    4 General Description

The NGLT-C is a GPON line termination board. This board can be installed in a 7302 ISAM FD subrack, a 7330 ISAM FTTN FD subrack or a 7360 ISAM FX subrack.

The NGLT-C meets ETSI and ANSI requirements and is intended for CO and remote deployment in ISAM Flexible Density (FD) and FX equipment.

The NGLT-C provides termination of eight GPON ports (2.488 Gbps downstream and 1.244 Gbps upstream).

SFP (Small Form Factor Pluggable) GPON optical modules can be plugged in on the NGLT-C board. For an overview of the supported pluggable optical modules, see the Product Information manual of your system.

The NGLT-C generates GPON downstream signals synchronized to a timing reference from one of the two NT slots. All other clocks and synchronization signals are derived from on-board oscillators.

The following figures show the position of the NGLT-C in:

    a 7302 ISAM FD subrack; see Figure 1 a 7330 ISAM FTTN FD subrack; see Figure 2 a 7360 ISAM FX subrack (FX-16, FX-8 and FX-4); see Figure 3, 4 and 5.

    5 Functional Blocks

Figure 6 shows the functional blocks of the NGLT-C.

    Fig. 6: Functional Blocks

The functions can be subdivided into the following major sections:

The data plane is responsible for handling traffic between eight GPON ports and two connections to/from the two NT boards.

The control plane, which is responsible for the management functions of the assembly.

The NGLT-C hardware architecture consists of the following functional blocks:

NT PHYsical interface:The PHY interface enables interconnect of user and management data between the LT and the NT. The PHY supports connection rates of either 1Gb/s, 2.5Gb/s or 10Gb/s depending on the NT board capability.Note: The NGLT-C supports 2 uplinks interfaces that can both be connected to a single NT in a FX shelf.

InterWorking Function (IWF):The IWF terminates the backplane interfaces from the PHY. It processes all packets from the backplane and the GPON interfaces, performing packet manipulation and forwarding. It inserts and extracts control and management traffic from the NT and PON/ONT for processing by the OBCM. It also collects statistics such as packet, byte, and error counts.

GPON Interface Module (GIM):The GPON provides GPON MAC/PHY functions and includes the optical interfaces.

On-Board Control Module (OBCM):The OBCM is the core module of the control plane. It acts as the general CPU for the LT. The OBCM also handles processing of control packets for IGMP and similar features.

Traffic Management (TM):The TM provides traffic management functions.

Control and Management Module (CMM):The CMM contains various control, logic, and interface support functions for the OBCM. Examples include reset control, interrupt handling, device addressing, RSSI logic, and various board monitoring functions.

PoWeR Module (PWRM):The PRWM converts and distributes power on the NGLT-C.

ClocK (CLKM) Module:The CLKM generates all system clocks required by the components and interfaces on the board using clock buffers, PLLs and oscillators.

    6 External Interfaces

The NGLT-C has the following external interfaces:

GPON Interface:The NGLT-C downlink interface is a GPON optical interface which supports2.488 Gbps downstream and 1.244 Gbps upstream.

Two 10GE SerDes interfaces:The SerDes interface can auto-negotiate to 1GE, 2.5 GE and 10GE. Those two interfaces work in active/standby mode or in active/active (load-sharing) mode and line up with the NT status.

In simplex configuration, both interfaces can be connected to the same NT board In duplex configuration, one interface connects to NTA and the other interface connects

to NTB (only when deployed in an FX shelf). PSU Interface:

    Power Supply interface.
