Canada will not participate in the events to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the Durban Declaration and Program of Action (DDPA) in September 2011, announced Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney.“Just as Canada was first the in the world to withdraw from Durban 2, so too Canada will lead by not attending this new Durban event,” said Minister Kenney. “Our government has lost faith in the Durban process. We will not be part of this event, which commemorates an agenda that promotes racism rather than combats it.”Canada was the first country in the world to withdraw from the Durban 2 conference, which took place in 2009. Other countries -- including the United States of America, Australia, Israel, the United Kingdom, and most of the European Union -- followed Canada’s lead. Canada’s principled stand

last year was vindicated when Durban II was used by I ranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - the only head of state to at tend - as a vehicle for Holocaust denial and xenophobia.Last December, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolut ion to hold a one-day plenary in September 2011 to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the f i rst Durban conference in 2001. The General Assembly is cur rently f inalizing the details of this event.“Canada will not par t icipate in this charade any longer. The Government of Canada will not lend Canada’s good name to the organized exercise in scapegoat ing that is the Durban process,” said Minister Kenney.Follow us on Twit ter at www.twit ter.com/CitImmCanada

Ontario PC Leader, Tim Hudak, met with real estate agents to discuss the impact of the HST and rising hydro rates on home sales in the region. Hudak also discussed three key policies for the Ontario PCs like helping to create good private sector jobs, refocusing government on the services people need and care about the most, like health care, and giving hard working families the break they deserve. Earlier this week, Hudak addressed the OREA where he thanked the organization for being a strong ally in the fight against Dalton McGuinty’s HST tax grab. In the next provincial election, Ontario families will have a clear choice between Dalton McGuinty, whose policies are out of touch with Ontario families and businesses, and a Tim Hudak government that will put families first, get government focused on the services Ontario families

7NEWSGet It When You Can Imran Khan: Bollywood Actor Imran Khan

Lost roles Coz of Looks November 26, 2010 We’ve all read or heard about the unlucky family that is wiped out by a house fire and didn’t have any fire insurance. All too often, people mistakenly believe that it won’t happen to them. The reality is that bad things CAN happen and there is nothing that guarantees they will be immune from disaster. Insurance is simply an economical way to protect ourselves from the financial loss a tragedy can bring. There are a number of factors that can determine if we can even get coverage. Just as it would be impossible to get fire insurance while the house is on fire, other types of insurance can be difficult to get after something has happened:Life Insurance - For several decades, there has been constant downward pressure on life insurance premiums. This has caused the companies to be choosier on whom they insure. Because all life insurance policies have the potential to pay out some day and premiums are the lowest in history, life insurers take a much closer look at the risk. It is becoming more common for policies to be issued with extra premiums or even declined because of an applicant’s health and family history. As the Canadian population, on average, becomes more rotund, a number of issues arise that

can make it more difficult to obtain life insurance. Height and weight is becoming more of a factor as well as elevated blood pressure and cholesterol. It is also a common practice to consider family history and how it can affect your longevity. Load up on coverage when you are young and healthy. Insure your kids.

Critical Illness Insurance - If you are diagnosed with one of the diseases or conditions listed in your critical illness insurance policy and survive a certain number of days, you receive the lump sum you chose. Critical illness insurance pays a benefit even if you are still able to work and can cover a long list of illnesses and conditions. Canada is the only country in the world that offers guaranteed premium critical illness insurance. This

means that once a policy is issued, the premium cannot be changed. Everywhere else, the premiums can be adjusted if claims are higher than expected. Because the premiums are locked in, insurers take a much closer look at who they will insure. Again, get the coverage while you still have your health and before guaranteed premiums are no longer available.Disability Insurance - Like many industrialized nations with aging populations, the ranks of the disabled are growing. In 2007 in Canada, there were three quarters of a million more individuals with disabilities than in 2002. A little more than fourteen percent of the Canadian population reports having some form and level of disability. Again, factors like height and weight, and family history can make it more difficult to get coverage. Many mistakenly believe that group disability insurance at work will be adequate. With the average worker changing employers more frequently, the likelihood of having gaps in coverage increases. Personal disability insurance can have a guaranteed premium and you can take it anywhere.

