PLUTO IN CAPRICORN:A Brief History of Pluto in the Cardinal Signs

Pluto moved into Capricorn, January 26, 2008, so most ofyou have probably read quite a bit about this already.Capricorn is a cardinal sign, along with Aries, Cancer andLibra. The Sun’s ingress into each cardinal sign is when anew season begins. Zero degrees of cardinal signs arecalled the “Aries Point.”

The approach of this article is to look at the last transit ofPluto in Capricorn, and then a small bit of history aroundeach subsequent Pluto transit of a cardinal sign, to seewhat themes emerge that may be useful to help usanticipate how the world may change during the transit ofPluto in Capricorn which terminates in 2024.

The last time Pluto was in Capricorn was 1762 – 1778,and so the USA was ‘‘born’’ with Pluto at 27 degrees ofCapricorn, in 1776. Pluto takes 248 years to complete itsorbit around the Sun, and due to the elliptical shape of itsorbit, the amount of time spent in each sign varies from 13years in Scorpio, the fastest transit, to about 33 years inTaurus.

Ray Merriman has pointed out the importance of thesynodic cycle of Saturn and Pluto, meaning the cycle ofthe two planets in the sky forming a conjunction (0 degrees)waxing square (90 degrees) opposition (180 degrees) andwaning square (270 degrees) – known as ‘‘hard aspects.’’He has also pointed out that since the United States hasits wealth planets (Jupiter and Venus) in early cardinalsigns; this may explain why the transit of the slower-movingplanets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) to cardinal signsimpacts our economy.

Due to the number of years in each sign, Pluto forms atleast one hard aspect to Saturn in each sign. By alsolooking at the periods when Pluto is forming a hard aspectto Saturn in this article, we hope to get even more granularas to what to anticipate. We have the waning squarecoming up this Fall (Saturn ingress into Libra) and therewill be a conjunction applying in January 2019, so anypredictions we extrapolate from history may apply to thesetimes, with some ‘‘time orb’’ on either side. This article isalso going to focus on the Saturn-Pluto hard aspectsoccurring near the Aries Point, as that is also what isoccurring this fall and recurring July-August 2010.

“The Seven Years War (1689-1763) was a massive conflict involvingAustria, England, France, Great Britain, Prussia, and Sweden. The conflictwas played out in Europe, India, and North America. In Europe, Sweden,Austria, and France were allied to crush the rising power of Frederick theGreat, King of Prussia.

The English and the French battled for colonial domination in NorthAmerica, the Caribbean, and in India. The English did ultimately come todominate the colonial outposts, but at a cost so staggering that the resultingdebt nearly destroyed the English government. It was that debt that causedthe escalation of tensions leading to the Revolutionary War. Parliamentwas desperate to obtain two objectives; first, to tax the colonies to recovermonies expended on the battle over North America and second to restorethe profitability of the East India Company in an effort to recover moniesspent on the battle over India.

The French and Indian War, as it was referred to in the colonies, was thebeginning of open hostilities between the colonies and Great Britain.England and France had been building toward a conflict in America since1689.”

In 1764, the Brits amended the Sugar Act to tax theAmerican colonies on a variety of items, including sugar.Isn’t it interesting the Congress is now considering taxingsoda with a high sugar content to help fund the health carereform?

In 1765 the Stamp Act was passed for taxing the colonies,and the Virginia Assembly challenged the right of GreatBritain to tax the Colonists.1 Both taxes were perceived bythe colonists to be the first to raise money for England ratherthan regulate commerce, and it was done so without theapproval of the colonial legislature. Allowing this to happenwithout protest, reasoned the colonists, would set precedentthat would allow England to add taxes at will.

It was interesting to see how quickly after Pluto transitedinto Capricorn, the serious problems between the colonistsand Britain escalated, and that they were over taxes! Evenmore interesting was that a key reason that taxes werebeing raised was to pay for “King George’s Wars” whichhad done much damage to the British coffers. Quickly afterthe Stamp Act was passed, the slogan “No taxation withoutrepresentation” rang throughout the land.2

Boston Non-Importation AgreementAugust 1, 1768

The merchants and traders in the town of Boston having taken intoconsideration the deplorable situation of the trade, and the many difficultiesit at present labors under on account of the scarcity of money, which isdaily increasing for want of the other remittances to discharge our debtsin Great Britain, and the large sums collected by the officers of the customsfor duties on goods imported; the heavy taxes levied to discharge thedebts contracted by the government in the late war; the embarrassmentsand restrictions laid on trade by several late acts of parliament;together with the bad success of our cod fishery, by which our principalsources of remittance are like to be greatly diminished, and we therebyrendered unable to pay the debts we owe the merchants in GreatBritain, and to continue the importation of goods from thence; We, thesubscribers, in order to relieve the trade under those discouragements,to promote industry, frugality, and economy, and to discourage luxury,and every kind of extravagance, do promise and engage to and witheach other as follows: 3

The details are not reprinted here, as we think the readergets the idea and what follows are the specifics of datesduring which the Boston province would neither import norexport goods with Great Britain, so it was a boycott of trade.

In 1773, Britain's East India Company was sitting on largestocks of tea that it could not sell in England. It was on theverge of bankruptcy. In an effort to save it, the governmentpassed the Tea Act of 1773, which gave the company theright to export its merchandise directly to the colonieswithout paying any of the regular taxes that were imposedon the colonial merchants, who had traditionally served asthe middlemen in such transactions. With these privileges,the company could undersell American merchants andmonopolize the colonial tea trade. The act provedinflammatory for several reasons. First, it angered influentialcolonial merchants, who feared being replaced andbankrupted by a powerful monopoly. The East IndiaCompany's decision to grant franchises to certain Americanmerchants for the sale of their tea created furtherresentments among those excluded from this lucrativetrade. More important, however, the Tea Act revived

American passions about the issue of taxation withoutrepresentation. The law provided no new tax on tea. LordNorth assumed that most colonists would welcome the newlaw because it would reduce the price of tea to consumersby removing the middlemen. But the colonists respondedby boycotting tea. Unlike earlier protests, this boycottmobilized large segments of the population. It also helpedlink the colonies together in a common experience of masspopular protest. Particularly important to the movement werethe activities of colonial women, who were one of theprincipal consumers of tea and now became the leaders ofthe effort to the boycott.”

In 1711, the British East India Company (EIC) was one ofthree holders of the debt of the British Government,somewhat the reverse of the U.S. Government owning alarge percentage of various corporations’ debts today. Thereason that EIC was near bankruptcy was that India hadsuffered very bad economic times for the two precedingyears, and EIC and the British government had a very closerelationship sharing the duties of “governing” India underBritish rule and profiting from trade with India. Similarly, theSouth Sea Company (yes, as in South Sea Bubble) hadexclusive rights to the Slave Trade to the colonies, and wasthe largest holder of British debt in 1711.

Clearly, there was much more to the colonists’ rebellionagainst the ships full of tea than initially meets the eye, andwe see a connection between “Big Business” andGovernment, with Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto went intoCapricorn January 27, 2008, and by March 17, 2008 wehad the government stepping in and negotiating a sale tounload bankrupt Bear Stearns. The wildly optimistic era ofPluto in Sagittarius had ended and once into Capricorn, ourperspective changed completely as we realized how allcaution had been thrown to the wind as we collectivelyembraced a worldview that housing prices can only rise,and that high leverage is not risky.

• November 2, 1776 - Saturn square Pluto 26 Libra – 26Capricorn

• April 19, 1777 - Saturn square Pluto 0 Scorpio Rx – 0Aquarius

• August 14, 1777 - Saturn square Pluto 28 Libra – 28Capricorn

Once again we, the people, have reason to be upset aboutthe joint action (or inaction) of government and thecorporations. The final straw for the Revolution in 1775 was,in fact, triggered by those ships of tea sent from EnglandDecember 16, 1773. On February 19, 1775, Saturn was inLibra applying to square Pluto in Capricorn, when theParliament of Great Britain declared Massachusetts inrebellion. 4

The History of Corporations in the United States, theDeclaration of Independence, in 1776, freed Americansnot only from Britain, but also from the tyranny of Britishcorporations. For a hundred years after the document’ssigning, Americans remained deeply suspicious ofcorporate power. They were careful about the way theygranted corporate charters, and about the powers grantedtherein.

For a century the new nation kept corporations on a tightleash. “They weren’t allowed to participate in the politicalprocess. They couldn’t buy stock in other corporations.And if one of them acted improperly, the consequenceswere severe.” (Lasn)

Gover goes on to tell how an important error in 1886 and aSupreme Court decision in 1976 have given thecorporations the power they have today; having enormousinfluence over the political process with the contributionsthey are now allowed to make to the members of Congress.

