330 MW Shrinagar Hydro Electric Project crosses a major milestone with spinning of Unit#1330 MW Shrinagar HEP in Uttarakhand crossed a major milestone when its Unit#1 was spun by Mr. Krishna Ram Bhupal, Director-GVKPIL at 1930 hrs on June 1, 2014. Further, it was successfully brought to rated speed of 166.6 rpm at 1110 hrs on June 2 , 2014. A puja ceremony was also conducted inside the Powerhouse before

the spinning. Many dignitaries were present at the event including Mr Srinivas Sagi, VP-IT & Business Process; Mr Raghunath, VP-Materials; Mr A K Bahadur, Director-Project; Mr Anees Mohd Khan, GM-E&M and other project directors and staff. Congratulations to the entire hydro team on achieving this significant feat.

Jegurupadu CCPP conducted an emergency health awareness session on Cardio Pulmenary Resusciation(CPR) to mark the Electrical Safety Month. The session educated engineers and technians from various departments about CPR procedure in case of an electric shock.

Goindwal Sahib TPP employees and their family members celebrated World Environment Day by participating in a series of events ranging from poster competition, a go green initiative by kids and mass plantation of trees. The event also witnessed employees taking environment pledge followed by prize distribution ceremony.

850 MW Ratle HEP participated in the 1st and 2nd phase of Re-structured Accelerated Power Development Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) for Jammu division. The occasion was graced by Jenab Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of J&K. He said, “Government will revolutionize the power generation in the State and provide upper hand to Jammu and Kashmir in energy availability.” An impressive Ratle HEP stall was displayed along with other power companies like Hensel Electric India Pvt. Ltd., Isotech India Pvt Ltd., JKSPDC Ltd. to name a few.

Queensland Government announced the declaration of the Galilee Basin State Development Area (GBSDA) along the designated route of GVK Australia’s proposed rail line from its Galilee Basin coal projects to the existing Abbot Point coal port. This declaration followed extensive consultation with landowners along the proposed rail line and provides guidance and development certainty to access the geographic area of the proposed rail infrastructure; thus enabling a coordinated approach to the development of the rail corridors.

Tokisud Coal Project constructed a school and equipped it with basic infrastructure means in form of school furniture like desks and chairs under the Rehabilitation & Resettlement scheme.The school will be run by Tokisud project and would cater to children from PAFs. All projects at GVK are taken up keeping in mind the overall devlopment of the community.

GVK CSIA organized the flag changing ceremony at Terminal 2, first time post its inauguration in February this year. The ceremony was carried out in the presence of dignitaries from CISF and Customs. One of the key highlights of the event was the band from Indian Navy, which played the National Anthem to commemorate the occasion.

At GVK CSIA, flash mob play on the theme “Raise your voice not the sea level” was conducted to apprise citizens about the significance of environment.Some of the other key events like distribution of baggage tags with the message WED, tree plantation at Sanjay Gandhi National Park and many more activities followed later. GVK KIA, Bengaluru was equally active with GVK KIA employees planting 108 trees. The airport reinforced its larger commitment to the planet by unveiling its very own Green Map. This map is positioned as an industry best practice to create more awareness on various green initiatives being focused on at the airport.

GVK Indonesia attends TFWA Fair in Singapore The SBU staff attended the Global Travel Retail Tax Free World Association (TFWA) Fair in Singapore during 11th – 15th May. The bi-annual event held each year in Singapore was a great success in terms of promoting AP1 airports and showcasing available opportunities at the Bali airport. During the fair, SBU team together with our airport business partners (Dufry) had one to one meetings with renowned brands such Chanel, Lancome, Estee Lauder and others to maximise the commercial performance.

SBU continues tender process for the domestic terminal After the end of the tender process for the international terminal, SBU continued the tender process for domestic terminal. Domestic selection process on financial negotiations is completed with expected contract sign off soon. The domestic steering committee also met to finalise and recommend the winning companies to BODs. This is a great achievement for SBU strategic team in the journey of transforming the airport’s commercial retail in Indonesia.

Asia’s major low-cost airline, Air Asia announced its presence in India with its maiden flight from Bengaluru to Goa on June 12. On this special day, passengers witnessed dressed ticket counters, red carpet, photo wall, dhollu kunita etc. From next month, the airline would operate regular flights from Bengaluru to Chennai.This development would attract many travellers at GVK KIA.

TAJ GVK celebrates World Environment Week

Tunnel No. -1 of Deoli Kota Expressway Project achieved Day Light on 10th June 2014 at 11:10 PM. Earlier, the Tunnel No. 2 achieved Day Light on 25th April 2014.This is a significant achievement for Deoli-Kota Expressway Project as it takes us closer towards completion of the project.

To mark the most important day on environment (WED), a weeklong celebration was conducted by TAJ Krishna in association with TAJ Banjara and TAJ Deccan. The range of events included, a wellness program by Greenpeace where they educated employees on the concept of Decentralized Renewable Energy ( DRE ).Apart from this, employees also participated in a walkathon, paper bag making competition and tree plantation to contribute their bit towards environment.

Ms Jayalalithaa, CM of Tamil Nadu launches 70 new GVK EMRI ambulances

GVK BIO exhibited it’s expertise at the Asia’s largest bio event - BioTech Japan 2014. The event provided a great platform to network and discuss potential business opportunities with prospective clients and showcase the combined service offerings of GVK BIO and Aragen Bioscience. With over 11,000 attendees, the 2014 show had 572 exhibitors from over 20 countries from Europe, Americas and Asia.

GVK EMRI-Himachal Pradesh conducted Basic Life Support Training for regional hospital nurses and GVK EMRI EMT staff at Sloan. A total of 30 nurses and EMT staff were trained on safe child delivery and to tackle problems associated with it. The training was provided by special trainers from GVK EMRI Hyderabad, Mr Parmeshwar Rao and Ramesh.

GVK EMRI is bringing happiness in the families of new borns by ensuring safe child delivery. In Madhya Pradesh ,three expectant mothers delivered babies at three different locations in GVK EMRI ambulances. Also, a woman gave birth to triplets in one of our ambulances in UP. In all these instances, well equipped ambulances and trained staff ensured safe delivery.

Ms Jayalalithaa, CM of Tamil Nadu launched 70 new GVK EMRI ambulances and 2580 CUG mobile phones for 104 health helpline. A first of its kind in India, 30 new hill ambulances were added that would cater to citizens from mountainous, forest and tribal areas. These special ambulances have a 4x4 wheel drive and can reach inaccessible areas. Also, 40 new GVK EMRI ambulances were added to further expand its services in the state. On this special occasion, Mr K. Krishnam Raju, Director, GVK EMRI and some other government officials graced the occasion with their presence.

World Environment Day Celebrations at GVK EMRI

GVK EMRI-Himachal Pradesh trains Home GuardsAs part of the First Responder Program, 98 Home Guard Personnel were trained on First Aid measures in case of various emergencies. GVK EMRI representatives, Dr. Gitanjali and trainer, Mr Om Raj successfully conducted this training program. GVK EMRI Head-Sundernagar region, Mr Jitendra Kumar briefed home guards on ways to revive unconscious patients through CPR.