8 NEWSTraveller’s Choice - Konark Temple Holidays Experience

Jagjit Singh Dubs For An Animation Film

Making one wonder about the engineering prowess of our forefathers is the majestic Sun Temple at Konark built in the thirteenth century. Though partly in ruins, the Temple is a towering testimony to the

Indian medieval architecture. History has it that the Temple was erected just on the seashore as a gigantic chariot of Surya, the Sun God, to commemorate a military victory by the Ganga dynasty King, Narasimhadeva. Kalachakra, the Wheel of Time: Twelve pairs of exquisite, ornate wheels of the chariot, each around ten feet in diameter, are the major attractions of the Temple. The spokes of the wheels serve as sundials, and the shadows formed by these give the precise time of the day. Together, the twelve pairs of wheels (representing 12 months of the year) and the seven horses (representing days of the week) drawing the chariot symbolise the passage of time. Sun in all His glory Images of the mighty Sun are positioned in different directions at Konark capturing the sunrays at different times of the day. On the northern wall is the Sun God called as Astachala-Surya (setting-sun). This beautiful image is carved of high-quality green chlorite stone and is one of the masterpieces of Konark. Surya

wears tall riding boots, and is accompanied by a small figure of Aruna, the charioteer, at his feet. Konark’s presiding deity A flight of steps from the northwestern corner descends

down to the sanctum sanctorum where a black chlorite throne has been constructed. It was on this throne, it is said that the idol of Surya Narayana, the presiding deity of the Konark Sun Temple, was originally enshrined. The idol of Surya Narayana, however, is no longer there. The access to the inner sanctum is currently barred and sealed off. Moving on to the west side one can see Midhyanna-Surya (midday-sun), standing with full energy and power. Scrollwork and carvings The temple walls are adorned by fine scrollwork. These intricate carvings as well as the beautiful cut of animal and human figures, make it a must visit destination for the architecturally inclined.

Decay and reinstatementOver the centuries, the sea receded, the sand engulfed the temple and salty breeze eroded the stones. The temple remained buried under a huge mound of sand until the early 20th century, when restoration began under the British. UNESCO declared the temple a World Heritage Site in 1984. The thought of the majestic temple perched on the seashore with the waves kissing its feet centuries ago, brought back to memory the evergreen melody ‘waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam, hum rahe na hum tum rahe na tum’ (roughly translates to The charming guile of time spares nobody; neither you nor I remain the same). By then it was time to bid adieu and in my heart rose this great

hope that slowly but surely the Orissa government would wake up and restore the Temple to its glory. With a promise of return, I turned back to see the resplendent Sun Temple stand tall in spite of all decay and the shakespearean quote zoomed across my mind: ‘age cannot wither her’, no, not this majestic beauty!’ Getting there: 64 km from Bhubaneswar and 35 km from Puri, Konark can be reached from Bhubaneswar airport or from Puri railway station. In December every year, the electrifying Konark Dance Festival showcasing all forms of Indian classical dances is held. You can visit Konark any time of the year, as it has a favourable climate throughout the 12-month period.

The massive structure of the temple, currently being renovated, was designed as a chariot carrying the Sun God across the heavens and has an east west alignment.

The couple was present at the launch of the new ‘Metro Ads Posters’ at a media event recently. Kareena was wearing a stunning red dress with a black belt, while her boyfriend Saif sported a smart black tuxedo with a white shirt. The endorsement deal was just a photo-shoot and not the normal video commercial. There were some apologies from the couple as they reached the event location three hours late since they were stuck in a traffic jam. However those present enjoyed the warm company of the couple. Golmaal 3 actress Kareena said, “I don’t know if anybody wants to be in our shoes or not; but we are definitely proud to wear Metro shoes!” Meanwhile the fun-loving Khan was very much outspoken and said, “I am proud to be associated with Metro Shoes. It is one of the most successful shoe brands in the country and therefore the biggest and therefore the most complementary brand for ourselves to associate with.”He jokingly added, “I love to wear chappals during summers, but wear black formal shoes on such occasions!” On a slightly professional note, the handsome actor thanked Metro Shoes and said, “Brands do their intensive research before choosing you as the brand ambassador. 13SPORTSSahara India Sports Awards: Sahara Sports Awards 2010 Photos It was a star-studded night! Bollywood stars and cricket big shots were there as performers and entertainers. You believe it or not cricketers are no less than our Bollywood stars.

At the recently held Sahara India Sports Awards, 2010, Virendra Sehwag was simply unstoppable. ‘Delhi darling’ was all set to challenge Shah Rukh Khan and made Sachin Tendulkar dance. Not only this, Sehwag also betted that he will do anything for King Khan.Shah Rukh also took up the challenge and brought Sachin Tendulkar on the stage. Woow what a performance it would have been!! Lucky stage! Now, as everyone knows, Sachin is a

very shy person. He got awfully embarrassed and moved sideways and did a small cute move of dance until SRK came to his rescue and put him out of his misery.

