Borrowing the Boxes
Each school or group can borrow one box plus one or two other items for three weeks at a time, subject to
availability. In exceptional circumstances we can lend more than one box or set so please ask. For example,
for a project on the 1950s, you may choose to borrow our box "Britain in the 1950s" and a copy of the
Sunday Express 1953.
A full catalogue of the collection is set out on the following pages. Many of the objects lend themselves to
handling sessions. They do not have information labels attached, since this can limit exploration and
deduction by those using them. Instead, you will find a set of Teachers' Notes with each box.
Boxes can be collected from the Museum during normal opening hours (10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., Tuesdays to
Saturdays). Please ring in advance so that we can have them ready for you. Returned loans should be
handed in at the Reception Desk at any time during Museum opening hours, on or before the due date. Please
return them promptly, so that other schools and groups can benefit.
We reserve the right to withhold individual items for use in exhibitions or handling sessions when necessary.
We hope that you will enjoy using the collection and look forward to hearing your comments and suggestions
for future improvements.
