The 3 Types of MINDRiding The Dragon

In this lesson we will learn:

The most amazing revelation about your M indyou have been made to think that everyone

has only one type of M indwait ti ll you discover 2 more types of M indand how to unl eash their

    otential

How the fi rst type of M ind traps you in false and incomplete reali ty and what type of M ind can

ree you to experience the TRUTH

What is the dif ference between Belief and Faithand how thi s simple knowledge of the 3 types

of Mindscan help you overcome dead beliefs and develop conscious faith

The shocking truth about how the modern education system destroys our real potential

whi ch is why Einstein and many more successful wise men never were academic heroes of their

    chools

How the subjective reasoning destroys your I ntuition and makes your servant(the mind), your

master. A simple practice for opening your Intuition

    And MORE!

Now, we know that we have not 1 but 3 Brains.

The brains are the instruments of the Mind. The infinite forms of the mind, controlthe maincenters of the 3 brains, and play with the human machine.

The mind itself is an instrument of the Consciousness. And we should learn how to manageit. But it is absurd to assume that such an instrument could become efficient without even knowing the

how and the why of its functions. So let us learn about the different types of Mind that we have. In fact

    we have three minds:

The first one we can and must call the Sensual Mind.

The second is the Intermediate Mind.

The third we shall call the Inner Mind.

Now we are going to study each of these three minds separately and judiciously:

The Sensual Mind or the Sensorial Mind orthe External Mind

The Sensual Mind is that mind which we utilize commonly, it is the External Mind. A mindcompletely identified with the 5 senses.

The Sensual Mind elaborates its concepts with the data brought by the five senses. Andwith these concepts it forms its reasoning.

Because of this, the Sensual Mind is terribly crude and materialistic. It cannot acceptanything which has not been physically demonstrated.

Since the fundamental concepts of the Sensual Mind are based on external sensory data, undoubtedly, it can know nothing about that which is real, about the truth, about the

mysteries of life and death, about the Soul and the Spirit, etc. As, where could it get thatinformation, if the only source of nourishment it has, is the data brought by the senses?Obviously, it cannot know what comes from above.

For the rogues of the intellect, totally trapped by their external senses and incarceratedwithin the basic concepts of the Sensual Mind, our Esoteric studies about the Mind,Meditation and Self Mastery are lunacy.

In an insane world, they are right due to their conditioning by the external sensoryworld. How could the Sensual Mind accept what is not sensory? Thus, all the materialistand atheist doctrines are developed by the Sensual Mind.

The humanity in the present times uses its Sensorial Mind to escape from itself. Bywatching T.V, movies, by gossiping, by keeping ourselves busy in day-to-day mundaneactivities, we try to escape from ourselves. The truth is, we are afraid of loneliness. Themoment we are alone with ourselves, we get terrified and immediately run to the SensorialMind, so that it can help us escape from ourselves. Is that not so?

Lets take a look at different types of Sensual Minds. Now, even the Sensual orSensorial Mind is of 3 types :

    (a) The Weather-Cock Mind or the Dispersed Mind:

This mind as the name suggests has no center of gravity. Its unstable, confused. ThisMind has no constancy, cannot achieve any goal. It cannot concentrate on one thing forlong. It is like a monkey which keeps on jumping from one thing to another, moving like apendulum.Cannot take a decision.

If a friend joins one course, we want to do it. Then we see some other friend doing someother course which he says is absolutely wonderful. And we take no time in leaving theearlier course to join this new course. E.g. The Mind of the character Hrithik Roshan

played in the Indian movie Lakshya, till he learns to tame his Weather-Cock Mind.

  • 7/28/2019 4 Riding the Dragon, The Three Types of Mind

    4/13

If we are more based in this Mind, sometimes even to take simple decisions like what toeat in lunch, or which movie to watch, or what dress to wear becomes a big problem. Inthis process, much time and energy is wasted by the Weather-Cock Mind.

    (b) The Programmed Mind:

We are programmed to live in a definite way. This Mind programs the future and whenthings do not happen as programmed, it makes us suffer terribly. It makes us think we cancontrol the future, expecting something to happen. Life runs like a sergeant drill. Leavingno scope for the unexpected.

And when something unexpected happens, we cannot cope with it. e.g. anearthquake or something happens to our house, car, job, business, etc., we are shaken.

This mind leaves no scope for Intuition. Now, we are not saying that we should not plan.Planning is all right, but we should always be ready to adapt.

If our society is projecting an image that to be successful you must be blonde, of a certainheight, with a certain breast size. Or you should get A+, or pass this or that exam. And ifwe do not qualify any of these false benchmarks, we feel humiliated, we feel worthless...And many people commit suicide for these reasons.

