Positive Behaviour for Learning Spotlight
As I’ve walked around the school over the past two weeks, I have been
amazed and very pleased with the learning opportunities students are
immersed in.
Our learning and support team led by Mrs Pearson, have targeted both
individual students and groups of students to address identified needs
whether in class or withdrawn support. MiniLit led by Mrs Cathor is targeting
students in Year 2 and MultiLit has been continually supported by our
volunteers. We are having success with our afternoon activity groups
specifically targeting social and relationship building skills.
It has been great to see the wonderful learning and engagement happening
across all seven of our classrooms. Literacy activities such as reading and
writing fluency, and Sound Waves spelling lessons have been my focus. I’ve
been very pleased with the effort and enjoyment happening with our students
and teachers.
The learning hasn’t stopped with the teachers either. This week, staff
members have engaged in professional learning specifically targeted to
support our school’s strategic directions. Learning that has addressed
Evaluation Essentials for School Leaders, Quality Teaching Rounds, Learning
Progressions and Financial Health Check courses.
Good luck to our 4 students representing the Far South Coast at the regional
cross country this Friday. Lucy W, Samuel, Sienna Co and Ziggy who
compete on the challenging Nowra course have been training hard. We look
forward to hearing how they go.
Our soccer team played Merimbula PS last Tuesday playing well, going down
4-1. Once again a great result for our school to make it through to the 3rd
round of the state knockout.
Our softball team hosted Pambula PS and even though we lost the game and
the wind was freezing, the girls played with wonderful spirit. It is great to be
able to host games such as these within our school grounds and have
students down to support. I know the girls have thoroughly enjoyed their
training sessions with Fran, Sara and Ms Daly.
Congratulations to our girls AFL team who made the Paul Kelly Cup area final
last Friday. The girls won 2 games before going down in the grand final. Once
again an awesome effort and the team should be very proud of themselves.
Our Netball team will be taking on Merimbula PS this Wednesday as they
continue their way through the state knockout. It is our home game and the
team will play at Bermagui Sports Stadium. Good luck girls.

PSSA SOCCER TEAMLast Tuesday, Bermagui PS boys soccer team travelled to
Dalmeny to take on Merimbula PS in Round 3 of the PSSA
knockout. The boys played well, particularly in the last part of the
first half when they were able to score an equalising goal, thanks
to a strong run down the right side by Samuel G. Elijah played well
in goals in the first half, making an important save. Strong efforts in
defence from James and Ziggy inspired the team to lift but
Merimbula's pressure in their attacking half played off, with the
game finishing 4-1, Merimbula PS advancing. The boys can be
congratulated on their efforts and sportsmanship. Well done to Mrs
Loughran for coaching and thank you to the parents who were able
to provide transport and cheer on the boys.

PSSA STATE KNOCKOUT SOFTBALLLast Thursday, 30 May saw our girls play Pambula in the
second round of the PSSA State Knockout Softball
competition. The girls were amazing, but unfortunately,
Pambula were too good for us. Congratulations to Pambula
and best of luck for your future games.
Many thanks to:
Fran and Sara for all your help coaching the girls, they learnt
a lot.
Vanessa for scoring on the day.
Karina – the Bega Softball Club umpire.
Natalia – assistant manager (unable to play due to injury,
but still came to every training session).
Steve – for marking out the “diamond”.
Phoebe and Seanna M – who stepped up to be our pitchers.
Once again girls I thoroughly enjoyed the journey with you.

PAUL KELLY CUP FINALS AT MORUYALast Friday our girls’ team headed up to Moruya for the South
Coast finals of the Paul Kelly Cup. They played four games in the
round robin and made it into the final to decide the team to play the
winners from the Illawarra. The girls were amazing and played
against some very strong competitors. They can hold their heads
high as the final was a strongly contested game. Unfortunately,
they lost but they should be proud of themselves as the played in
the true spirit of the game. Lynne Daly
