The Sacrament of Reconciliation: Confessions are heard each week on Saturday at the Church (SR #46) from 3:45pm to 4:45pm Learn more about this beautiful sacrament by visiting our website: www.allsoulssanford.org/reconciliation The Sacrament of Baptism: Call the parish office to learn the necessary requirements and make an appointment with Father Kenneth Metz to have your child baptized. Ask us about the requirements for Godparents. The Sacrament of Marriage: Getting married? Congratulations! The process of being married in the Catholic Church could take between 6 months to a year to complete. Please contact Ann Cammarata at the parish office as soon as possible after your engagement if you would like to be married at All Souls Catholic Church. Anointing of the Sick: Please call the parish office. The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. Did you know that the Sacrament may be repeated if the person becomes sick again? A person should be anointed before surgery when a dangerous illness is the reason for the intervention. Eucharistic Ministry to the Sick and Homebound: If you are unable to attend Mass, please call the parish office so we may assist you in having a visit from one of our ministers or one of our priests. Catholic Funeral and Burial: Please call the parish office or have the funeral home director contact us to arrange the Funeral Mass and for more information about burial at All Souls Catholic Cemetery. Our Online Homilies: If you missed Mass over the weekend you may view the homily by visiting: www.allsoulssanford.org

The Sacraments

"But the man who received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and buried his master's money." This servant was scared. He didn't want to take any risks and just wanted to play everything safe. As he confesses to his master, "Out of fear I went off and buried your talent in the ground." And the master was not pleased. The other servants who invested the money he gave them were richly rewarded for their efforts to produce more. But this servant was punished for letting his fear rule the day. What factors are keeping us from making a return on God's investment in us? He has given us all life, and each of us also has a special collection of "talents" to make use of. We have certain gifts, skills, experiences, resources, and abilities that (though we may not often think about it) come from God. He calls us to make the most of these things, not just to take them for granted or bury them in the ground, so to speak. Our gifts are meant not just for our own enjoyment, but to help others, to spread truth and goodness and beauty to the world around us. Sometimes, however, we fail to really capitalize on our potential. Laziness, distraction, or self-pity can get in the way if we are unwilling to put in the hard work to improve our natural gifts, if we allow ourselves to zone out with entertainment or frivolous pastimes instead of making good use of the time entrusted to us, or if we wallow in negativity by focusing on what we don't have instead of embracing what we do. Each moment is a gift from God. May we seize every opportunity to multiply the investment God has made in us so that we may be worthy to hear God tell us, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Often people attend Mass at All Souls for several years, but never register. Registering here is a declaration of your desire to be part of a Catholic community and to make a commitment to the life of All

Souls Church. Being a registered parishioner makes the process much easier when it is time for infant baptism, school or religious education registration, weddings, when asked to be a baptismal or confirmation sponsor, and even funerals. A registered parishioner receives all parish mailings, too. Church law advises that territories or boundaries no longer limit parish registration. All Souls accepts anyone who wants to share in the life of the parish regardless of where they live. In order to register, you need to complete a registration card. These may be found in the narthex of the church or chapel, the parish office during the week, or online at our parish website: www.allsoulssanford.org. Why not sign up today?

Thanksgiv ing Day Morning Mass

All parishioners, their families and visitors from out of town are invited to a special Mass of Thanksgiving at 9:00 am at the Church on SR#46 on Thanksgiving Day. Please bring a loaf or two of bread with you to take home or to be shared; at the conclusion of Mass the bread will be blessed. The bread is a wonderful reminder of the Thanksgiving table of the altar around which we, as a parish family, have gathered, to above all, give thanks to God in the most perfect way—the Eucharistic Banquet. Please join us Thursday morning to give thanks for all the blessings we have received this year. Happy Thanksgiving!

What is the purpose of the Holy League? The purpose of the Holy League is to bring men closer to Christ by spending quiet time with Him. We spend the time in Adoration, hear a brief reflection on the life of Jesus the man and the Sacrament of Confession will

be available if any man wants it. We are in a spiritual warfare and our families need men who are ready for the battle. Father Medina invites all men, including their sons. The next meeting of the Men’s Holy League will be held on Thursday, November 30th at 7:00pm, (Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:30pm) at the Historic Chapel.

The Sanctuary Light in our Historic Chapel burns this week in loving memory of Jeanne d’arc Salvail, as requested by Norma & Paul Salvail. May she rest in eternal peace. Our Sanctuary Light in our Church burns this week in Thanksgiving for Blessings Received by the Parishioners of All Souls. Our Altar wine is provided this month by the Spanish Prayer Group. Bless you, and thank you for your generosity to the parish!

Why do we do that? Cathol ic Tradi t ions explained.

Question: If one's gift or talent is making money, and one uses that money for honorable purposes, is it considered a spiritual gift? What does our faith teach us about wealth and stewardship?

Answer: Jesus said it best: to whom much is given, much is expected. All gifts come from God, and our abilities are given to us to be used for the benefit of ourselves and of others and at the service of the Gospel. In an article entitled "The Many Faces of Stewardship," Catherine Doherty wrote about stewardship in the "nitty-gritty everydayness of my life," and about the currency or "money" of spiritual stewardship: love, understanding, and unselfishness. For a gift to have a spiritual benefit, our intention and involvement would be part of the consideration. If I give money to a charity, but do so in order to gain a tax advantage, it could hardly be a virtuous thing on my part. But if I give because I want to help and, in fact, am even willing to get involved, I have committed myself in a deeper, more meaningful way. Regardless of our money-making talents, in the end, true stewardship comes down to how well we practice the virtues of faith, hope, and love within our life and with those in our community and church. Ultimately, the most important element in stewardship is not intangible--it's you! LPI, Inc.

Happy Thanksgiving from your friends with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul! Did you know … All Souls St. Vincent de Paul provided food to 865 individuals or families with a retail value of $36,472? From Part 1: 1.5 of the Society’s Rule (To Seek Out the Poor):

Vincentians strive to seek out and find those in need and the forgotten, the victims of exclusion or adversity. How You Help Us Help Others: During the Harvest Festival, a man won the 50/50 and wanted to share his good fortune. He donated $103 to help St. Vincent de Paul fill in the gaps between what we receive in Angel Tree gifts and those we must still purchase. We remember our benefactors in our prayers. Thank you and God Bless! Angel Trees Are Coming: Take an Angel and bring smiles to a child this Christmas season … the Angel Trees go up on November 25th! Food Pantry Need of the Week: Paper Towels. Last Week: We received 231 items with a retail value of $576. Thank you! This Week’s Vincentian Reflection: The good news of today’s Gospel is the extravagance of what is being given us. All we need do is be faithful in “small matters.” The cost of fidelity has no comparison to the reward given. When you give the furniture, household items and clothing you no longer use to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, you are sharing God’s extravagant love.

Pray for our deceased priests . . .

Every one of God's children is a unique creation with talents and gifts that are found in no one else. Each of us is asked to bring our special "twist" to life and to living the Gospel, leaving our impact on the world in a way that no one else can. Are we ever afraid to use our gifts or to be who we are? Fear can cripple us and prevent us from discovering the profound and creative ways in which we can become the person God meant us to be. We like our comfort zones and do not like to be stretched and challenged. Yet this is necessary if we are going to produce the fruit we are capable of producing and live the radical message of the Gospel. For serious Christians, the status quo has got to go! LPI, Inc.
