    The extraction plant is used for the extraction of vegetable or animal raw materials. The plant consists of 2 extractors which can be operated in 1- or 2-effect operation. Due to the very flexible construction, varying operation modes with variable pressures, temperatures and solvents are possible. The direction of extraction can be chosen either from top to bottom or vice versa. Moreover, the extraction material can be damped and the extraction can take place under vacuum or pressure.

    The plant is used for the concentration of watery or organically dissolved extracts. The plant consists of a plate evaporator with a downstream centrifugal separator. The evaporated vapours are condensed in the plate condenser in the vacuum or at ambient pressure. The evaporation temperature can be adjusted according to the product-specific boiling curve through the applied vacuum. This way, even temperature-sensitive extracts can be concentrated.

    The plant is used for concentration of Ethanol / Water solution by rectification. The feed quantity is charged into the column by a pump and can be preheated by bottom product. After filling the bottom, the steam- heating of the bottom evaporator is started. The entering liquid is in contact with the rising vapours. At the head the enriched vapours are condensed. Part of the condensed liquid is pumped back to the column as reflux, the main part is cooled in a heat exchanger by cooling water and leaves the plant. The bottom is equipped with an overflow by level. The overflow is pumped through a heat exchanger for pre-heating the feed bevore leaving the plant. The plant operates under atmospheric conditions.

    e&e CPP System: Connect - Plug - Produce The plant is ready for operation, incl. switch cabinet, and mounted on a stainless steel frame. Before being delivered to the customer the plant is checked for functioning in e&es workshop. For transportation the column has to be dismounted and reassembled on site. Therefore the column will be delivered without insulation.

    The plant is used for enrichment of aromatic components from the extraction solvent by stripping / rectification. The feed quantity is charged into the column from a buffer vessel by means of vacuum or a pump. After filling the bottom, the steam- heating of the evaporator is started. The entering liquid is in contact with the rising vapours. At the head the enriched vapours are condensed. A share of the condensed liquid is discharged as aroma, the remaining main part is going back to the column (reflux). The final product can be cooled in a heat exchanger either with cooling or chilled water. It will be collected in a buffer vessel. The bottom is equipped with an overflow by level. Two bottoms product vessel can collect the liquid and discharge it vice versa. The plant can operate under atmospheric or vacuum conditions.

    e&e CPP System: Connect - Plug - Produce The plant is ready for operation, incl. switch cabinet, and mounted on a stainless steel frame.     5 SPX/e&e CPP UHT sterilisation plant

    The plant is used for sterilisation of watery or organically dissolved extracts. This is done by heating the extracts up to 145 C by the means of sterilized steam at approx. 3.5 bar g, keeping the extracts hot during approx. 2 - 4 seconds (variable), cooling down by flashing under vacuum and condensation of the vapours. The plant consists of a clean steam generation, a deep sterilisation head with injection nozzle and holding tube, a flash separator with plate condensor and vacuum pump, a feeding tank and several pumps.

    The plant is used for batchwise drying of liquid or viscous products, especially of thickened extracts. The plant mainly consist of the drying cabinet, a tempering device, a vacuum and condensation system as well as a control cabinet.

    The product is poured into drying trays and then shifted onto the heating plates of the drying cabinet. A vacuum is created for drying and the trays will be heated from the bottom by direct-contact heat and from above by radiant heat. The

    evaporating temperature can be adjusted according to the product-specific boiling curve through the applied vacuum so that temperature-sensitive extracts can be dried as well.

    The vapours will be extracted and liquefied in the condenser.

    The plant will be delivered ready for operation and is mounted on a stainless steel frame, incl. a control cabinet. The drying cabinet has a mounting frame with which it can be attached to a wall. Thereby, the anterior part reside in a clean room whereas the posterior part with the auxiliary equipment can be stored in an engineering room.

    The cabinet can be cleaned by wiping it clean or washing it out. For this, the heating plates can be removed separately if required.

    The plant is built ready for operation on a stainless steel frame with height adjustable base. The control cabinet is connected to the plant with 5 m cable harness and has to be installed on the wall next to the dryer door after assembly.

    The plant must be assembled in the explosion-proof area.

    7 SPX/e&e Installation supervision

    ...

