ties. Awards include scholarships to

Teen Conference at UK, National 4-H

Congress in Atlanta, National 4-H Con-

ference in Washington, D.C. and col-

2018 Summer 4-H Camp Intern Opportunities

Kentucky 4-H Camp is seeking program and medical staff who can provide top-notch customer service through high-quality educational programming for campers and volunteers at its four residential 4-H summer camping programs.

How old must an applicant be to apply? Applicants must be 18 or older by May 1, 2018 to be eligible for a summer employment position.

When is the deadline to apply? February 24, 2018

How do I apply? All applications must be submitted online at www.uky.edu/hr (click on Cooperative Extension jobs).

Do I have to be in college to apply? Do I have to go to UK to apply? No. Priority is given to applicants who are actively enrolled in ANY college & individuals who have obtained a de-gree.

Is 4-H experience of camp experience required? No. To form a successful staff team requires individuals of varying backgrounds & experiences. While experience with 4-H & camping does not hurt, we are looking for more! Priority is given to applicants with employment or vol-unteer experiences that contribute to the positions for which they are applying.

Do I stay in a cabin with campers? Do I have to live at camp? The staff is required to live on-site during camp sessions. The staff is housed in air-conditioned cabins separate from campers.

What is the background check process? Applicants are screened through a national criminal background check and a check of the National Sex Offender Registry. Employment offers are contingent upon passing both of these pre-employment checks.

How many hours do staff work? Residential summer camp is not a 9 to 5 type job. Applicants should be prepared for long hours, nights, and week-ends. Camp Directors work to ensure staff is provided time off to ensure each staff member is performing at his or her best potential.

When are interviews? When will I know if I got the job? The Camp Leadership Team will be conducting interviews on four different dates: March 10, 11, 17, and 18. Quali-fied applicants will be contacted via email to schedule an interview. The Camp Leadership Team will meet shortly after the final set of interviews to discuss & review applicants. Reviewing applications and interview materials for four camps and 56 positions require a great deal of time and thought to ensure the right teams are formed. We do, however, acknowledge the need for a timely notification of job offers. It will be our goal to make job offers by the end of the day on March 31, 2018.

When does the camp season start? When will the job position end? Applicants must be available for the entirety of the summer camping season (mid-May through early August), in-cluding training sessions, weekend rentals, Cloverbud camps, and camp sponsored events. Specific start and end dates fluctuate slightly based on camp location.