We highly recommend Robert Gover’s book, as he is asuccessful writer so this Astro-economic jewel is extremelyentertaining as well as greatly educational. Our article is agranular look at a slice of what is covered in the book.Gover also points out that on the date of the Boston TeaParty; Pluto is at 3 Capricorn, where it returned in March2009.

So, to recap what we have covered so far. The AmericanRevolution was started because the colonists were upsetabout unfair trade giving the British Corporations controlof the profits; with the enforcement of the BritishGovernment, who was beholden to the corporationsbecause they owned the debt of the government. Onewould surmise that the government was also collecting taxrevenues from those corporations, which it badly needed.

As we approach our “Pluto return” with Pluto in Capricornfor the first time since the Revolution, our government hasgone deeply into debt to “bailout” corporations andgovernment sponsored entities that got in trouble largelyas a result of the failure of government to do its job ofproviding checks and balances, which agencies are paidto do. The large investment banks, Lehman Brothers,Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Merrill Lynch and BearStearns, were granted permission to raise their leveragefrom 12:1 to 40:1 in 2004-2005 by the head of the SEC(Securities and Exchange Commission). This means theycould raise their risk level far beyond the amount of capitalthey held. William Donaldson, who was appointed byGeorge W. Bush to be Chairman of the SEC, to succeedHarvey Pitt who had left after the 3.85 billion dollarWorldCom “accounting error,” the collapse of Enron andother corporate debacles, approved the change.

On September 15, 2008, the financial system went into astate of “cardiac arrest” as it was announced that Fannie

Mae and Freddie Mac would require bailouts. Thesegovernment sponsored entities (GSEs) had over $394billion of mortgage backed securities, issued by otherinstitutions, in 2007. What does this mean? Beyond buyingthe risky “sub-prime” loans that Congress encouraged themto do, they added another 400 billion dollars, or so, of riskfor us taxpayers by playing in the CDO (Collateralized DebtObligations) markets. Purchasing CDOs was notauthorized in the charters of these GSE’s. The head ofFannie Mae was Chairman Barney Franke’s significantother, and Fannie and Freddie made contributions to nearlyeverybody in Congress. But 400 billion dollars of assetsthat were not authorized in their charter and nobody hasbeen indicted? Barney Franke repeatedly assuredeveryone that Fannie and Freddie did not pose a financialrisk, as Alan Greenspan had claimed. We bring this upbecause as you will see, the upcoming aspects coincidewith some big scandals, so we are wondering which ofmany possibilities may play out.

We don’t know if the housing industry, which really gaineda lot, contributed to the coffers of those who took such aninterest in increasing home ownership by 4% for those“underserved” borrowers, or if it was just the mortgageindustry, who made lots of money on loan origination andprocessing fees, or if there is another scenario. If thereare about 300 million people in this country, 400 billiondollars represents about thirteen hundred dollars for everyperson. It is difficult to know what percentage of peopleowned homes, clearly not 100%, but the financial disastercould have been averted had Congress just decided tobuy homes outright for an additional 4% of the population,and it would have saved us taxpayers a lot of money.We think it is pretty clear that on the “Pluto return,” we areback to where we started. Instead of the British governmenttaxing us to support British corporations and governmentitself; we have the U.S. government taxing us to supportU.S. corporations and the U.S. Government, which isgrowing rapidly. The spending on war is continuing, as itappears that the decision has been made to increaseactivity in Afghanistan.

Let’s look briefly at Pluto transits through the cardinal signs,especially when squaring Saturn.

Pluto moved to Aries in 1823, the year of the MonroeDoctrine. Pluto was in Aries until 1851, receiving 3 hardaspects from Saturn:

• 1826-1827- Saturn square Pluto 4-6 Cancer/Aries• 1834 – Saturn opposite Pluto 12 Libra/Aries• 1843 – Saturn square Pluto 20-22 Capricorn/Aries

1826-1827 - Andrew Jackson was running for presidentagain. Even though he received the most popular votes inthe 1824 election, he did not have a majority. Because


none of the candidates had a majority, the election wasdecided by the House of Representatives in 1825. Theychose John Quincy Adams to be president. During thecampaign, some of Jackson’s opponents referred to himas “Jackson the jackass.” This appellation, which Jacksonliked, eventually led to cartoonist Thomas Nast penningthe “jackass” which became the symbol for the DemocraticParty. In 1828, Jackson became the first Democrat electedto the Presidency. He governed from 1829 to 1837, sincehe easily won re-election in 1832.

1833- President Jackson moves against the Bank of U.S.(withdrawal of all government deposits).5 This wasJackson’s retaliation against the bank for bad acts.

May 10, 1837 began the Panic of 1837, with Saturn at the“Aries Point” opposite Pluto in Aries by sign. FromWikipedia, “The Panic of 1837 was a panic in the UnitedStates built on a speculative fever. The bubble burst onMay 10, 1837 in New York City, when every bank stoppedpayment in specie (gold and silver coinage). The Panicwas followed by a five-year depression, with the failure ofbanks and record high unemployment levels.

This Panic was preceded by many of the events we haveseen recently, including wild speculation and ensuing rapidincrease in land values. This panic lasted into the followingSaturn square Pluto in 1843, and some reports say beyondit into 1844.

• October 1914 – May 1915 - Saturn in Cancer conjunctPluto in Cancer at the Aries Point.

Pluto moved into Cancer in 1913, the year the U.S.government created the income tax and the FederalReserve. The income tax was instituted because it wasonly going to be applied to “the rich” who made at least$20,000 per year, or the equivalent of about $200,000today. Richard Nixon was born, and World War I began in1914. In 1911, Britain passed an unemployment andnational health care act, and in 1913, there were Suffragettedemonstrations in London.

• October 1922 – Saturn square Pluto 11 Libra/11Cancer

• February – December 1931 – Saturn makes 3oppositions to Pluto 19-21 Capricorn/Cancer

Ray Merriman has pointed out for many years that theGreat Depression occurred with Saturn, Pluto and Uranusin cardinal signs.

The Federal Reserve was “born” with Sun opposite Pluto

around 0 degrees of Capricorn/Cancer (at the Aries Point).Pluto rules empowerment. While it can be argued that theFederal Reserve, who is responsible for setting the reserverequirements for the banks, missed the risk to the bankingindustry; nonetheless, the Fed has been grantedextraordinary powers to deal with financial crises. Eventoday, the “reforms” being debated include giving the Fedeven more power. Limited research on my part suggestspart of the reason for the creation of the Fed was a requestfrom Wall Street, after the Panic of 1907, to guaranteeliquidity in times of financial crisis.

• September 1973 – May 1974 – Saturn square Pluto 3-4 Cancer/Libra

Pluto moved into Libra in 1971. The war in Vietnam becamevery unpopular. President Nixon “closed the gold window”after a couple of countries had demanded millions of dollarsin gold because they were worried about the value of thedollar, largely due to the money being spent on the warwhich was creating deficits. There was the Watergatebreak-in and ensuing scandal that cost Nixon hispresidency. Libra rules relationships, and Lee Marvin wassued for “palimony.”

In 1973, Jupiter moved into Aquarius and we had Saturnsquaring Pluto in Libra from Cancer on the Aries Point.(Jupiter is in Aquarius now, and Saturn will square Pluto inlate October from early Libra (at the Aries Point). This wasa period of high inflation. The oil embargo of 1973 resultedin gas lines, and gold began a meteoric rise after Nixonended the Bretton Woods Monetary System. The S&P lostover 48% in 1973 & 1974 – the worst drop since 1929-1932.

The “Emergency Loan Guarantee Act,” which was passedin August, 1971 6, was a bailout by the government and theFederal Reserve. (Pluto was within orb of the Aries Pointfrom late Virgo; Saturn was in Gemini but only square bysign.) Lockheed Corporation, a national defense contractor,was the first recipient of funds. Penn Central Railroaddeclared bankruptcy June 21, 1970 after Nixon and theFed gave them money, but Congress would not approve abailout. Franklin Bank required money in 1974 as did NewYork City in 1975. The 700 billion dollar “Bailout Package”passed by the Congress October 3, 2008, 1:30 pm,Washington, DC, had Pluto at the Aries Point at 28Sagittarius and Saturn applying to square from Virgo bysign only. (Transiting Pluto in October 2008 was square totransiting Pluto in the 1971 Bailout.)