    Since the Pilot plants are constructed acc. to the e&e system CPP: connect-plug-produce (plant completely assembled, wired and function-tested in the e&e workshop), the only works remaining on site to be carried out by the buyer are:

    - Allocation and connection of utilities: - steam - cooling water - chilled water - compressed air - electricity

    - Reassembling, duct work and insulation of the columns (Position 4 and 5). SPX/e&e makes one senior supervisor available, who supervises and controls the connection works and tightness tests on site and conducts a first test operation of the plant with water.

    We assume that the period for the SPX/e&e supervision will take 24 days (incl. travel). 24 days SPX/e&e installation supervision incl. travel / flight costs and incurred expenses / allowance.

    Hotel costs (min. 4 star hotel), transfer between airport and hotel, transfer between hotel and construction site as well as an allowance fee (meals) are to be paid by the buyer.

    The estimated 24 days for the SPX/e&e installation supervision shall be conducted without interruption.

    The mechanical and electrical installation of the supply lines (incl. installation material such as pipes, flanges, fittings, etc. in stainless steel AISI 316/316 L) as well as the connection of the plant incl. pressure and tightness tests are to be conducted by the staff of the buyer.

    In case the SPX/e&e supervisor needs more than 24 days and his support is demanded by the buyer, the additional costs will be invoiced at a daily rate of 1.250.- acc. to actual expenditures.

    8 SPX/e&e Commissioning and training

    The SPX/e&e commissioning engineer commissions the completely installed e&e CPP Pilot plants and tests all mechanical and electrical functions. After completion of the functional tests the SPX/e&e commissioning engineer will conduct miscellaneous test runs with water and product that is to be provided by the buyer. - Test production (extraction) with one or more raw materials / products (to be provided by the buyer). - Introduction and training for the operating personnel of the buyer. - Final acceptance.

    Please note: - that the raw material / products for the commissioning provided by the buyer shall demonstrably not be toxic - that the extraction cut of the raw material / products shall have a particle size of 3-5 mm - that the dust content in the product / raw material shall not exceed 20 % - that as solvent solely water or a mixture of water and ethanol will be used

    We assume that the period for the SPX/e&e commissioning und training will take approx. 36 days (incl. travel). 36 days SPX/e&e commissioning and training incl. travel / flight costs and incurred expenses / allowance.

    The buyer ensures the proper supply of steam, cooling water, chilled water, pressed air and electricity during the entire period of the commissioning and training, furthermore the buyer provides sufficient and qualified personnel for the entire period of the commissioning and training. The buyer guarantees that the product / raw material / solvent will be provided in a sufficient amount and quality during the entire period of the commissioning and training.

    The estimated 36 days for the SPX/e&e commissioning and training shall be conducted without interruption.

    Hotel costs (min. 4 star hotel), transfer between airport and hotel, transfer between hotel and construction site as well as an allowance fee (meals) are to be paid by the buyer.

    9 GMP Documentation (OPTION) . . .

    According the EU GMP Guideline SPX qualifies to ensure the required product quality. SPX is not responsible for the GMP relevant room concept, ventilation system or provision of according utilities! The Qualification is prospective (parallel) to the planning, installation and commissioning of the plant and consists of the following steps/documents:

    - URS (User Requirement Specification) - RA (Risk Analysis from plants point of view) - FDS (Functional Design Specification) - HDS (Hardware Design Specification) and SDS (Software Design

    Specification) - DQ (Design Qualification) - IQ (Installation Qualification), Leak Test, I/O-Check, etc. - OQ (Operational Qualification), Alarm Check, Performance Test (with

    water), etc. SPX provides Qualification Plans for the DQ, IQ and OQ which need to be approved by the customer before the corresponding Qualification Steps activities can start. In these steps the Plans are filled out and become reports together with the corresponding annexes. Deviations are documented and rated in deviation reports. If they do not affect the next Qualification Step, that one can start and the deviation reports can be closed later. If they affect the next Qualification Step, they need to be closed before starting it. The following documents are provided for GMP qualification:

    - Tube marking according DIN 2403 with labels - Component marking with Tag-No. with labels - For product contacted components additionally

    - 2.2 test reports according DIN EN 10204-2.2 for material and surfaces

    - Declaration of FDA conformity for gaskets - Welding documentation (manual isometrics, welders