What a tragic situation! How many countless millions live day after day hypnotized bythe programming of our culture, and die in loneliness, feeling ashamed, dissatisfied, lonely, or resentful...

And yet, who sees the truth of it? The Programmed Mind has made us so calculative, coldand indifferent.

    (b) The Infra-conscious Mind:

Infra-conscious mind is clearly from where all the negative motives arise, a mind whichhas awaken for the evil. Infra-conscious influences come from the very depths of the mind.We do not even perceive it. One way we can perceive this Mind is when we havenightmares. Nightmares are the realities of our own infra-conscious mind. When we havenightmares about monsters or demons or being in a very negative place, or being chasedor raped... all of that is our own infra-consciousness. Those are aspects of our own Infra-conscious mind.

And then, this Mind makes us harm others, consciously hate people or becomevengeful. We do all kind of negative karmas under the influence of this Mind. For example, terrorists, many of the modern politicians, a glaring example would be Hitler, marketingpeople using unethical influence tactics, those people who use Mind Control to controlothers, all of them are puppets of this Mind. But definitely most of the people governed by

this Mind are too smart to show their negativity to the outside world.

    The Intermediate Mind

If information from the senses serves as a secret means for all functions of the SensualMind, the data brought by religions have their place in the Intermediate Mind.

The Intermediate Mind is different from the Sensual Mind. It has no direct knowledge ofwhat is real either, it confines itself to beliefs and that is all. Found in the IntermediateMind are religious beliefs, unbreakable dogmas, etc.

It is related with blind dead faith or beliefs. Just follows what has been told, but does notintelligently evaluates. For example, ringing the bell in temples or churches, pouring milkover Shivling, or making a cross. It does all of this, because the parents or the priests toldus to do it in this way. Even internally feels, everything will be fine one day, God will save

us; when the reality is totally the opposite.

They are those that go to their temples, schools, religions and sects, etc. so everybodycan see them. They listen to the teachings, read their Bible, Gita or Koran but do notpractice any of that teachings in themselves. They just attend to their rituals so everyonecan see them, to make a good self image, but they never work on themselves, and that isreally serious. They are happy with mere beliefs and do not feel interes for the innertransformation, so they lose their time miserably and fail!

Moreover, the Sensual Mind and the Intermediate Mind are all the time comparing, always influenced by competition.

Men compare one girlfriend with another. The ladies compare one man to another. Thefollower of one religion or sect compares his religion or sect with other to feel superior. The teacher compares a student with another, as if not all the students deserve the sameesteem. In reality any comparison is awful.

Whoever contemplates a beautiful sunset and compares it with another one, he reallydoes not know how to comprehend the beauty he has before his eyes.

Whoever observes a beautiful mountain and compares it with another one he saw

yesterday, he is not really comprehendingthe beauty of the mountain he has before hiseyes.

When there is comparison, true Love doesnt exists.Parents who truly love theirchildren, never should compare them with anybody else, they love them and that is it.

A husband who really loves his wife, never should make the mistake of comparing herwith anybody else, he loves her and that is it.

A worshipper of God who truly loves God would never compare his religion with anotherone, or downcast other religions. You love your God, other people love their God and that

    is it.

    6/13

The Sensual and Intermediate Minds divided by comparisons, the mind slave ofdualism, destroys Love. The mind divided by the battling of opposites is not able tocomprehend the new, it petrifies, it freezes.

The mind has many profundities, regions, subconscious grounds, roundabout ways, but the best thing it has is the ESSENCE, the CONSCIOUSNESS, and it is in thecenter.

When dualism is gone, when the mind turns integral, serene, quiet, profound, when itdoesnt compare anymore, then the ESSENCE,the Consciousness awakens.

Lets distinguish between what is objective and subjective; in whatever is objective there isawakened Consciousness. In whatis Subjective there is sleeping Consciousness or subConsciousness. Only the awakened Consciousness may enjoy the objective

knowledge which is the domain of the Inner Mind.

    The Inner Mind

So, there exists the Inner Mind. The Inner Mind by itself and in itself works exclusively withthe data brought by the 2 Superior Centers The Superior Emotional Center and theSuperior Intellectual Center. These 2 Centers are directly connected with AwakenedConsciousness.

The Inner Mind is fundamental for the direct experience of the truth.

To manifest itself however, Consciousness needs a mediator, an instrument of action, andthis in itself is the Inner Mind.

To open the Inner Mind would be the appropriate thing to do in order to remove ourselvesfrom the world of doubt and Ignorance.