Pluto is considered to rule perspective, empowerment,taxes, big money (plutocracy), transformation and death.With the selective snippets from history we can see thatthe symbolism fits.

Many non-astrological commentators on the economy areanticipating that we are heading into a period very much

like the 1970s with a range-bound market and rampantinflation. By range-bound, the Dow Jones IndustrialAverage reached a plateau around 1,000 from 1968through 1982. Here are a couple of examples:

One of the reasons that Pluto transiting through the cardinalsigns would have related themes is that we are looking atPluto forming a hard aspect to where it was the last timePluto was in a cardinal sign.

Already we have seen huge bailouts of financial institutionsand concerns about the value of the dollar, as well as thecost of debt due to our deficits. Many believe that the onlychoices the government will have will be to print more money,raise taxes, or both. The Federal Reserve has had to stepup as never before to fulfill its role as loan guarantor.

The role of the U.S. Dollar as the main currency of the worldis being questioned by China and others, paralleling theworries about our greenback that led to Nixon closing thegold window on August 15, 1971. We are worried aboutwhether the Federal Reserve has the assets on its balancesheet to cover all of the debt it has guaranteed.

China, a large producer of tea, coincidentally, holds thelargest portion of the U. S. debt. The last Pluto in Capricorncycle would suggest that China will gain a favorable, or evenmonopolistic, trading position in some segments of theeconomy as a repayment from the U. S. government tocontinue holding our debt, and supporting our currency.

Looking at the snapshot of events surrounding previousSaturn-Pluto hard aspects near the Aries Point, it seemsthat there is more “shock” to the system from October 2009– August 2010. Already the unemployment rate has gonehigher than anticipated when the stimulus spending bill waspassed by Congress.

Robert Gover, in Time and Money: The Economy and thePlanets, points out that Great Depressions occur with certaintransits to the USA natal chart, including Saturn in Capricorn,which does not occur until 2018-2020. Will it be like thepanic of 1837 where the aspect between Saturn and Plutowill signify both the beginning and the end of the panic? Ifso, the economy gets very bad between fall, 2009 andsummer, 2010 and stays depressed until the 2018-2020timeframe.

We know that one of the next “shoes to drop” will becommercial real estate, as those loans will reset soon, whichmeans that the loans come up for renewal, which is whendefaults are most likely to occur. Those loans were madeas non-recourse loans with virtually nothing down, and theproperty values were inflated due to the low interest rates.Unlike residential real estate, commercial real estatefinancing has rules regarding the cash flows generatedwhich determine whether or not a buyer may have to infusemore cash into the deal. Even buyers who put cash intothe deal up front are at risk of losing the properties as aresult of the changes to “mark to market” accounting. The


“mark to market accounting” rule would mean that the fairmarket value of the property may be much less than theoriginal purchase price, and so the owner would berequired to make a substantial additional contribution ofcapital to avoid defaulting on the loan.

Warren Buffett says: “Beware of Geeks bearing(mathematical) models” because the derivatives criseswere initiated by risk models that factored in “once in ahundred year events” that actually occurred 3 times ormore in a decade. Models also factored in linear growthin real estate prices. Based on Robert Shiller’s book,Irrational Exuberance, it seems like the 1997 real estateprices are a reasonable support level, going back to thelate 1890s, adjusted for inflation. What we don’t know iswhat assumptions were in the “stress tests” thegovernment regulators administered to the 19 largest U.S.banks. Therefore, we are not aware of what the impact ofa scenario where real estate values find a bottom andstay flat for years, would be.

We believe in the power of positive thought. Currently,Jupiter is conjunct Neptune in Aquarius, the most optimisticpairing of planets we can imagine. Sure, the downside isdisillusionment, but for now let’s focus on the positive. Ifwe get a new technology, likely a green technology thatwe can develop to reduce our dependence on foreign oil,and improve our trade deficit, then more jobs will be createdand the deficit situation will improve.

If we make personal choices to improve our own healthby exercising, eating right and being moderate in ourindulgences, we can save the health care system billionsof dollars in our lifetime.

Hope for the best and plan for the worst, seems to be asentiment that is applicable now. Conquer the Crash byRobert Prechter is a very inexpensive book (that is reallytwo books in one) that suggests some strategies to protectyourself in case the dollar does crash.

This September 2009, Saturn and Uranus once againoppose each other, with a lunation triggering the oppositionon September 18th. Saturn will square the 700 BillionDollar Bailout Pluto/Aries Point beginning mid October2009 and within orb of also squaring transiting Pluto. Plutostations exactly on the Aries Point, September 11, 2009,and is within a 2 degree orb, June 23, 2009 – November25, 2009. We will have the one year anniversary of lastyear’s financial crisis on September 15, 2009, the date ofthe Saturn-Uranus opposition.

Even though some of the bailout money is being repaidby the banks, this week Treasury Secretary, TimothyGeithner, is maintaining that the Treasury needs continuedaccess to the 700 billion dollars in order to retain money

to deal with potential future problems.

One problem we have not mentioned is the unregulatedcredit default swap market which AIG (AmericanInternational Group) was a big player in, and which ourgovernment “failed to notice” and regulate; a credit defaultswap market that reached over 45 trillion dollars in 2007.That is twice the size of the U.S. stock market (at 2007levels), exceeding the 7-12 trillion dollar mortgage market,and the 4.4 trillion dollar U.S. treasuries market (2008). 7

We suspect some of that problem may be that Mr. Geithnerfeels he needs to retain some ammo in order to continue todo battle. These were underfunded insurance policies,which did not get categorized as insurance, so were notregulated accordingly.

The fact that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, with their impliedgovernment guarantees, were huge players in the marketof CDOs is cited in many articles as a big reason why theother big commercial banks also played, and this was alarge portion of the losses leading to their failure. TheCollateralized Debt Obligations leveraged the underlyingmortgages and ‘cloned’ them so that if one mortgage fails,there are about 20 CDOs or so that may lose value as aresult.

Nixon was impeached in the early 1970s, so we are hopingthat there will be some backlash about government officialswho have collected fat paychecks and failed miserably atperforming their job functions. We also hope there are somejuicy scandals where we get insights into some behind thescenes deals that precipitated these outrageous andegregious activities. We are afraid we will get some newsof more bailouts required, which could again create panicin the financial markets. So far the stimulus has failed tokeep unemployment below the targeted 9% level. So, ifthe jobless rate does not improve much, the real estatemarket cannot come back, which will add more stress tothe banks’ balance sheets and keep the tax revenues downfor struggling municipalities as well as the Federalgovernment. The early 1970s had high unemployment,peaking at 9% in May 1975, one year after the last of theSaturn square Pluto transits in early degrees of cardinalsigns in the early 1970s.

It seems that the dollar topic is not going away soon, andmaybe the Federal Reserve will be asked to disclose whatassets we have to support the dollar, such as how muchgold? Could our attempts to “go Green” backfire and theMiddle Eastern countries retaliate by demanding paymentin Euros? Or is the current administration’s aversion todrilling for oil, part of a deal with Saudi Arabia to keep thepeace as we downsize our cars?

There is much more to the big picture than what we havediscussed here. Hopefully, this article will shed light on therepetitive themes that have occurred in the past, and whichare beginning to recur again.7 Time magazine, 3/17/08, Jane Morrisey

After doing extensive research on the FederalReserve both historically and astrologically, I havereached the conclusion that we are soon approachinga point in time when the Federal Reserve system ofbanking could completely collapse or be completelyreformed. The U.S. dollar is also on the verge ofcomplete devaluation as a result of all the trillions ofdollars the Fed is printing “out of thin air.” The historyof fiat currency has always been a grave one. Whencurrency is not backed by something tangible suchas gold or silver, it is ultimately on the road todevaluation. Since the Federal Reserve Act was putin law in 1913, the value of the U.S. dollar has gonedown approximately 96%! Most of this devaluationoccurred after 1971 when former President Nixon tookus off the Gold standard. Thanks Dick!

Here’s another newsflash you may have read aboutbefore. About one hundred years ago, just before theFederal Reserve act of 1913, our nation was the mostprosperous in the world. The U.S. had virtually nonational debt. We had the largest middle class in theworld and Mom stayed home to raise the kids!

What many Americans are still clueless about is thatthere is nothing “Federal” about the Federal Reserveand they have no reserves. They are a privatecorporation owned by private bankers. To illustratehow this monetary system operates. Let‚s assumethe U.S. government needs 10 billion dollars. The FRB(Federal Reserve Bank) prints 10 billion from theirprinting press and loans it to the government inexchange for a 10 billion bond. The government nowowes 10 billion to the FRB, and to add insult to injury,owes interest on top of it. In fact, most of our taxespresently go towards paying only the interest fromthe debt we owe! In my opinion, the Federal Reservesystem of banking is simply a monetary systemdesigned to control and enslave the U.S. governmentand its citizens.

