WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF BACEE
Dr. Sándor Patyi
Chairman of BACEE
Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy CEO, OTP Banka Slovensko
Dear Colleagues,
Let me welcome you in the name of the Banking Association of Central and Eastern Europe (BACEE), co-organizer of the 3rd
International Conference on E-money, Cards and Payments.
BACEE’s mission is to encourage and promote transfer of banking know-how and best professional solutions from the financial
sector of developed economies to banks in Central and Eastern Europe and the CIS countries.
Digital banking, cards and payments are the core business of banks, generating a substantial part of our income. Recently, our
franchise has been challenged by many new-comers, fintech companies and non-bank financial institutions. There is no chance to
stay away from the development of the markets - competition is a must for all of us and taking part in it is in the best interest of
the banks.
In order to successfully compete with the new challengers, first of all, we should have a clear picture of the nature, types,
strengths and weaknesses of the competitors. I trust that our conference will enrich all participants’ knowledge in this area.
Another major issue for our banks is the quickly changing regulatory environment - it is essential to comply with all new
requirements in an efficient and robust way. The conference will provide a detailed update on changes in the regulations, the new
requirements and how to meet them.
I hope that the conference will help to reach our final common goal – providing better, cheaper and more efficient service to our
clients which is the only way to become winners in today’s increasingly competitive environment.
I am sure that besides obtaining a lot of useful information, a major part of the event will be networking – meeting with your
peers. At the end of Day 1 we invite you to a cocktail party to have a talk in a cozy environment with the conference speakers and
the participants.
Finally, in the name of the organizers and our sponsors - Visiona, Tieto, Swift, Gradient - and conference partners I wish you a nice
conference and a pleasant stay in Bratislava!
