• Submission, delivery, and notification of MM messages• Delivery report and read-reply report• Forwarding of MM message• Terminal capability negotiation (UAProf)• Media format and media type conversion • Value-added services interface (VAS) in MMS (MM7) • Presentation of MM using (e.g.) SMIL• Streaming of MM messages • Prepaid support• Network-based persistent storage of MM messages (MMBox)


SMIL for MM Presentations (SMIL 2.0)

• SMIL stands for Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (pronounced “smile”)

• Supported by the MMS standard• A SMIL “presentation” can be a mix of audio, video, images

and text in any combination• Allows you to change layout (e.g., landscape, portrait), set

timing of the objects and format the text