The Federal Reserve Act of 1913 came into law onDec. 23rd, 1913 at 06:02PM, in Washington, DC. Toquote former President Woodrow Wilson, "I am a most

unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. Agreat industrial nation is controlled by its system ofcredit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growthof the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in thehands of a few men. We have come to be one of theworst ruled, one of the most completely controlled anddominated Governments in the civilized world no longera Government by free opinion, no longer a Governmentby conviction and the vote of the majority, but aGovernment by the opinion and duress of a small groupof dominant men." -Woodrow Wilson, after signing theFederal Reserve into existence.

Astrologically, the Sun was at 1 1/2 degrees ofCapricorn forming an opposition to Pluto at 00 degreesof Cancer on Dec. 23, 1913. The other chart I use isfor when the first Federal Reserve Bank in New Yorkopened for business on Nov. 16, 1914 at 10:00AM inNew York. In this chart, Saturn is forming a conjunctionto Pluto at about 1 1/2 degrees of Cancer. In the UnitedStates chart for July 4th, 1776, the planet Venus isalmost exactly at the same degree at 2 degrees ofCancer! Venus represents the money and things ofvalue. The FRB Saturn/Pluto forms a conjunction tothe USA Venus. My astrological interpretation of thisaspect: the FRB was created to devalue the US dollarand bankrupt the United States.

For astrological forecasting purposes, we want to lookfor “shared degrees” of planets in important birth charts.The Sun, Venus, Saturn, and Pluto are from 0 - 2degrees in the cardinal signs of Capricorn and Cancerin all of these charts. Transiting Pluto is already atthese early degrees in the sign of Capricorn since theend of November, 2008. Let the games begin.

Astrologers have been talking about the great “cardinalclimax” happening from 2010 - 2012. It almost soundslike a rated “X” movie! This is when Saturn in Libraforms a T-square configuration with Uranus in Ariesand Pluto in Capricorn lasting until the year 2012. Saturn, Pluto, and USA Venus. When this occurs, itwill be what is called a “cardinal cross” when fourplanets are all 90 degrees from each other in thecardinal signs.

Saturn is the next planet to join the action. Saturncrosses 0 - 2 degrees of Libra in the month ofNovember, 2009. I would expect something ofsignificance in the financial markets and with the U.S.dollar. The dollar will probably be under moredownward pressure. This is also the first pass oftransiting Saturn in Libra square Pluto in Capricorn.

The planet Saturn turns retrograde again in January2010 and will cross 0 - 2 degrees of Libra whileretrograde once more in the month of March, 2010.But what is of most significance is during the summerof 2010 when Uranus first enters the sign of Aries.This occurs beginning the end of May, 2010 through

the middle of August, 2010. Jupiter also enters thesign of Aries conjunct Uranus in the month of June.

On July 21st, 2010, the planet Saturn enters the signof Libra, leaving the sign of Virgo for good for another29 years. Let’s throw a going away party! During themonths of July and August of 2010, the planets Jupiterand Uranus in Aries, Saturn in Libra, and Pluto inCapricorn will all be at the very early degrees of thecardinal signs forming a cardinal cross to the FRB Sun,Saturn, Pluto, and USA Venus! (See quad-wheel). Thisis a once in a lifetime transit that may cause a completecollapse or very serious devaluation of the US dollaras we know it and major crisis within the FederalReserve. In the final analysis, as isdemonstrated, this fascinating new proposal appears tooffer a more accurate perspective from which to predictcurrent events

Geodetic astrology is based on an equal divisionof 30° zones of longitude, where every zone, beginningwith the Aries point in Greenwich, England, and proceedseastward. For example, in the geodetic astrology nowused, most all of Europe is in Aries from 0-degrees to 30°east longitude. The cusp of Taurus at 30° would extend to60° east which would be the same longitude line that runsapproximately off the eastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula.This progression east wraps around the world, making theUnited States a primarily Capricorn nation from roughlyLos Angeles to Chicago.

The beginnings of geodetic astrology with theeastward progression of astrological rulership signsappears to be with the British astrologer and Theosophicalmember, Dr. Walter Gorn Old (1864-1929), more commonlyknown as Sepharial.1 Sepharial authored a book on thesubject entitled, The Theory Of Geodetic Equivalents InRelation To Mundane Astrology. Later the Canadianastrologer, Chris McRae, wrote The World Geodetic Map,referencing Sepharial.2

After reading these books, I decided to see howsome of the national charts for various countries withinthese zones corresponded with their geodetic region byastrological sign. I began with the work of an astrologerknown as Raphael (1850-1923) whose book, The Effectsof The Planets and Signs Upon The Nations and Countriesof The World 3 predated the work by Sepharial and hadlittle correspondence with his views. Raphael’s bookindicated the ruling signs of countries throughout the worldprior to Sepharial’s and the current theory of geodeticequivalents.

I then considered the concept of geodetic astrologyand wondered why the sign placement went eastward. Iexperimented by making a copy of a world map and runningthem westward from Greenwich, England, because thatwas how our Sun appears to move across our rotating

globe. It seemed to me the Sun would energize the worldwith its radiant energy in this direction from Aries throughPisces. I immediately saw how European and (forced)African migrations followed this same zodiacal path of solarenergy. Thus began my hypothesis as I’ll describe.

First, consider Earth’s counterclockwise rotationfrom West to East and counterclockwise orbit as ourmeasurement of time follows the movement of theMidheaven westward across the globe. Though this mayrub some astrologers the wrong way, shouldn’t the signsalso progress westward, the same way as we measure bothclock and calendar time?

Also, why Greenwich as the starting point? Considerthe limestone blocks of the Great Pyramid of Giza, the powerof that structure, and the thousands of years of the line ofPharaohs. Consider the massive limestone coliseum andstructures in Rome and note how Rome was dominant for athousand years. Now, consider the massive limestone cliffsof Dover and how London was the center of world power forcenturies and remains the financial center of the world. Inthis way, one could conceivably “rectify the world” moreaccurately and push the zero point of Aries 1.5 degrees eastfrom Greenwich to Dover, the same longitude as Paris,France, however recalibrating the Earth’s longitudinal mapis too daunting at this phase. I digress.

Sepharial promoted the current system wheregeodetic signs progress eastward.2, 4 Both of thesegentlemen were famous astrologers and I am but a curiousmortal. However, correlations with Raphael’s ruling signs ofcountries and the eastward progression of signs perSepharial, found only one correspondence, what is today’sIraq. On the other hand, a westward geodetic sequence ofsigns found a much stronger correlation with Raphael’s data.That’s what got me started. Understand it was not my goalto validate or vindicate one astrologer over the other, or forthat matter, the encyclopedic work of Nicholas Campion.3, 5

I decided to lay out a map with a westward geodeticsequence, then test it with historical timelines, planetarytransits of those signs and references and see what patternsemerged.

What I’ve found is that the westward geodeticsequence fits remarkably well with history and correspondingcultures. I will mention correlations with Raphael andCampion’s work as they surface as FYI.

Every 30° of longitude west from 0° in London is anastrological cusp on the globe.


Let’s start with a Midheaven cup of tea in Londonand follow the Sun on a journey around the world.

AriesWith a westward progression, the Aries zone

begins in London and covers 30° to the west. Raphaelindicates England is an Aries nation.6 Campion has Eire(Ireland), Scotland and several of England’s historic chartswith an Aries sun.7 In this zone, England, Spain andPortugal were the three preeminent world powers with vastcolonies from the late 15th century until the early 20thcentury 4, 8 Note the area of France in Aries is the part ofFrance that has always been what’s been consideredFrance in modern centuries.

Arian England, Spain and Portugal have had themost consistent borders in modern history compared tothe rest of Europe with fluid Piscean borders. I invite youto sample maps of continental Europe over the past 500years and see how these three countries are the notableexception to national borders that have shifted to and frolike beach sand from every wave of change.

England in Aries is trine Sagittarius and China andits last colony there, Hong Kong, departing their rule in1997.5, 9 Spain lost its last colony, the Philippines in1898,6, 9-a with the capital Manila on the geodetic cusp ofSagittarius. The other Spanish colony, Cuba is in Gemini,sextile Aries.

