4-H Youth Development Program
Dear Sir or Madam,
We would like to ask you to consider supporting the Placer County 4-H Horse Project with a financial
donation. Donations like yours go a long way to help us pay for our yearly Placer County Qualifying
Horse Show.
4-H strives to create an atmosphere where youth are able to explore knowledge, share ideas, grow skills,
and find their passion. Research shows that when youth are engaged and self-direct their own learning,
their learning is optimized. In 2018, California State 4-H SPARK surveys tell a story about the youth who
participate in our program. By grade 8, 71% of youth have goal management skills, 95% are willing to
work hard on something difficult, 83% are comfortable being a leader, 78% have high self-esteem, 81%
have positive relationships with others and 98% respect others ideas.
Some of the costs incurred to provide quality, affordable opportunities for 4-H youth working in our
equine project are facility use, judging fees, administrative materials and awards. Placer County 4-H
Horse Project strives to offer all youth in 4-H the ability to gain confidence, learn new skills, achieve
personal and team goals, and most importantly, have fun! The Placer County 4-H Qualifying Horse Show
is open to our beginning equine members (age 9), all the way through to our advanced competitors (up
to age 19). The winners of the show have the opportunity to go on to represent Placer County 4-H Horse
Project at the California State Fair “Best of County” Horse Show and the California 4-H Classic Horse
Show.
4-H is the largest Youth Organization in the Nation. We are an adult volunteer run non-profit program
that engages youth, supporting them in reaching their fullest potential while advancing the field of
youth development. Your support of the 4-H youth in Placer County is invaluable. The 4-H Tax Exempt
ID Number will be provided upon receipt of your donation.
Thank you for your generous donation and support of our Placer County 4-H youth members.