This means that only by opening the Inner Mind will genuine Faith be born withinus.

Faith is the direct perception of what is real, it is fundamental wisdom; it is the experienceof that which is beyond the body, the senses, the affections and the mind.

We must distinguish between faith and belief. Beliefs are found stored in theIntermediate Mind. Faith is a characteristic of the Inner Mind.

Unfortunately, there is always a general tendency to confuse belief with faith. Although itseems paradoxical, we emphasize the following: Those who have true faith do not needto believe.

Authentic faith is living wisdom, exact cognition, direct experience.

  • 7/28/2019 4 Riding the Dragon, The Three Types of Mind

    7/13

For many centuries, faith has been confused with belief, and now it takes a lot of work tohelp people comprehend that faith is true wisdom and never vain beliefs.

The sapient function of the Inner Mind has as its Intimate resource all that formidable datafrom the wisdom embodied in Consciousness.

One who has opened the Inner Mind recalls ones previous existences, knows themysteries of life and death; not because of what one has or has not read, not because ofwhat someone has or has not said, not because of what one has or has not believed, butbecause of terribly real and vivid direct experience.

Of course, the Sensual Mind does not likewhat we are saying here.

The Sensual Mind cannot accept this because it is out of its grasp, has nothing whatever todo with external sensory perceptions. This is alien to its own basic concepts, to that whichwas taught at school or what was learned from various books, etc.

What we are saying here is not accepted by the Intermediate Mind either, as it iscontrary to its own beliefs. This spoils what its religious teachers made it learn by heart.

But the question is how to open our Inner Mind.

    How can we open it?

When one Self Observes and Psychoanalyzes intimately themechanism of ones mind, when one knows the how and why of the multiple thoughts, and knows where they comefrom, one maythen change his way of thinking, converting the mind in a useful instrument.

In this way, by knowing how to think psychologically, one can open the InnerMind.Unquestionably, when someone starts to observe himself, it is a sign that he isbeginning to think psychologically.

Beyond the intellect there exists another faculty of cognition, the

Imagination. Because of this faculty, the computer, the Ipod, the mobile phone, the car, etc.,exist. The great scientist Albert Einstein said, Imagination is more important thanknowledge.

The wise man that wants to create an invention first has to imagine it and then project thatimage onto paper. The architect that wants to build a house has to imagine it first and laterproject it into a plan. Therefore, the imagination is what allows the creation of an invention.

But, there are two kinds of imagination?

We could call the first one "Mechanical Imagination", and this kind of imagination is

fantasy itself, which is formed by the scraps of the memory and it is even prejudicial.

  • 7/28/2019 4 Riding the Dragon, The Three Types of Mind

    8/13

However, in truth there exists another type of imagination: it is the Intentional Imagination, that is to say, Conscious Imagination.

For example, Einstein imagined what would happen if he is sitting on a ray traveling at thespeed of light and he received the answer.

Einstein had a question that what would happen if we go beyond the speed of light. Sohe could have thought, thought, thought and thought......but no he didn't do that. He just sator might have lied down and he closed his eyes and he let his imagination loose that he issitting on a ray that is traveling at a speed of light and then inspiration came and thenintuition came and thus, he got the right answer.

Nature itself possesses imagination, and that is obvious. If there were no imagination, all thecreatures of nature would be blind. The creative imagination of nature has originated themany existing forms.

It is possible to develop the imagination, and this can take us far beyond the SensualMind. This can lead us to Psychological Thought. Only Psychological Thought can open thedoors of the Inner Mind. If one develops the imagination, one can learn to thinkpsychologically.

Imagination, Inspiration and Intuition are the three mandatory paths of Initiation, but ifwe remain bottled up within the sensory functions of the intellect, it is impossible to ascendthe staircase of the Imagination, Inspiration and Intuition. Only when fantasy stops, the gatesof Intuition opens.

How are we going to define Intuition? It is a direct perception of the truth without thedepressing process of options.

We are very imaginative. We use our imagination constantly, yet we use our imaginationthrough delusion most of the time. We fantasize ad nauseam. We worry about our son or ourdaughter, and we imagine terrible things happening to them - "Oh what if they get in a caraccident; what if somebody takes advantage of them; or if they are out of money and theyare homeless or sick..."

We produce a lot of imagery in those worries; and that is fantasy --unconsciousimagination. There is no consciousness there - there is only delusion anxiety, worry, fear,

    attachment.

We worry about our spouse: "What if he leaves me; what if he does not really love me; whatif he is cheating on me; what if he gets sick and dies; what if she leaves me; what if she hurtsme..."