Volcanic Iceland is also in Aries, occupied byVikings who had colonized west 500 years before England,Spain and Portugal in the Americas.7, 10

TaurusTaurus rules Greenland and Newfoundland in

Canada where the Vikings landed 500 years beforeColumbus. This area is distinct from the rest of Canada.The Vikings interestingly limited themselves to the zone ofTaurus and didn’t move into the Gemini zone, unlike theother three Arian nations—perhaps because Norway, theircountry of origin is in Pisces, one sign behind Aries, ormaybe it’s the sextile that is required for opportunity?

Brazil was discovered by the Portuguese with theSun in Taurus.8, 11 This former Portuguese colony andUruguay in this earth sign are among the most stable geo-politically and economically of all South American countries.Uruguay is considered the Switzerland of SouthAmerica.9, 12 Brazil has a cornucopia of natural resourcesand manufactures their own aircraft and militaryequipment10, 13 Brazil also creates the majority of their fuelgrown from sugarcane and made into ethanol. Further,Brazil is world famous for their beautiful Venusian women,often the top pick for Miss Universe, and “The Girl fromIpanema” is a famous song of unrequited love.

Consider how these powerful earth-signlandmasses are so vital to the Earth. The Greenland icesheet and Amazon River Basin and rainforest control theworld’s critical ocean currents, climate, atmospheres andweather systems. The continental shape of South America

in Taurus funnels hurricanes spawned in Arian Africa intoneighboring Gemini & Cancer.11, 14

Campion indicates Paraguay has a Taurus Sun signand 80% of that country, including the capital Asuncion is inthe Taurus zone.15

GeminiGemini falls on the East Coast of the US—East of

the Mississippi—also a political and social separator forEastern and Western Canada. Raphael stated the US isruled by Gemini;16 the Geminian Eastern US is the original13 colonies and where the US Capital is located. The TwinTowers of The World Trade Center were a remarkablesymbol of Gemini. Consider how the United States operatesas a two party republic.

Though the concept included CERN,11a, 17 the WorldWide Web was first built in the US and overseen by theDepartment of Defense in Washington D.C. Virtually allcommunications on the planet and satellites are monitoredby the US.12, 18

The Geminian US divided Panama into two sectionsby excavating the Panama Canal Zone; it is forever now aphysically two-bodied nation. This also happened with Koreaand Vietnam. Western South America is different from Braziland Uruguay in that it is in Taurus. Those Geminian countries,Chile, Columbia and Venezuela in particular, are plaguedby a continually shifting political bi-polarity between fascismand socialism. Campion indicates Argentina’s Revolutionchart as well as a bisected Guyana have Sun in Gemini.19

CancerThe zone of Cancer (Heartland of the US) runs from

the Mississippi River to Los Angeles. Cancer is associatedwith the US in the 1776 birth chart, as the sign of the Sun,Mercury, Venus and Jupiter, perhaps an indicator of ManifestDestiny. Piscean France sold the Louisiana Purchase inthis zone to the US in 1803 when Pluto was in Pisces. NativeAmericans roamed this oceanic prairie and lived off themigrating herds of buffalo, not unlike schools of fish.

The Cancer Heartland relates to the Moon and isthe emotional and physical center of the US. It’s the caringbreadbasket that feeds the world, and the part of Americawith the greatest emotional attachment to American ideals.

This region holds the Ogallala underground waterbasin that nourishes the great breadbasket of thePlains.13, 20 Fields of wheat as amber waves of grainundulate like the ocean. It’s the home of the largest riverbasins, the Mississippi, Missouri and Colorado Rivers andthe great American deserts here were once the bottom ofancient lakebeds from Montana, down into Utah andNevada, including Death Valley. Hoover Dam, arguably themost world famous dam , provides power and controls waterfor tens of millions.

The Cancer-Gemini cusp falls along the YucatanPeninsula where the Mayan Empire once existed. Mexicois a family-oriented Cancerian nation.14, 21 Campion indicatesthe US, Canada and Sandinista-Nicaragua, as well as “The


United Provinces of Central America chart also has aCancer sun have Suns in Cancer. 22

LeoLeo’s cusp falls within California, the capital of

movies and television entertainment and the most Leonianplace on Earth. The West Coast is a theater stage wherethe beautiful people of the world come to seek attentionand fame. The people of the West Coast are typicallyLeonian in nature, a perpetual Me generation distinctlydifferent from the Cancerian zone and places like Kansasor even Florida. California, northwest Nevada, the Yukonand Alaska in Leo are where gold was found andmined.15, 23 The gold mine of Las Vegas is only a fewdegrees east of the Leo cusp.

VirgoThe Virgo cusp falls east of Anchorage and up to

Prudhoe Bay, paralleling the Alaskan pipeline. Myexperience in Alaska reinforces the view of a Spartanenvironment, with serious, no-nonsense service-orientedpeople, and how the opposition sign Pisces exemplifiesthe drug and alcohol problems there. The Virgo zone ofAlaska is where the oil (Pisces) is found that challengesthe environment and politics of Alaska, and why everyAlaskan receives an annual oil revenue payment.16, 24

The Virgo zone is not only the zodiacal sign forthe state of Alaska in the United States, but one that isshared with Russia’s eastern tip of Siberia. To me, it’sboth subtle and appropriate how the charts for both the fallof the Soviet Union and the end of Communism, perCampion, have Virgo suns. 25

LibraNew Zealand, eastern Australia, eastern Siberia

and the South Pacific islands fall in the zone of Libra. Thereal Mutiny on The Bounty happened here, inspired byinjustices, where Captain Bligh (English—Aries, theopposite sign) made his determined trip in the ship’s launch,traveling 3,618 nautical miles in 47 days. Tahiti is east ofhere, appropriately in the zone of Leo as is Pitcairn Island,both trine Aries, appealing to the misfortune of themutineers who rebelled against Bligh’s tyranny.17, 26

England sent their criminals to Australia (Libra: scales ofjustice) the opposite sign to England (Aries). Canberra,the capital of Australia is in the zone of Libra on the eastcoast.18, 27

Libra also falls across eastern Siberia, trineMoscow in Aquarius. The Russian city of Magadan on theSea of Okhotsk is less than 1° from the cusp of Libra-Scorpio and its history seemed imbued with the darkestside of each sign. Magadan was the Siberian headquartersfor the Soviet NKVD. The NKVD or People's Commissariatfor Internal Affairs was the leading secret policeorganization of the Soviet Union that was responsible forpolitical repression during the Stalinist era. It conductedmass extrajudicial executions, ran the Gulag system of

forced labor, suppressed underground resistance, conductedmass deportations of nationalities and "Kulaks" tounpopulated regions of the country, guarded state borders,conducted espionage and political assassinations abroad,was responsible for subversion of foreign governments, andenforced Stalinist policy within Communist movements inother countries.18a, 28 Madagan was also the administrativeand processing center for prisoners of war. Millions of politicalprisoners were held in the infamous gulags (Stalin-styleLibrian justice), as described in the writings of AlexanderSolzhenitsyn. Magadan in many ways, was comparable toAuschwitz or Treblinka, and remained a Soviet closed cityuntil the late 1980’s.19, 29

The Kuril Islands northeast of Hokkaido, Japanremain to this day in dispute with Russia since the Sovietsclaimed them in 1945. The Kurils lay just west of the Libra-Scorpio cusp.20 30 Looking at the map, astrologically andhistorically, they appear to belong to Japan.

Regarding other countries in the Libra sector,Campion’s book shows New Zealand, Fiji, Tuvalu andRussia’s Unification charts have Sun in Libra. 31

ScorpioConsider the cultural attitude of the Japanese

toward sex and bondage, the Ninja and Samurai culture,Bushido martial arts, the rape of Nanking and the Bataandeath march. Consider the Japanese during World War IIwith their all or nothing suicidal fight to the death and therefusal to surrender that justified to President Truman (fromCancerian Missouri) the first atomic bombs (regardless ofwhich planet you believe rules Scorpio, how Plutonian orMartian can you get?). Consider the transformation of theirMars from military to economic matters, and their presentday Scorpionic, self-sacrificing salary men. Consider theatomic Plutonian transformation of their society.21, 32

The Koreas have the same Scorpionic nature in warand society, especially North Korea. South Korea, like Japan,has transformed from a military emphasis into a power offinance and innovation. Interestingly, the part of China knownas Manchuria was once a province of Japan,22, 33 includingthe war-ravaged coastal cities of Shanghai, Nanking andTaiwan.

