All reservations need to be made before mailing in your conference form as you will need your confirmation number to receive the $50.00 deduction on your registration form. CONFIRMATION NUMBER: ________________________________________ Spacious two room suites are $129.00 plus taxes/single occupancy per night which includes the fully cooked to order breakfast. Each additional guest in the suite is $10.00 per night which pays for their breakfast. The hotel has two restaurants/lounges, the Gateway Grille and Atrium Lounge, that serve value priced American cuisine. There is also a complimentary cooked-to-order breakfast each morning in the open-air atrium. There are many restaurants and shopping areas within a short walk/drive from the hotel. A list and map will be furnished at registration. Guest services include: free parking, indoor pool with spa, fitness facility, whirlpool and sauna. All suites have a refrigerator, coffeemaker, microwave, hairdryer, ironing board and iron. Every room consists of one king or two queen beds with a separate living room which has a sofa bed. Free Wi-Fi in every room and a nightly Manager’s Reception. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THERE BE ANY SALE OF ITEMS OUT OF PERSONAL ROOMS. DOING SO WILL VIOLATE OUR CONTRACT WITH THE HOTEL. Head north on Medical Center Parkway, hotel will be located on the right. The deadline for making reservations at the stated price is September 28, 2016. IMPORTANT INFORMATION

ONE DAY ONLY REGISTRATION – In 2012 the State Board voted to extend the ONE DAY registration to fce members STATEWIDE. The ONE DAY ONLY fee is $30.00. SPECIAL PROJECT – End Slavery Tennessee – The mission for this organization is to promote healing of human trafficking survivors and strategically confront slavery in our state. Their vision is to create a slave free Tennessee. The speaker will be Dana Garrett Montgomery, RN BSN FCN. She is currently employed as the Executive Director of the Rutherford County Health Department. She has worked in public health and community education for more than 20 years. The current needs for this organization are: $25 gift cards from WalMart and Kroger as well as gas cards. They also need items such as: ladies deodorant, body wash, backpacks, earbuds, women’s panties (all sizes), makeup, flip flops, pretty journals/notebooks and adult coloring books with crayons/markers/colored pencils. You can also learn more about this organization at www.EndSlaverytn.org. On their web site they list their current needs and update them often. BREAKFAST is a fully cooked to order meal that is included in your room fee. Breakfast is served from 6:00 to 9:30 a.m. LANYARDS – Please bring your TAFCE lanyard from a previous conference for your name badge. New lanyards will NOT be provided except for first timers. Some generic lanyards may be made available if you do not have one. FLAGS – All county council presidents or their representatives are to bring their county flags for the opening session Parade of flags. Be in the opening session foyer area at 6:00 p.m. for instructions and lineup. Please bring with you a 3x5 index card with your Region, County, and Name of presenter on it. “CREATIVE CONNECTIONS GIFT SHOP” – The gift shop is sponsored by Central Region and will have an array of handmade items for purchase. Do your Christmas shopping with us! You may just find that unique item that you have been looking for. It will be located in Cambridge A. TAFCE EXECUTIVE ALUMNI SILENT AUCTION – Executive alumni members donate items for the auction. The money from the sale pays for the speaker on Tuesday at the conference. Check throughout the conference for bidding times. The auction is located in Broadlands A. NAFCE MEETING – Come see what the National Organization is all about. This is a great opportunity to meet and greet the National Members and ask those questions you have always been wondering about. FIRST TIMERS – This meeting on Monday afternoon is for those who are attending their very first TAFCE conference. It is a great opportunity to learn more about fce, the conference and meet new friends. CONFERENCE TEE SHIRTS/PINS – Tee shirts and pins will be available for ordering with the logo on the front left of the tee shirt. See the order form on page 13, complete and send it in with your registration. Tee shirts and pin orders are on the same form. You may make out one check to TAFCE for registration and tee shirt/pin. 4. DIY Scarf from T-Shirts – Anne Waggoner There are 3 scarf styles to choose from and the project takes 15 minutes or less. There is no cost if the participant brings their own XL t-shirt and a pair of sharp scissors. Cost is $5.00 if the instructor provides the t-shirt. You may choose one for the $5.00 or if you want to make all three styles the cost is $5.00 for each or free if you bring three XL t-shirts.

5. Winter Hat Christmas Ornament – Mary Sue Young, Cost for this project is $1.50

6. Ribbon Angels – Betty Uker Cost for this project is $2.00. Using ribbon and beads you will make this cute angel. Kits are also available at $2.00.