And then what to say about the sexual fantasies of young men and women, it is really aplay of the Sensual Mind.

All of these are related to images, and all of these images are negative imagination. In fact, they are actual entities that we create.

We have to understand that all forms of energy have some material existence.

  • 7/28/2019 4 Riding the Dragon, The Three Types of Mind

    9/13

A thought is a form of energy. Einstein proved energy is matter, and matter is energy,E=MC2. Thus, thought itself is also matter, but it is matter in the Fifth dimension, the MentalPlane, the World of the Mind. Every thought that we produce is related to an actual formationof matter; it has form and it exists in the World of the Mind.

So knowing this, lets stop fantasizing and start developing consciousImagination.Only then real Intuition will develop. Only then we can open our Inner Mind. Moreover, the Inner Mind guides us but we ignore it and get identified with the external orintermediate mind.

How the present education system destroysthe possibilities of the Inner Mind

A child is born, and as a fact he receives a physical body as a complementary gift fromDivinity and his parents. Of course, this physical body is marvelous. It has about 15,000million neurons that are in the service of the child, and it cost him nothing, nada, zilch.

As the child grows, he starts collecting data around his environment through the 5 senses, which is then processed by what we call the Sensual Mind.

While the child is growing his Sensual Mind opens little by little. This sensual mind initself and by itself gives the child information through external sensorial perceptions. Andthen the sensual mind elaborates on this information which is based on the data it collects

    from the 5 senses.

Because our senses have serious limitations, the sensual mind can never knowanything about reality. Its Reasoning processes are subjective, they move within a viciouscircle, the circle of external sensorial perceptions. The truth is that the senses of externalperception can only reach a fraction of what is perceivable.

Now a complete differentiation between subjective reasoning and objective reasoningmust be done.

It is obvious that the child has to go through all the educational processes; kindergarten,

elementary, high school, and university. The subjective reasoning is nourished with all thedata that these distinct scholastic institutions grant unto it. But truly no educational institutecan give to a child, youth, or teenager data or information that is already not there.

That is why the greatest scientists and inventors of this world never got A grades inschool. The greatest scientist of the last century Albert Einstein is one example. Nouniversity can give information about that which is not of time, about the reality of ourexistence, about the secrets of this Universe, about that which is reality.

The speculations of subjective reasoning(of the sensual mind) can maximum take oneto intellectualism, or, towards simple opinions of a subjective type. But never to the

experience of the truth, never to experience that which is not from time.

  • 7/28/2019 4 Riding the Dragon, The Three Types of Mind

    10/13

On the other hand, objective reasoning, that disgracefully does not receive any instructionbecause there is no school that teaches it, remains abandoned. Undoubtedly, objectivereasoning processes obviously conduct us towards exact and perfect postulates(in simplewords The Truth).

The child is always subjectively educated from place to place; for him no form of superiorinstruction exists. All data, all scholastic matters, all family matters, etc. that the senses grantto the subjective mind of the teenager are merely empirical and subjective and this is pitiful.

Towards the beginning, the child has still not lost the capacity ofastonishment.Obviously the child looks in wonder on any phenomena. A beautiful toyawakens in him this astonishment, and with this toy the child plays. This capacity of wonderdisappears as the child grows, as his sensual mind receives data from school and college. And till the time the child becomes a youth, the young boy has already completely lost thiscapacity of astonishment.

Unfortunately, the data that one receives in colleges, schools and educational centersonly serve to nourish the sensual mind, and nothing else. In this way, actually with theseeducational systems, from schools, academies, and universities the only thing that we canreally achieve there is to make for ourselves an artificial Personality.

To give an account of this, in reality, the knowledge that is studied in schools and universitieswill never serve to form the Equilibrated Human Being, the fourth type of person.

Therefore, this type of knowledge serve only to:

    1. Falsify the knowledge of the Five Centers of the human machine.

    2. To take the capacity of astonishment away from us.

    3. To develop the sensual mind.

    4. To form a false personality within us.

Therefore, it should be clearly understood that the sensual mind cannot produce any radicaltransformation in any way within ourselves.

Nonetheless, there is a struggle within us because, the sensual mind is the clear enemy of the Inner mind.

The sensual mind is identified with any circumstance, for example, if suddenly we findourselves at a sumptuous banquet and we identify ourselves a great deal with the food wewill convert ourselves into gluttons or if we get identified with the wine, we end up drunk. Ifwe see a person of the opposite sex in front of us who is fascinating and interesting, we willbecome very identified with that person and end up fornicating or simply, we are changedinto adulterers. To create the Equilibrated Man in these circumstances, in this way, is notpossible.