Dalian, closer to North Korea than Beijing is wherethe Chinese Dalian Commodity Exchange is located. Thisis the Scorpionic equivalent of the world famous ChicagoBoard of Trade and Chicago Mercantile Exchange inChicago (Cancer).23, 34

Many Japanese resonate with the Americancowboy, a Cancer trine to their Scorpionic samurai—oncewarriors—traveling and gambling, working as hired guns(swords). In my own experiences growing up in SouthernCalifornia and traveling the Southwest, a common sight werethe busloads of Japanese tourists taking photos of whatseemed as empty desert. Western wear specialty storesare a common stop for Japanese tourists in Los Angeles,Phoenix, Las Vegas and Texas.

Taiwan is in the sector of Scorpio and perhaps why


it resists becoming part of China—and perhaps why theJapanese occupied that island for so long. I was in Taiwanin 1976 and found the people then to highly regardAmericans.

My former wife’s family and strangers who stoppedme in the street often asked about John Wayne, cowboys,the American military and why America held back inVietnam. One night at dinner, an unknown couple pickedup my dinner tab, discovered only after they’d left. I neverknew their names or saw them again. What I describe nextmay explain why.

While in Taipei I saw the movie, Midway (in Englishwith Chinese and Japanese subtitles). When in the movie,the Americans finally turned the tide and bombed theJapanese carriers, the audience leapt to their feet, shoutingand applauding—my wife and I were the only ones sitting.People on all sides, suddenly patted my back. Onegentleman smiled as he gripped my shoulder and said intangled English, “Good! Good!” It hit me at that momenthow I was receiving the gratitude of people liberated byAmericans 10 years before I was born, a completely andutterly humbling experience. That moment was the mosttouching experience I’ve had as an American.

On last point for Scorpio; Campion shows thatthree of Russia’s historic charts have Sun in Scorpio. 35

SagittariusSagittarius fits China and their opulent dynasties,

the pinnacle of bureaucracies, Jupiterian wealth and foreigntrade from the times of Marco Polo. This fire sign regionoriginated the first fireworks, rockets and gunpowder.24, 36

The US (Gemini) and China (Sagittarius) are oppositesand have become the two largest world economies andlong-term opponents. Another significant Sagittarian nationis Singapore.

The Galactic Center is currently placed at 26.85°Sagittarius. In the westward geodetic sequence, thislongitude is exactly 2° east of Lhasa, Tibet at 28.85°Sagittarius. If you follow the geodetic line for the GalacticCenter south from Tibet to 3.3° north of the Equator, theposition will be 2° east of the precise epicenter of the greatquake in Indonesia on December 26, 2004 at 07:58:53AM local time.25, 37 Note an event chart for that earthquakeat that precise place and time (per above US GeologicalSurvey data) finds the Pluto/Sun midpoint at 28.5°Sagittarius—in the 12th house.

Vietnam in Sagittarius is in opposition to Geminiand became the place of undoing of American policy.Thailand, the only country in Asia never colonized by theWest, had its own bureaucracy and series of mostlybenevolent emperors in their own monarchy.26, 38

The Western Australian coast is in this Sagittarianzone. The longitude lines fit extremely well for Australiawhere the population centers are on each coast, leavingthe central desert for the sector in Scorpio (perfect forscorpions!), the Outback.27, 39

Per Campion, Russia has three historic charts with

a Sagittarius sun. Russia’s recent C.I.S. (Commonwealthof Independent States) chart has a 29-degree SagittariusSun.40

CapricornRaphael said India, the Punjab and Afghanistan are

ruled by Capricorn.41 On the map, Central Russia,Kazakhstan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, India, half ofTibet, Pakistan and the eastern border of Iran are also withinCapricorn’s geodetic sector.

The area east of the Urals in this zone is where theSoviets kept their space program and top-secret, missileprograms in Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.28, 42 Non-HanChinese western China is under Capricorn. The cusp fitswell with cultures in that area, particularly Tibet and the Non-Han, Islamic groups and Uigars.

According to Campion, two historic Russian charts,Turkmenia (formerly of the USSR) and the British Indian-Empire chart of 1877 have Sun in Capricorn.29, 43

AquariusThe Aquarian sector includes western Russian &

Moscow (where socialism first took root), Iran, the countriesof the Saudi Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, Syria, most of Turkey,half of the Ukraine, and the eastern third of Africa. The cuspof Aquarius-Pisces, just east of Alexandria, Egypt definesthe Nile and Horn of Africa as Arab or Islamic.30, 44

Aquarius rules the Middle East, Jerusalem and theheart of Islam. Consider how Aquarius de-emphasizes theindividual and fits the group submission aspect of Islam.31, 45

Aquarius is an air sign, and mosques and Hebrewtemples emphasize geometric, non-human forms. Theregion is disconnected from watery emotions (fiery emotionscoming from opposite sign Leo) or earthly fecundity likeBrazil; it’s a mostly sterile landscape. The bearers of spiritualwaters in the desert was Moses to Judaism and Mohammedto Islam for their individual, submitting masses. Notice howthe Jewish people, who migrated into Europe (Pisces)became a people dissolved without a nation or borders andfrom the Piscean Europeans, suffered delusionalaccusations and prejudice. Until recently, several differentpopulations of Jewish sects who’d remained in the Aquarianzone, particularly those in Persia—and since the time ofCyrus the Great— had lived in relatively tranquility.32, 46

Whether you ascribe to Saturn or Uranus rulingAquarius, these planets fit the attitudes of an unfortunatenumber in this region. Consider people intent on control whileliterally exploding themselves with the suddenness of Uranusand the fiery anger of opposite Leo, coupled with Saturn’srigid, anti-Moon (hiding of women). Aquarius trine Libra andthe ideal of hiding of women is far difference from earthyVenus in Taurus (Brazil), or its opposite of showy Leo(California).

Libra is both steel and a scale. Airy, idealized andrigid, the fanatical side of Islam gives people they consideras infidels a chance to convert (scales of justice) beforeusing their sword (steel) which is highly stylized on the


national flag of Saudi Arabia.Aquarius is trine Gemini with a duality relationship

to the US. The Geminian US needs oil and provided themeans (oil companies) to yield great wealth. Yet AquarianArabia scorns Gemini’s exalting freedom of thought andspeech, individuality, two party system and societal,Mercurial ideas so alien to theirs.

The opposite sign of Aquarius, Leo, is where Al-Queda is drawn onto the world stage using Uranus asshock-value to draw attention to their cause—yet LeonianHollywood offends them the most. They want to rule with acollective Aquarian worldwide caliphate, not a Leonian king.The nature of Leo opposes the cool, airy collective Aquarianreserve in how the majorities of Arabs live and do business.Al-Queda takes refuge in Afghanistan and Pakistan ofCapricorn, their Saturnian attitude more attuned to thisarea, yet they express their shock and suddenness in theirAquarius zone of Iraq and Palestine, and the air sign,Gemini (Feb. 26, 1993 and Sept. 11, 2001—attacks onthe World Trade Center in NY).

Two attacks since September 11, 2001 were inthe sector of Aries (Madrid and London) sextile Aquarius.

Raphael said Aquarius rules Arabia, Abyssinia(Horn of Africa) and Russia.47 Russia was historically likethe Middle East with a state religion, Orthodoxy. After 1918,the state religion that replaced it was Communism, withLenin deified in a glass case and visited by newlyweds asthey would Niagara Falls in the US. The Russians havethe Saturnian need for control with Uranus’ suddenrevolutions and the shock of the first satellite, Sputnik.

Russia and the United States have an interestingdynamic. Aquarius is trine Libra which falls over EasternSiberia; both are trine Gemini. The zone of Russia inCapricorn is trine US Virgo, and the eastern tip of Siberiashares Virgo with Alaska and Hawaii. Sagittarius overSiberia is trine US Leo and Scorpio Russia trines USCancer.

The irony is how both countries are so differentyet have so much common. Both countries dominate spaceand are nuclear equals. Both have extensive naturalresources and share the Arctic. Both are now both heavilycapitalist, but with significant socialist governmentcomponents. Both countries consist of zones in all fourelements. Perhaps the Russians will activate differentlywhen China needs more room for its billions of people andlooks north toward Siberian oil.

Countries in the Aquarius sector with a Sun inAquarius, include Ukraine, The Arab Federation, The UnitedArab Republic, Khomeni-Iran and Rwanda.48

PiscesThe cusp of Pisces separates Finland and Eastern

Europe from Russia. It separates the Dardanelles in Turkeyfrom Asia. Istanbul (Constantinople in the Holy RomanEmpire) is in Piscean Europe and has always been thebridge between Europe and Asia. Turkey, more than Egypt,is the unique Islamic country that straddles both worlds.

