Please find attached a copy of the D0 letter dated 30th December, 2016 regarding Japan - AsiaYouth Exchange program in Science" also known as the Sakura Exchange program in Science. Inthe aforesaid programme JST invites outstanding high school students for a week and provides themopportunities to see the most advanced scientific technology of Japan and meet outstandingscientists.
In this regard, it is requested that 5 Students and 1 Supervisor/teacher may be selected as pre thespecified eligibility criteria described in the letter for the aforesaid programme and in the detailedprogramme scheduled.

Thank you for your usual collaboration in the captioned SSHP.
At this lime, I am pleased to inform you that. for FY2017. JST has decided to invite via MHRD
outstanding Indianhighschoolstudents and their supervisors who can meet the specified eligibility
criteriadescribed in IheAnnex.They are invited to Japan on the following schedule and groups.

1. SSHP plan in 2017
(1) High school students and their supervisors in your country are invited to Japan on
the following schedule.

(2) Outline of the plan is as follows:
(a)High school students and supervisors will visit Japan for 6 nights and 7days
(b) They will arrive at Narita International Airportfrom a designatedinlemational
airport in India and will leave for the departure airport.
(c) They will visit excellent universities and/or research institutes to get tectureson
advanced science and technology Of hands-on experiments fromtop-notchscientists
andalso to develop experience about Japanese culture.
More specific program conlent to pursue in Japan will be later provided by JST along with a
relevant introductory information booklet to guide these participantsduring their slay in Japan.
2. Eligibility of high school sty dents and suoervisors to be invited
(1) High school students
(a) Who has excellent academic scores especially in science (such as physics, chemistry.
mathematics, etc.) and good manners in school
(b) Whostudies in grade 10, 11 or 12( or equivalent land are over the age of 15 at the timeofam val inJapan
(c) Who has never stayed in Japan before
(d) Who has good health without any chronic disease nor serious food anergy
(e) Who hasvalid Indian passport or can get one well in advance before departure
( OCI holders might be accepted as an exceptional case.)
(2) Supervisors

(a) Who works for a school of accompanying student(sj.en educalion-relatedgovernment
agencyor a public organization.
(b) Who can take good care of high school students during the program

(e) Who has valid Indian passport or can get one well in advance beforedeparture
3. Expenses to be covered by JST
(1) International round-trip air tickets in economy class:
E-tickel will be sent to the selected students and supervisors via MHRD
(2) Accommodation (including meals a~d transportation in Japan):
The participants will be picked up and sent off at the internationalairport in Japan.A bus or
public transportation may be arranged for a local trip. Accommodationwillbe made at a place
reasonably designated.
(3) Travel insurance coverage from passport control at departuretoimmigrationat re-entry
4. Procedyre and timing
(1) First. please select the students and the supervisors who meel Iheeligibililycriteria($ee 2.)
We would appreciate it if you could make a simple llst of them in Englishshowingtheir full
name. residential address. M/F .name of schoolwhere they are enrolled. passport no. and so
forth so that we/JST can qet thetrplcture as a whole.(See the attached sample list)
By February 1,2017
(2) Please have the invitees fill and complete the attachedregislration forms( in MS Excel
format) with personal information as well as passport copy ( biographical page land send
them back all 10 JST .
By February15,2017
Please also have them sign the Declaration form and send the hard copy or PDF 10 JST
by the same timeframe.
(3) JST will separately designate third party for support in passportandvisaapplication. Its clericalsupport serviceswill be at the expenseof JST.
