What is University18

The Karnataka State Open University was established on 1st June, 1996 vide Karnataka Government Notification No. ED 1 UOV 95 dated 12th February, 1996, Karnataka State Open University Act of 1992, keeping in view the educational needs of our country and the Karnataka State, in particular. It is the Eighth Open University in the country. The university is an erstwhile Institute of Correspondence Courses of Mysore University and enjoys a unique privilege of a long and rich experience in the field of distance education.

It is also member of the Association of the Indian Universities (AIU) as well as Commonwealth University Association. It is also a recognized member of University of Distance Education Council (DEC), Ministry of HRD,Government of India and is a permanent member of Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU), Beijing, China since 1999. All Degrees of KSOU are recognized by the Distance Education Council, New Delhi.

The Open Learning System is a unique and challenging mode of education offered at the University level. This system provides ample opportunities for those who desire to have University Education at their place of work or residence. This method is popularly known as Distance Education. At the outset, let me modestly claim that I am no novice to management training and courses. I have had the opportunity of commencing an MBA program with the State University of New York in 1995, which unfortunately had to terminated after one semester due to compelling circumstances back in India. I had also been trained by Bharat Petroleum as a Master Trainer and have been a Business Coach certified by Arther D. Little, USA. Its just that I don't hold a formal MBA degree yet. (My CV sent with the application form should bear me out on this claim). Incidentally I had cleared my Marketing credits then while in SUNY. And if I compare the session today with the session by those American professors, let me assure you, the quality of the session today was by far superior to what I had attended in SUNY. I am honestly impressed by the effort being made by all of you in delivering these off site MBA course contents and lectures which speaks volumes of your commitment to quality education. Honestly this is far more than I ever expected, and am I glad to be a part of this program and learning. Incidentally my son has also begun an MBA program with IMT Dubai this year. In terms of quality, I think both father and son are on an even keel. However, in terms of costs his degree is going to cost me 100 times more!! So keep up this excellent work and I am sure, your efforts in distance education will not go unnoticed by the discerning ones.