Piscean Greece historically ruled this Piscean western lobeof Turkey from the time of Alexander until the OttomanEmpire. The cusp divides Sudan with the Aquarian MuslimArabs on one side and Piscean, borderless Christian blackson the other (Darfur).33, 49

Christianity took root in Piscean Rome and Jesuswas likely conceived in Egypt along the Piscean cusp; inPisces, a Trinity is worshipped, whereas in Aquarian Egypt,Aten was the first monotheistic deity.34, 50 Aquarian Islamand Judaism are more similar in pure monotheism andlimited expression of religious art, because pictures andstatues are forbidden. In contrast, art and statues are worldrenown in The Vatican, the center of Catholicism in thePiscean zone. Pisces is from where the fisher of men andthe watery flux of Christianity evolved and diversified overtime, and is exalted in zones of another water sign, Cancer,in the Heartland US and Central America.

Over millennia, Piscean Europe has had boundaryissues, and currently is attempting unification into a singlepool, the European Union. But England is mostly in Ariesand not part of the EU, nor is Ireland. Again, England, Spainand Portugal have had the most consistent borders in 500years of European history. Perhaps the eastern section ofSpain within Pisces was enough for Spain to join the EU.Piscean Europe, trine US Cancer and Scorpionic Japan wereall participants in WWII. Oil is found in this zone of Europe,Norway’s coast and the North Sea. Where the cusp withAries begins is where the oil ends.

Piscean Africa has liquid borders, delusionaldictators and turmoil. AIDS and Ebola originated in this 12thhouse zone. In places like Nigeria, an OPEC nation, oil isfound in Africa. Consider how Africans from this place ofconfinement were sold into slavery by other African tribesand Arabs mostly to one of its geodetic squares, theAmerican Southeast (Gemini). Compare Morocco in theArian western lobe of Africa with its long-lived monarchyand lack of oil, which is a more stable area, but has fewcommodities compared to the zone in Pisces.

Regarding the transatlantic slave trade, thoughslaves were transported primarily through the Aquarius,Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini and Cancer zones, the portsof origin for the slave trade interestingly were exclusively inthe Pisces zone. These ports of origin include Benguela inpresent day Angola,51 Cabinda in present day Congo52 andCalabar in Nigeria.53 Another, the country of Ghana, is splitin half by the Pisces/Aries cusp has its capital, Accra, literallyupon that line. However Ghana’s port at the mouth of theTogo River is east of the Pisces/Aries cusp.54 The period ofslave trade from Africa was from 1597-1866.55 The nationalflags of these ships included Portugal, Brazil, Spain, France,USA, Uruguay, Netherlands, Hamburg (Germany),Argentina, Sweden, Russia, Denmark and England.56

The Book of World Horoscopes shows a Sun inPisces for seven early Russia charts.57 The western tip ofRussia is in Pisces Europe and these earlier Russian chartsreflect a desire to be a part of Pisces Europe, as exemplifiedby Peter The Great and his transformation of Russia which


included his mandate for Russians to adopt Western attireand his requirement that they shave their beards.58 Warswith Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Prussia, Ukraine,Belarus along this Pisces/Aquarius cusp had limitedsuccess and are notable in this regard.59 Russia as theUSSR did accomplish a post-WW2 annexation of easternPisces Europe but it only lasted from 1945 until 1990.60

Lithuania, Carpatho-Ukraine, two charts forCzechoslovakia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ghana, Yugoslavia,Slovakia, Italy-Kingdom, Egypt-Kingdom & Independence,France 2nd Republic.61

Raphael states the Sahara Desert, Galicia (nearPoland) and Nubia (Sudan) is ruled by Pisces.62

What of Antarctica? The Antarctic continent(excluding islands claimed by Argentina or the UK) is theonly landmass where all geodetic signs meet (at the SouthPole). This is also the only landmass where by worldwideagreement and treaty, no one nation has exclusivedominion.63 Even though in history, nations such as Norway(in the sector of Pisces at the north of the globe) claimedthe Piscean sector of Antarctica, there are German, SouthAfrican, Russian, Indian and Japanese base camps in thissector. The divided polar pie historically has no actualsovereignty despite slices (several of them overlapping)claimed in the past by Norway, France, Argentina, GreatBritain, Chile, Australia and New Zealand. Interestingly, thesections of Cancer and Leo were never claimed.

The US Amundsen-Scott Station sits right on theSouth Pole, but denies no one access. McMurdo Stationis within the New Zealand claim (yet I doubt there will be aproblem with an imperialist New Zealand, only a stone’sthrow away at Scott Station).35, 64

A Geodetic Snapshot ofTransiting Pluto & World Events

The transit of Pluto through the westwardprogression of geodetic signs provides a revealing pattern;a peak and an inevitable decline and decay once it hasleft. In my mind’s eye, Pluto’s transit over a geodetic regionlifts that region high and transforms it; then when departing,whatever excesses were wrought by that transformation,carry a heavy cost and begins to decay. Correspondingly,the geodetic region opposite Pluto is pulled into the Earthas though into a hell of sorts. About 220-230 years later, ithappens again. I encourage those interested in thegeodetic ideas to test the planetary transits of these signsin sequence and their effects in the world. Below is a shortsummary, referencing several concurring general historictimelines, of what I’ve analyzed with Pluto thus far.

Pluto was in Aquarius when Islam was at its firstpeak from 795 until 817. Pluto in Aquarius from 1286 to1307 coincides with the second peak of Islam, and afterPluto moved into Pisces in 1307, the capital of the OttomanEmpire capital was moved to Constantinople (1326) in thePisces zone and continued its rise. Rome was at its peakwhen Pluto transited Pisces from 328 AD until 387. Romefell and disintegrated only 90 years later. Pluto was also in

Pisces four cycles earlier at Rome’s inception with Romulusand Remus. Portugal became independent of Spain in 1385after Pluto had transited out of Aries in 1362, weakeningSpain to the east.

Pluto was in Aries from 1822 until 1851. Englandwas at full stride as an empire where the Sun never set, andwas where the Industrial Revolution began. During this time,the British pound as a currency never knew inflation ordevaluation and was the world currency of choice based ongold. Pluto was in Gemini through Leo from 1882 – 1956,when the United States recovered from the Civil War,defeated the Spanish in 1898 and began to fill the powervacuum from collapsing colonial European powers.

The US won WWI, flourished in the 1920’s,weakened in the 1930’s when Pluto left Cancer and most ofthe US mainland except the West Coast (Leo) by 1937. TheU.S. was dragged into WWII and with Pluto in the fire sign,Leo, developed nuclear weapons in New Mexico (Cancer)and dropped them on Japan (Scorpio) instead of defeatedPiscean Germany. The US then rebuilt both ScorpionicJapan and Piscean Europe and became a superpower.

Pluto moved out of the US sphere into Virgo onAugust 19, 1956 and was trine the Capricorn region of theSoviet Union. The United States began its darkest days ofthe Cold War, Khruschev threatening “We will bury you.” 65

and Sputnik was launched by the Soviets on October 5,1957.66 By then, communism had spread to all continentsand hemispheres.

After a three-year loss of the Plutonian benefic, in1959 Alaska and Hawaii became the 49th and 50th states—both states in the zone, Virgo—that extended the assistanceof Pluto and infused the US until mid-1972. In 1972 the USastronauts on the Moon planted the American flag, an actfitting of the American apex. By 1972 when Pluto enteredLibra, the scales shifted and the U.S. hit peak oil. America’sstatus as the world’s largest oil producer dramaticallyvanished, confirmed by the Arab Oil Embargo in 1973. By1973 the Paris Peace Accord dealing with Viet Nam wascompleted and all US troops had left, except the onesguarding the embassy in Saigon. By December of 1974,the US dollar was taken off the gold standard. By 1975,military aid to South Vietnam was abandoned by the USCongress and its bifurcated status was soon gone as well.

The zone of Libra is unique as it covers only theeastern part of Siberia, the Australian east coast, NewZealand and some Pacific islands; however, that did notdiminish the effect of Pluto on world events. From mid-1972through 1984, the Soviet Union and its prison gulags (Libratrine Moscow in Aquarius) reached their zenith. America wasat its weakest, exemplified by an oil crisis; stagflation; asmaller, weaker, military; three weakened presidents andthe Iranian hostage crisis. Western Europe (Pisces), withthe exception of Margaret Thatcher in the UK (Aries) wascaught up in a pacifistic fervor. The Soviets invadedAfghanistan in 1979 under the auspices of stabilizing theirpuppet regime, but with the ultimate goal to take Iran andgain a warm water port, and then control the world’s oil and


dominate the West. The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in1979 was only symbolically opposed by a weak PresidentCarter (boycotting the Moscow Olympics) due to the Iranianhostage crisis.

