Ikhlaas (being sincere) is when the slave purifies his deed by refraining from seeking any kind of self desire that ruins the acceptance of that deed. The deed should be done solely seeking Allah’s pleasure. The self desires that

Seeking their help/benefit

Seeking their love

Hoping to be admired, honored and appear ‘great’

in the eyes of people To escape/to be free from their dispraise

Seeking their praise

Seeking to beautify oneself (I,e, to appear *good*) in the

hearts of people

And whoever of you devoutly obeys Allah and His Messenger and does righteousness - We will give her her reward twice; and We have prepared for her a noble provision.” (Al-Ahzab, 30:31)
