Describe the common signs and symptoms of each disease process. 2. Determine the etiology of each of the disease specified, as commonly encountered in the primary care setting. 3. Analyze the epidemiology affecting each one of the medical conditions listed. 4. Describe the pathophysiology for each disease. 5. Select the appropriate diagnostic tests, and interpret the results, for each of the medical conditions listed. 6. Correlate the clinical findings with diagnostic tests results, in determining a diagnosis, and differential diagnoses. 7. Formulate a treatment plan for each of the listed medical condition. 8. Recommend follow-up regimens and provide patient education. 9. Discuss current preventive measures and apply them to a given situation Topics include: Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Infection: Acute Chronic AIDS Principles of antiretroviral therapy (HAART-Highly Active Anti-retroviral Therapy) Common Opportunistic Infections associated with HIV, including treatment and prevention: Bacterial, including mycobacteria and STI’s Viral Fungal Protozoal Neoplasia associated with HIV infection Reading: CMDT Ch. 31 required; Cecil Ch. 108 recommended