By 1981 the Soviets were faced with the implacableRonald Reagan. Pluto within Libra’s scales tilted towardthe trine in Gemini favoring Reagan and against Moscowin Aquarius, and the part of the Soviet Union, to includeAfghanistan, square to Libra in Capricorn. The Saudi’s(Aquarius) in fear of a Persian Gulf takeover by Soviettroops, footed the bill for an army of US-armed Mujahideenfighters in Afghanistan. The Saudi’s increased productionof their inexpensive oil, drove down the world price untilthe Soviets could no longer profit from their more expensiveSiberian (zones of Libra and Capricorn) oil. With Reagan’sStrategic Defense Initiative (Star Wars) challenge and anexpensive empire to support, the Soviet’s unworkableeconomic system lost hold.

Pluto in Scorpio from 1983 through 1994 was alsoon Soviet territory, (trine US Cancer, home of nearly all USunderground missile silos) and became a time oftransformation for the Soviet Union. The IMF treaty signedby Reagan and Gorbachev removed the missiles fromPiscean Europe (a trine) and ended the Soviet designs onEurope.

The Soviets gave up Afghanistan in 1989, theirmilitary demoralized and in collapse. By 1991 the Sovietsatellite republics in the zone of Capricorn in sextile,gathered strength as did the Piscean area in EasternEurope, trine to Scorpio (trine also to the U.S. in Cancer)to dissolve the Eastern Block and the Iron Curtain. Thissquare from Pluto in Scorpio to ruling Moscow in Aquariuscreated a Scorpionic all-or-nothing challenge forindependence.

Pluto in Scorpio was the height of the Japaneseeconomy, and later, while nearing the cusp with Sagittarius,the Taiwanese economy.

North Korea in the Scorpio zone was its strongestin 1991 when the US removed its nuclear weapons fromSouth Korea; and in 1994, when missile technology wasacquired from China and nuclear power plants from theUS, the basis for their first nuclear weapon.

In the Scorpio zone over the center of Australia,Pluto brought the movie Mad Max 2 – The Road Warrior inthe year 1982, story located and filmed in the Outback ofAustralia. This Plutonian movie featured the breakdown ofcivilization. By 1983 the Australian actor, Mel Gibson,became an international star. The year 1986 broughtCrocodile Dundee about an Australian from the Outback(Scorpio), followed by Young Einstein in 1988 about theson of a Tasmanian (Scorpio) apple farmer who “discoversthe secret of splitting the beer atom to put the bubblesback into beer.” 35a, 67 Note the Plutonian-Scorpionicreference to splitting the beer atom and the atomic bombswhich fell on Japan (in the zone of Scorpio) four decadesbefore. The Outback Steakhouse chain was founded in1988 during Pluto in Scorpio, with menu items named afterplaces in Australia, falling in the sector of Scorpio, such as

Ayers Rock Strip Steak and Alice Springs Chicken. Australiaenjoyed a great deal of popularity and immigration, fadingafter 1995 when Pluto moved on.

Pluto entered Sagittarius in January of 1995 andsaid, “G’day” to the western third of Australia with a last bitof glory with the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. More so, Plutosaid, “Ni hao” (hello) to Sagittarius China. The growth ofthe Chinese economy exploded with a record 11.4% growthin 1994.68 This expansion has continued to where even theChinese are alarmed and contemplate what they call an“overheated economy,” barely affected by the SARSepidemic. With Pluto’s departure from Sagittarius they aredealing with pollution, record outstanding bank loans,oversupplied industry and an impending shortage of oil andcoal.69 In 2006 their economy hit a 12-year high since1994.70 I found in my research of China an overwhelmingamount of information worthy of an article alone on thistransit, but for the sake of this article I’ll have to let theremaining present and future speak for itself.

I find it interesting that while Pluto was out ofSagittarius in Capricorn during the period of January throughJune of 2008, China was hit with the Sichuan (near thegeodetic boundary with Capricorn) earthquake on May 12thwhich was not “just another earthquake in China” that lefthundreds of thousands injured and dead.71 This earthquakehas also damaged 391dams (Plutonian water) with thisabsence of Pluto – including their nuclear power plants (doI really need to explain this one?) in this fire sign ofSagittarius.72

Jupiter concurrent in Sagittarius with Pluto wouldhave the Chinese at their peak. Yes, Pluto left Sagittarius inJanuary of 2008 but returns in June in time for their Olympicsin August – no doubt Pluto’s “Zai Jian” (goodbye) presentbefore it left Sagittarius for the last time in November of2008 when the boom in China will soon began to slow, as itwill also in Taiwan. Pluto will make sure the 2008 Olympicswill mark China’s economic and political peak and starmoment on the world stage.

One interesting event is as Pluto arrived at theGalactic Center (in Tibet, 2° east of the capital Lhasa) theDalai Lama announced he will appoint a successor in a breakwith tradition, after China had ordered the approval ofspiritual leaders.

The FutureWith Pluto gone from Sagittarius for the final time in

November 2008, after the Olympics have come and gone, Ithink it may be inevitable that China will distract theirpopulation from economic problems by making use orfabricating difficulties in foreign relations. They might welluse their thousands of missiles built across the straits fromTaiwan and make an unsuccessful attempt to take this islandcountry at the right moment. Since China always tests newAmerican presidents as most recently with G.W. Bush byforce-landing a spy plane on Hainan Island in his first months,this event will likely be in 2009.

With Pluto out of China’s sphere, one can surmise


that China’s waiting for the 2008 Olympics may have savedTaiwan. Taiwan could become the Chinese Vietnam ashappened to the US when Pluto left geodetic Virgo in 1972.Without the help of Pluto, the best President Nixon couldmanage was the Paris Peace Accords and a pullout of UStroops. South Vietnam collapsed in 1975 when Democratsceased military aid during the Watergate scandal.

Uranus in Pisces is already revolutionizing EasternEurope as it had with Russia in Aquarius. It should beinteresting for the US when Uranus arrives over Geminiand Cancer again in 2026 as it had in 1776, during the USCivil War (1859-1865) and World War II (1941-1948).Saturn joins Uranus in 2030 as it had in 1942, so unlike1776 or 1865, this could mean bailing out Europe againperhaps from Russia as General Patton predicted in 1945—or, perhaps the Russians will need help this time from theChinese?

Neptune now dissolves the democracy in AquarianRussia and deludes Vladimir Putin. The Neptunian fog bankin the Middle East and Iran will slowly shift into Europeand central Africa from 2012 until 2026 possibly dissipatingefforts for a unified Europe.

Jupiter in Capricorn with Pluto could revolutionizeIndia. Consider they’ve recently flown their national flagto the Moon, and their navy has already taken down Somalipirate ships. They may not experience an economicwindfall right away, but Pluto will be in Capricorn longenough to make this possible. As part of Iran is in theCapricorn zone, perhaps Iran may see a fortunate changeof government, at least by 2023 to pursue a direction ofprosperity. As has happened since the Industrial Revolution,Pluto will bring its modern-day price in the form of pollution,

an eventual recession or depression, and all the other pitfallsof a country having spent its best effort.

With Tibet located in Capricorn one can expectChina to lose more control over this region with a furtherascendancy of the Dalai Lama after his passing.

Jupiter entered Aquarius in January of 2009 as didMars in February, so I hope for that to manifest as a militaryresolution if not a change of government in the Middle East.

Pluto enters Aquarius in 2023 which is when theMiddle East will have its scheduled peak and the oil depositswill begin to run dry. With oil production declining, worlddemand growing, particularly from India and China, andtechnology lagging, the Middle East oil producers willdemand and receive the highest possible prices in 2023before the world changes technologies and oil revenuedrops. It’s even possible carbon emissions may drop morefor economic reasons than anyone’s intent or legislation.The Middle East shall fade after 2043 when Pluto leaves forPisces, most probably from alternate sources of power bythat time.

Europe will have renaissance or another FrenchRevolution with Pluto in Pisces in 2043. It may be a variantof when Europe nearly fell to Islam. The demographic wavefrom the Middle East into the forever-liquid borders ofPiscean Europe is significant, given this trend and inevitablecross-pollination. Interesting cultural and religioustransformations in Piscean Europe will probably be similarto Turkey and Libya—a secular form of Islam.

In 2066—a thousand years after the constructionof the Tower of London in 1066—Pluto will enter Aries againover England, to have its day again in the Plutonian Sun.