7. Colored Quilt Block – Gail Norton & Shirley Winter, Using crayons and an iron, participants will create a one of a kind quilt block. Cost for this project is $2.00. When completed participants may take home their quilt block or donate it to be used in a quilt to be given to a veteran. Make as many as you want at $2.00 each.

EDUCATIONAL CLASSES

Tuesday – November 1, 2016 Each session will be taught twice from 1:30 to 2:30 and again from 2:45 to 3:45

1. “Connect to the Health Benefits of Essential Oils” Presenter – Bonnie Banks, Doterra Gold Leadership Wellness Advocate with 18 years experience in natural “self-care.” In this class you will learn how to incorporate essential oils into your daily routine. You will also learn how you can use the oils to support your immune system naturally, assist in creating a healthier lifestyle, invigorate your mood, calm anxious feelings, reduce appearances of aging skin or blemishes, rid your body of unwanted substances, and more.

2. “Connect to Beekeeping and Honey” Presenter – Billy Allen is a certified hobbyist bee keeper and certified honey bee inspector by the state of Tennessee. His honey business is “Lynchburg TN Honey.” He has been keeping honey bees about twenty years and operates between 80 and 100 bee hives each season. Mr. Allen will be discussing the start and care of new bee hives, extraction of the honey from the frames, the nutritional benefits of honey, and how important bees are for the pollination of the food we eat. Also he will talk about the three types of bees in a hive and their role in the colony. There should be an opportunity for each person present to sample the fresh honey that will be made this year.

3. “Connect to Safety” – Women’s Safety Presenter – Deputy Justin Grogan of the Metropolitan Lynchburg/Moore County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Grogan has 20 years of law enforcement experience, 20 years of advanced S.W.A.T.T. (Special Weapons and Tactics Training) and 15 years of experience as a school resource officer. He is a certified instructor of chemical, explosive munitions. He is presently the President of the Tennessee School Resource Officer Association and a board member of the University of Tennessee Law Enforcement Innovation. Deputy Grogan will be teaching basic self-defense and awareness in a fun and interactive style. The participant will learn how to protect themselves from assault utilizing everyday items/personal defense. The participant will also develop an awareness of what to look for, or possible dangers in everyday events.

4. “Connect Your Community to fce – Facebook for fce (non profits)” Presenter – Billy Jo Higgins. Billy Jo has a BS in Sociology with concentration in Women’s studies. She is an fce member of Williamson County and president of her local club. She has worked for several small nonprofit entities, and shares this thought: “I had to learn to maximize the pros and acknowledge the cons of living in an internet connected world.” In this class you will learn how to create a Facebook page or group for your club, and how to promote your club and other fce entities using Facebook.

5. “Connect to Your Smart Phone” – What Do You Know About Them? Presenter – Justin Stefanski: Justin, a former agent in Wilson County, is currently employed by the University of Tennessee as an IT specialist and works in the Central Region.

6. “Connect to new fce Members: Hope on the Horizon: Finding, Recruiting and retaining new fce members.” This is a FCL Class - $2.00 cost for material.

Co-presenters Janice Lynch, Central Region Educational Chairperson for Recruitment and Smith County fce member; and, Pamela Sites, Central Region President and Rutherford County fce member. In this class you will be able to explain the membership decline of fce, realize there is “Hope on the Horizon” and be able to formulate a solution to declining membership, understand how to find new members and reactivate less active members, identify tools to recruit new members and recognize the strategies to retain those new members that you recruit.

7. “Connect to Cooking: the Flavors of the Holidays” Presenter Whitney Danhof: M.S. in Home Economics Education, FCS agent from Bedford County. Whitney has worked for Extension for 27 years, writes a seasonal eating blog online and a monthly feature for the Shelbyville Times Gazette. She and Gay Ervin taught the School of Gourmet Arts and Seasonal Eating Demonstrations with over 100 classes and 800 recipes. Come learn how to make the most of the fall produce through a cooking demonstration, recipe booklet and samples for the flavors of the holidays. You’ll gain new ideas for fresh dishes using those familiar (and not so familiar) fall ingredients. So get a start on your holiday entertaining plan with the flavors of the holidays.

Take the hassle out of driving in Murfreesboro and finding a place for dinner by boarding a bus at the hotel and joining other fce club members to enjoy a private, catered meal in Maney Hall and tour Oaklands Mansion, one of Murfreesboro treasures, recently featured on Tennessee Crossroads. In the Halloween season the historic mansion is placed “in morning” to visitors may see furniture and architecture of that period in a spooky ambiance. At the end of the afternoon you will have your own creation and hopefully a new talent you will want to explore!