If in some way we have to start the work of creating the Equilibrated Man, this will come

  • 7/28/2019 4 Riding the Dragon, The Three Types of Mind

    11/13

from real, true work on ourselves, without ever getting identified with any circumstance, whileobserving ourselves from instant to instant, from moment to moment.

When we expound the limitations of the sensual mind, we fully recognize the usefulnessof the sensual mind and that we need to live in perfect Equilibrium whilst knowing how to

drive the Inner mind and knowing how to drive the sensual mind.

Because if one does not know how to drive the sensual mind then one forgets that thereis a need to pay the rent, one forgets that their exists a need to eat in order to exist, oneforgets their is a need to get dressed and not wander on the streets completely negligent, notaccomplishing his duties in life. Therefore, the sensual mind is necessary, but there is aneed to know how to intelligently drive it with equilibrium, meaning: the Inner mind and thesensual mind must be equilibrated in life.

Some people only preoccupy themselves with the inner mind. For example, certainhermits that live in the caverns of the Himalayas forget that they have a sensual mind. To

simply disregard this mind just like that is absurd. There is a need for the sensual mind tofunction in a equilibrated form in order for one to accomplish his duties of life.

The struggle between the Inner mind and the sensual mind is frightful. Let usremember the Christ when he was fasting in the wilderness. A demon was presented infront of him and told him All of the kingdoms of the world will be granted unto thee, if thoukneel and worship before me. In other words it is the sensual mind tempting him, and thesuperior mind answers him saying, Satan, Satan, it is written you must obey and worshipthe Lord your God.

Jesus never let the sensual mind dominate him, but it does not mean that the sensualmind is useless. Its just that there is a need to have it under control. It must march in perfectequilibrium with the superior mind.

Reasoning is one thing and intuition is another. Reasoning only nourishes itself withexternal sensorial perceptions (by means of the senses it perceives or receives impressionsand then produces sensations). Thus, reasoning ends up being negative and limited. The reasoning person believes that he can attain the truth through the struggle of antithesis, but this struggle only divides the mind and incapacitates its ability to comprehend the truth.

The intuitive person knows how to listen only to the voice of the silence. Thus, within

his serene mind, the eternal truths of life are reflected with splendid beauty.

The mind is of a feminine nature, which is made to be RECEPTIVE, to be useful as aPASSIVE INSTRUMENT rather than an ACTIVE INSTRUMENT.

Nonetheless, the painful struggle of reasoning, the useless struggles among the yes andno, between the pleasant and unpleasant, between the acceptance and rejection, betweenbelief and skepticism, between spiritualism and materialism, etc.,. All of these adulterate thenormal functioning of the mind, they put the mind to work as an ACTIVE MASCULINEINSTRUMENT, and subtracts the pliability from it. And hinders it from opening itself for thenew, from receiving the voice of the silence.

The reasoning person converts his mind into a battlefield filled with prejudices, fears,

  • 7/28/2019 4 Riding the Dragon, The Three Types of Mind

    12/13

anxieties, fanaticism, and theories. Yet, such a turbulent lake can never reflect the Sun oftruth.

The mind of the intuitive one passively, serenely and silently flows in the service ofConsciousness or Essence.

The Sensorial Mind only works with the stimulus received from the 5 senses andreacts in an impulsive way without any guidance from above. So, the result is mistakes, pain, disease, stress, anxieties, worries and problems.

Whereas, the Mind of the intuitive one is a marvelous vehicle of the Innermost. Themind of such an intuitive one only acts under the direction of the Innermost.

Hence, from this action emerges right effort, right thinking, and right feeling. What we call the Intuitive action.

The human being who only moves himself under the direction of his Innermost in the world isa happy human being because he is far away from many types of complications andconflicts.

But for that we have to make the Mind receptive and in this way develop the Intuition,so that the Mind becomes a useful passive instrument in the service of the Innermost(Soul).

    Practical Exercise:

The mantra "Om Mani Padme Hum" which esoterically is pronounced as "Om Masi PadmeYom" develops intuition when it is daily vocalized for ten minutes. This is the mantra ofintuition.

This mantra is vocalized as follows:

    Ooooommmm Mmmmaaaa Ssssssssiiiiiiiii Paaaadmmmeeeee Yoooommmmmm.

You have to prolong the vowels. mmm sound as in hmmmm.

Please sit comfortably, close your eyes, relax and vocalize the mantra with the videobelow (If initially, it's difficult for you to vocalize the mantra along with the video, just closeyour eyes and listen to this video, it will help you awaken your Inner Mind):