Sachin must be surely grateful to Shahrukh.Actually, Sachin Tendulkar is not a party person and seldom attends parties like this with other friends. Earlier, in various other parties; Sreesant, Harbhajan, Yuvaraaj have tried to make Sachin dance but everything went in vain. So, it was quite a big thing for Sehwag to make the cricket star dance in Sahara India Sports Awards.Sahara India Sports Awards

SHANKAR’S APPROVAL FOR 3 IDIOTS!

Saranya made her debut in Kaadhal as the friend of heroine Sandhya and went to star as one of the heroines in the Jayam Ravi-starrer Peraanmai. The actress is currently working in a couple of films in Tamil and Telugu. She made it to the news when her mother Manjula lodged a complaint that Saranya went missing for more than a month. Manjula claimed Saranya is being held captive by her lover and is refusing to return her.Replying to this allegation, Saranya has said that she is out on her own free will and is not under anyone’s control. She also reportedly refused to return to her mother.

Suriya’s Raktha Charithram, which will be released on December 3rd, 2010, has been certif ied with ‘A’ certif icate. The censor board officials recommended three cuts in the film before certifying it with ‘A’. According to reports, the film has some violent scenes that have earned it the certif icate. On the whole, RC was well-appreciated by the officials that watched the film. The officials have reportedly said that RC is like watching a true life incident right on the screen. Suriya’s performance in RC has also been lauded.

Shankar has silently been working on the 3 Idiots remake and is having all the pre-production work done before commencing the shooting. He will begin canning this remake in December in Delhi, it may be noted. The casting for this film was a topic of discussion as it has three heroes and Shankar finally managed to rope in Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth. Music director Harris Jayaraj, who is composing for this film, has worked on three songs and all the three are reportedly approved by Shankar. Some more songs are to be added and the musician and director are working towards getting it right.

A policeman was taking a vandalism report at an elementary school when he was interrupted by a six year old girl. She looked up and down at his uniform and asked, “Are you a policeman?” “Yes, I am,” he said. “My mother told me that if I ever needed help I should ask a policeman. Is that right,” the girl asked. “Yes it is,” said the policeman. The girl extended her foot to the policeman and said, “OK, then, would you tie my shoe?”

“Oh, boy! I’m glad you’re here,” the little boy said to his grandmother on his mother’s side. “Why?” she asked.”Because now Daddy will do the trick he’s been promising us.” “What trick?””Well, he told Mommy that if you came to visit, he would climb the walls.”

An engineer was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him and said, “If

you kiss me, I’ll turn into a beautiful princess.” He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, “If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week.” The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket. The frog then cried out, “If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I’ll stay with you and do ANYTHING you want.” Again the engineer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket. Finally, the frog asked, “What is the matter? I’ve told you I’m a beautiful princess, that I’ll stay with you for a week and do anything you want. Why won’t you kiss me?” The engineer said, “Look I’m an engineer. I don’t have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that’s cool.” Two molecules are walking down the street. One suddenly stops and says, “Wait, I think I dropped an electron.” The other looks at him and asks “Are you positive?”

Your face can speak your age

The skin on your face is the most vulnerable, it has to put up with a lot of abuse, even the least ignorance causes damage to this skin. The earlier you realize, the more you can preserve it, given that this cannot be replaced!!!! Once the damage is done we have few options to rectify, results may not be the same.Like most of us are aware, our body is made up of

mostly water, once the skin is dehydrated the texture of facial skin deteriorates, dark circles appear, as the skin under the eyes is even more delicate, and much thinner, therefore by drinking required amount of water we can, not only keep our health good, but skin to glow, especially when we are undergoing stress. Dark circles under your eyes make you look unhealthy and older too! Applying make up to contour under eye circles, blemishes and other noticeable scars is doing more harm to skin, as the

more we handle it, the more damage we are doing.Low impact facials, just as a stress reliever, at tension points would be very beneficial, if you have to apply a mask, or make up, always remember to use your fingers only with light strokes. Regular exercise brings glow to your face. Sunscreen (preferably made of natural ingredients) should be used to avoid any discoloration on the face. Avoid crow’s feet, don’t forgot to wear sunglasses if you spend a lot of time in the sun.
