besides resource persons from the district. ADC, Mumtaz Ali Chowdhary was Chief Guest on the occasion who congratulated the prospective Hajis and assured them all support from the district adminis- tration to make their pil- grimage smooth and has- sle free. During the orientation session, lectures were delivered on Mansik-e-Haj and Ziarat-e-Madina Munawara besides giving other important instruc- tions. Meanwhile, A training programme for Hajis was held in Poonch under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch. The celebration commenced in the historical Ziarat of Chhote Shah in the Sakhi Maidan of border Tehsil of Mendhar on Monday in which thousands of devotees of all walks of life from whole of the State and even from outside of the State participated, paid their obeisance and obtained the blessings of Chhote Shah Badshah.The programme was organised by the Ziarat Management Committee in coordination with the Auqaf Committee and the adminis- tration. It is said that the Ziarat of Chhote Shah Peer Badshah is amongst the big Ziarats of the State. Director RDD reviews progress of ongoing developmental works STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: A meeting of Jammu Kashmir Government Teachers Forum was held at Boys Hr Sec School Samba under the chair- manship of Satish Dutta State President of JKGTF in which Provincial President Rahul Sambyal, Distt President JKGTF Samba Surjeet Singh, Distt President Female Wing Roopa Sambyal and State Coordinator Rakesh Verma along with a large number of teachers participated. Many issues of teaching community were discussed in the meeting which include from entering the service record of the teachers to uneven distribution of grant of RReTs. In his address Surjeet Singh said, "Teaching community is already on the verge of starvation as there is no salary for RReTs, Head Teachers under SSA for the last six months adding in his last meeting with the DSEJ the issue of the post facto permission of the teaching community was solved but full implementation has to been done by con- cerned authorities. Roopa Sambyal said, "Women are very shy and that's why they suffer most in the offices for the redressal of their problems and it is her duty as Distt President to get their work done. She said they should come forward for their rights." All the teachers in the meeting unanimous- ly agreed to the policies and programmes of JKGTF and resolved full faith in it. BVP to develop Kotla as model village STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: To finalise all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of forth- coming Budha Amarnath Annual Yatra to Mandi Budha Amarnath , Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahamad Zargar on Wednesday convened a meet- ing of concerned district offi- cers, trustees of Budha Amarnath Shrine, prominent citizens, Muslim religious clerics and social activists at conference hall of DC's office Poonch. The Deputy Commissioner at the outset enquired and took detail review of deci- sions taken in last meeting regarding the necessary arrangements which are to be made for smooth conduct of ten days long Yatra com- mencing from 28 July this years. Apart from making foolproof security arrange- ments and maintaining com- munal harmony , issues per- taining to availability of essentials services like unin- terrupted power supply , drinking water facilities, availability of LPG cylinders besides medicare facilities, sanitation and accommoda- tion were discussed at the meeting. The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers to make elaborate arrangements for reception of the pilgrims. He asked SSP Poonch to make liaison with other security agencies and hold separate meeting with them if neces- sary for tight security arrangements enroute from Bimer Gali (BG) to Budha Amarnath, Mandi. The con- cerned officers were directed to redress others issues like accommodation and traffic regulation for smooth move- ment of the Yatris. Tariq Zargar also instruct- ed the EO, Municipal Council to maintain cleanli- ness and lightening facilities at Langar sites and around the places where Yatris will stay so that they do not face any inconvenience. The Fire and Emergency Department was also directed to set up fire tenders at all the halting stations enroute the Holy Shrine. Health authorities were asked to establish med- ical camps near the Shrine and also keep standby ambu- lances at strategic locations. Instructions were passed to the BRO authorities to expe- dite the resurfacing and for maintenance of damaged road stretches . It was decided in the meet- ing that under the overall supervision of the Deputy Commissioner, a Yatra offi- cer to be nominated soon shall coordinate with other concerned agencies and departments and supervise necessary arrangements at Holy Shrine Budha Amarnath . It was also decid- ed a committee of officers and prominent citizens will be constituted to coordinate and facilitate smooth con- duct of Yatra. Eight injured as taxi skids-off STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: Eight persons were injured when the sumo in which they were traveling in met with an accident near Daraie vil- lage in Bhalessa area of District Doda on Gandoh -Chenwari Link Road, on Wednesday afternoon. According to police sources, a Tata Sumo (JK 06 - 6296) on its way from Gandoh to village Chenwari, skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at Daraie resulting in injuries to eight persons. SDPO Gandoh Sunny Gupta said that after getting infor- mation, police team rushed to the spot and along with locals started rescue operation and shifted all the injured persons to Sub District Hospital Gandoh, where they are responding to the treatment, when reports last came in. "A case in this regard has been registered at Police Station Gandoh and investigation started," Gupta added. One held in fake driving licence racket STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Police on Wednesday busted a fake driving licence racket and arrested a shopkeeper at Poonch. As per the details, a party of Police Station Poonch headed by DySp Hqtrs Shaheed Naeem on a specific information raided a computer shop at Bus Stand Poonch and apprehend- ed the owner of the shop identified as Yaser Irfan son of Abdul Khaliq resident of Nabna at present staying at Bus Stand Poonch and recovered fake driving licences and other driving related documents from his possession. A FIR No 95/2017 case under section 420, 467, 468 RPC was registered at Police Station Poonch against the owner of the computer shop for possessing and preparing fake travel related documents. Woman's body found STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: An unidentified body of a young woman was found in bushes at village Paldai during wee hours in Tehsil Majlata in mysterious circumstances. According to a report, Majlata Police recovered a body of an unidentified woman lying at village Paldai in Tehsil Majlata of district Udhampur, shifted it to PHC Majlata and kept in mortuary for identification. Old woman knocked down to death STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: An old-age woman was crushed to death by a speed- ing scooty at Sanai, Bhalla area of District Doda on Wednesday. According to reports, A speeding scooty (with- out registration number) hit an old-age woman at Sanie, area of Bhalla Tehsil. After getting information police immediate- ly rushed to the spot and shifted the woman to nearby hospi- tal where doctors declared her as brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Thakri Devi (65) wife of Prithvi Raj resident of Sanie Bhalla. Police registered a case in this regard and also seized the vehicle. About 30 young men attended the course, honed their skills and benefitted out of it. During the course, training on theoret- ical as well as practical aspects of welding was imparted to them by quali- fied technicians and instructors. He said that the process of electoral purifi-cation has started and shall continue till 31st ofthis month and people who are desirous of anychange in electoral rolls can approach concernedBLOs. Various speakers including school chil-dren and staff threw light on the topic and amessage was passed encouraging people to par-ticipate in the process to make the drive success-ful. Many issues of teaching community werediscussed in the meeting which include fromentering the service record of the teachers touneven distribution of grant of RReTs.

