LEVELING

The freezer must have all bottom corners resting firmly on asolid floor. The floor must be strong enough to support a fullyloaded keeze_ NOTE: It is Very Important for your freezer to belevel in order to function properl_ If the freezer is not leveledduring in_allation, thedoor may be misalignedand not close Or seal

properly, causingcooling, froM, or moistureproblems.

To Level Freezer:

After discarding cratingscrews and wood base, c_ing

use a carpeoter's level tOlevel the freezer from

front-to-back. Adiust theplastic leveling feet infront, ½ bubble higher, sothat the door closes

easily when left halfwayopen.

Unpaokmg and L_eling

Leveltng Instructions tot all Retrlgerator/Freezer Pair:

Remove two leg levelers provided in literature bag. Whileunit is lying on its back for wood skid removal, install bothleg levelers in rear of unit.

Level door of first unit using all four levelers and slide unitinto place. Recheck for levelness and adiust if necessary.Measure distance horn floor to bottom of door on first unit.

Adjust and level second unit so door height matches.

Leg Level Adiustments

One full turn of all four leg levelers will raise door 5/32".

One full turn of both froot leg levelers will raise door3/16" and tilt top of door back 7/16".

One full turn of both reaJ leg levelers will lower door1/32" and tilt top of door foP,_aJd 7/16".

One full turn of both side leg levelers will raise door3/16" and tilt top of door 3/8".

Slide second unit into place leaving a minimum gap of 3/16"between units for door swing clearance.

This last step may require at least one extJaction of thesecond unit to properly align units in a "built-in" application.

DOOR REMOVAL

If door must be removed

1. Geotly lay freezer on its back, on a rug oJ blankeh

2. Remove two base 9cre_'9 al_d base pan®L

3. Remove bottom Mnge screws.

4. Remove plastic top Mnge coveL

5. Remove screws from top Mnge.

6. Remove top hinge from cabinet.

7. Remove door and bottom hinge from cabinet.

6. To replace door, reverse the above oJder and manner ofremoval. Securely tighten all screws to prevent hingeslippage.

iCE MAKER iNSTALLATiON

g your Freezer has an automatic ice maker, please refer to thetwo inserts in the bond pack that came with your Freezer (1.Installation Instructions & 2. Installation - Connecting Ice Makerto Water Supply) to correctly hook-up your ice maker.

COOLDOWNPERIOD

For safe food storage, allow 4 hours for the freezer tocool down completely. The freezer will run continuouslyfor the first several hours. Foods that aJe already frozenmay be placed in the freezer after the first few hours ofoperation. Unfrozen foods should NOT be loaded intothe freezer until the freezer has operated for 4 hours.

When loading the freezer, freeze only 3 pounds offresh food per cubic foot of freezer space at one time.Distribute packages to be frozen evenly throughout thefreezer. It is not necessary to turn the control knob to acolder setting while freezing food.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL

The temperature cootrol is located

inside the freezer on upright models.The temperature is factory preset to

provide satisfactory food storagetemperatures. However, the \temperature control is adjustaMe to

provide a range of temperatures for Cold Controlyour personal satisfaction. If a coldertemperatuJe is desired, turn the temperature control knobtowaJd COLDEST and allow several hours for temperatures tostabilize between adjustments.

iNTERiOR LiGHTiNG

The lights comes on automatically when the door is opened. Toreplace tbe light bulb, turn the temperature control to OFF andunplug the electrical cord. Replace the old bulb with a bulb ofthe same wattage.

SLIDE-OUT BASKET

A Slide-Out Basket located at

the bottom of the freezenprovides separate storage

space for items that are difficultto store on freezer shelves. To

remove the basket, pull out andlift up.

TILT-OUT SHELF

This shelf is locatedinside on the freezer

door and providesadditional storagespace. To access anitem, tilt top of "basket"sbelf down.

MID LEVEL LIGHTING

The lights comes on automatically when the door is opened. To

replace the light bulb, turn the temperature control to OFF and

unplug the electrical cord. Remove thelens from the lamp housing

by unsnapping it from the lamp housing using your fingers or a

screwdriver. Be careful not to break the locking tabs on the lamp

housing. Replace the old bulb with a bulb of the same type and

wattage. To replace the lens, snap one side of the lens opening to

the tab on the lamp housing. Then carefully attach the other side.