In his address Surjeet Singh said,"Teaching community is already on the vergeof starvation as there is no salary for RReTs,Head Teachers under SSA for the last six

months adding in his last meeting with theDSEJ the issue of the post facto permissionof the teaching community was solved butfull implementation has to been done by con-cerned authorities.

Roopa Sambyal said, "Women are very shyand that's why they suffer most in the officesfor the redressal of their problems and it isher duty as Distt President to get their workdone. She said they should come forward fortheir rights."

STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: To finalise allnecessary arrangements forthe smooth conduct of forth-coming Budha AmarnathAnnual Yatra to MandiBudha Amarnath , DeputyCommissioner Poonch, TariqAhamad Zargar onWednesday convened a meet-ing of concerned district offi-cers, trustees of BudhaAmarnath Shrine, prominentcitizens, Muslim religiousclerics and social activists atconference hall of DC's officePoonch.

The Deputy Commissionerat the outset enquired andtook detail review of deci-sions taken in last meetingregarding the necessaryarrangements which are tobe made for smooth conductof ten days long Yatra com-mencing from 28 July thisyears. Apart from makingfoolproof security arrange-ments and maintaining com-munal harmony , issues per-taining to availability ofessentials services like unin-terrupted power supply ,

drinking water facilities,availability of LPG cylindersbesides medicare facilities,sanitation and accommoda-tion were discussed at themeeting.