ADJUSTABLE INTERIOR

SHELVES

Multi-position adiustable interiorshelves can be moved to anyposition for larger or smallerpackages. The shipping spacersthat stabilize the shelves for

shipping may be removed anddiscarded.

TO ADJUST CANTILEVERSHELVES

Lift front edge up.Pull shelf out.

Replace the shelf byinserting the hooks at rear ofthe shelf into the wallbracket. Lower the shelf intothe desired slots and lock

into position.

The freezeJ should be located in the coolest

area of the room, away from beat producingappffances or heating ducts, and out ofdhect sunlight.

Let hot foods cool to room temperaturebefore placing in the freezer. Overloading

tbe freezer forces the compressor to run longer. Foods thatfreeze too slowly may spoil or lose quality.

Be sure to wrap foods properly, and wipe containeJs drybefore placing them in the freezer. This cuts down onfrost build-up inside the freezer.Freezer shelves should not be lined with aluminum foil,wax paper, or paper toweling. Liners interfere with coldair circulation, making the freezer less efficienb

Organize and label food to reduce door openings andextended searches. Remove as many items as neededat one time, and close the door as soon as possible.

VACATION AND MOVING TIPS

Short Vacations:

Leave the heezer operating during vacations of lessthan three weeks.

Long Vacations:

If the freezer will not be used for several months:

Remove all food and unplug the power cord.

Clean and dry the interior thoroughly.

Leave the freezel door open slightly, blocking it open ifnecessary, to prevent odor and mold gro_Ah.

Moving: When moving the treezer, tollow these

guidelines to prevent damage:

Disconnect the power cord plug from the wall outlet.Remove foods, then defrost, and clean the freezer.

Secure all loose items such as base panel, baskets, andshelves by taping them securely in place to preventdamage,

TURNINGYOUR ICE MAKER OFF

To stop the ice maker, lift the wire signal arm until it clicks andlocks in the "up" or OFF position. The ice maker also turns offautomatically when the ice container is full. If your model has anadjustable freezer shelf, place tbe shelf in the lower position, sothat _he wire signal arm will hit the ice when the container is full.

If a power failure occurs, frozen foods will stay frozen for atleast 24 hours if the freezer is kept closed. If the power failurecontinues, pack seven or eight pounds of dry ice into the freezerevery 24 bouts. Look in the Yello_t7Pages under Dry Ice, Dairies,or Ice Cream Manutacturers for local dry ice suppliers. Alwayswear gloves and use caution when handling dry ice.

If the freezer has stopped operating, see Freezer Does NotRun in the Troubleshooting Guide. If you cannot solve theproblem, call Sears Service kemediately.

If the freezer Jemains off for several hours, follow the directionsabove for the use of dry ice during a power tailure. If necessary,take the food to a local locker plant until the freezer is ready tooperate. Look in the Yellow Pages under Frozen Food LockerPlants.

if your heezer has an automatic ice maken _twill provide asufficient supply of ice for normal use. During the initial _ariupof your freezer, however, no ice will be produced during tbe first24 hours of operation. Automatic ice makers are also optionalaccessories that may be in.ailed in some models at any time.Call your local dealer for information.

TURNINGYOUR ICE

After the plumbingconnections have been

completed, the watersupply valve must be

opened. Place the icecontainer under the ice

maker, pushing it as farback as possible. Lowerthe wire signal arm to its"dowiP' or ON position.New plumbingconnections may Cause

the first production of ice cubes to be discolored or have an oddflavor. These first cubes sbould be discaJded until the cubes

produced are free of discoloration and taste.

ICE MAKER TIPS

Leveling Bracket

Ice cubes stored too long may develop an odd flavor.Empty the ice container and ensure that the wire signalarm is in its "down" or ON position. The ice maker willtben produce more ice.

Occasionally shake the ice container to keep iceseparated.

Keep the wire signal arm in its "up" or OFF position untiltbe freezer is connected to tbe water supply or whenevertbe water supply is turned off.

The following sounds are normal when the ice maker isoperating:

Motor running

Ice loosening from tray

Ice dropping into ice container

Running water

Water valve opening or closing

Wash the ice container in warm water with mild detergent.Rinse well and dry.

Stop the ice maker when cleaning tbe freezer and duringvacations,

If the ice maker will be turned off for a long period of time,turn the water supply valve to the closed position.