The Deputy Commissionerdirected the officers to makeelaborate arrangements forreception of the pilgrims. Heasked SSP Poonch to makeliaison with other securityagencies and hold separatemeeting with them if neces-sary for tight securityarrangements enroute fromBimer Gali (BG) to BudhaAmarnath, Mandi. The con-cerned officers were directedto redress others issues likeaccommodation and trafficregulation for smooth move-ment of the Yatris.

Tariq Zargar also instruct-ed the EO, MunicipalCouncil to maintain cleanli-ness and lightening facilitiesat Langar sites and aroundthe places where Yatris willstay so that they do not faceany inconvenience. The Fireand Emergency Departmentwas also directed to set up

fire tenders at all the haltingstations enroute the HolyShrine. Health authoritieswere asked to establish med-ical camps near the Shrineand also keep standby ambu-lances at strategic locations.Instructions were passed tothe BRO authorities to expe-dite the resurfacing and formaintenance of damagedroad stretches .

It was decided in the meet-ing that under the overallsupervision of the DeputyCommissioner, a Yatra offi-cer to be nominated soonshall coordinate with otherconcerned agencies anddepartments and supervisenecessary arrangements atHoly Shrine BudhaAmarnath . It was also decid-ed a committee of officersand prominent citizens willbe constituted to coordinateand facilitate smooth con-duct of Yatra.

Eight injured as taxi skids-offSTATE TIMES NEWS

DODA: Eight persons were injured when the sumo in whichthey were traveling in met with an accident near Daraie vil-lage in Bhalessa area of District Doda on Gandoh -ChenwariLink Road, on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police sources, a Tata Sumo (JK 06 - 6296)on its way from Gandoh to village Chenwari, skidded off theroad and fell into a gorge at Daraie resulting in injuries toeight persons.

SDPO Gandoh Sunny Gupta said that after getting infor-mation, police team rushed to the spot and along with localsstarted rescue operation and shifted all the injured persons toSub District Hospital Gandoh, where they are responding tothe treatment, when reports last came in. "A case in thisregard has been registered at Police Station Gandoh andinvestigation started," Gupta added.

POONCH: Police on Wednesday busted a fake driving licenceracket and arrested a shopkeeper at Poonch.

As per the details, a party of Police Station Poonch headedby DySp Hqtrs Shaheed Naeem on a specific informationraided a computer shop at Bus Stand Poonch and apprehend-ed the owner of the shop identified as Yaser Irfan son of AbdulKhaliq resident of Nabna at present staying at Bus StandPoonch and recovered fake driving licences and other drivingrelated documents from his possession.

A FIR No 95/2017 case under section 420, 467, 468 RPCwas registered at Police Station Poonch against the owner ofthe computer shop for possessing and preparing fake travelrelated documents.

The investigation of the case has been taken up and somemore arrests and recoveries of fake driving licences and trav-el related documents are expected.

DODA: Police on Wednesday arrested a woman and recovered5 litres of illicit (Desi) liquor from her house.

As per the details, on a specific information a party of PoliceStation Doda headed by SHO Doda Inspector Ragubir Singhraided the house of Lalita Devi wife of Angrez Singh residentof Sherkhand Bhagwah, recovered five litres of Illicit (Desi)liquor and seized the still and other apparatus used for distil-lation of the beverage from the house accused woman.

UDHAMPUR: An unidentified body of a young woman wasfound in bushes at village Paldai during wee hours in TehsilMajlata in mysterious circumstances.

According to a report, Majlata Police recovered a body of anunidentified woman lying at village Paldai in Tehsil Majlata ofdistrict Udhampur, shifted it to PHC Majlata and kept inmortuary for identification. However Majlata Police regis-tered a case and launched the investigation under 174 Cr. PC.for investigation.

Old woman knocked down to death STATE TIMES NEWS

DODA: An old-age woman was crushed to death by a speed-ing scooty at Sanai, Bhalla area of District Doda onWednesday. According to reports, A speeding scooty (with-out registration number) hit an old-age woman at Sanie, areaof Bhalla Tehsil. After getting information police immediate-ly rushed to the spot and shifted the woman to nearby hospi-tal where doctors declared her as brought dead.

The deceased has been identified as Thakri Devi (65) wifeof Prithvi Raj resident of Sanie Bhalla. Police registered acase in this regard and also seized the vehicle. However driv-er/owner of the scooter fled from the spot.
