Catherine has years of experience in midwifery and has
delivered these sessions for KPS students over the last three
years. Focus is around the changes that occur in both
females and males going through puberty and allows
students to ask questions. If you have any concerns or
questions about the content of this program, please call me
or drop in for a chat.
This weekend is the annual Whittlesea Show on 3rd and 4th
November and it is an event that students look forward to
every year. Each year student work is submitted in both the
creative writing and art categories. Student work is on
display on both days along with Judge’s awards. This year
some of our senior students also submitted photography
work from their media arts projects. It is always wonderful
to see our student’s great work on show to the public and it
gives them a sense of pride in their work. Students will be
given a free pass to the Whittlesea Show, so if you are not
heading off for the long weekend, perhaps a visit to the
Whittlesea Show is on the cards!
Next Thursday 8th Nov is the first of our 2019 Prep
Transition days. For all students enrolled for Prep 2019 and
any students still considering their options, please come
along and join in the fun and excitement of transition with
Mrs Mac and Chris. Parents dropping off students for
transition are invited to join in our mini-maths session with
younger siblings on Thursday mornings.
Have a great long weekend!

Principals Report
Hello everyone,
This weekend is the Melbourne Cup long weekend, where
the nation stops for the richest horse race in Australia! I
hope you back a winner, if you’re having a bet on the
great race. This also means that we have an in-service
day (student free) day on the Monday 5th Nov, before
Melbourne Cup Day. No students need to attend on that
day. So, whatever you are doing this long weekend, I
hope you are all safe, have fun and are able to get
outside and enjoy the pending sunny weather.
On Monday 29th October, our grade 6 students joined
over 200 other students from local schools in the Wallan
area for their final Leadership Day. Each year I enjoy
taking students to this final day, where students are
inspired by some amazing speakers, participate in some
fun games and meet other students who will be attending
the same secondary school as themselves. Meeting at
Wallan Secondary school, was an amazing opportunity for
our students to be in a secondary school environment
and hear from some of the Wallan Secondary school
students. The day brings with it a feeling of “becoming
real” as our students face the coming transition in their
own lives, as they prepare for secondary school.
Today is Halloween and students are have dressed up in
costume or free dress if they wished to do so. Whether
you participate in Halloween or not, it always makes for a
fun day.
Friday November 2nd, our grade 6 students will have the
opportunity to participate in the annual Puberty Talk
sessions with our qualified mid-wife, Catherine Wheeler.
HELPERS NEEDED
House Sports will be held on Tuesday
27th November and Parent Helpers are
needed. If you can help on this day
between 9.00-11.00am, it will be greatly
appreciated. Please let Mrs Stott or the
Office know.
Thanks
Mason Yehosaphat

Term 4 SRC report to school council After attending our SRC workshop in Term 3 we have refined our focus for the rest of this year and into 2019 around
sustainability and sustainability at KPS.
Current student issues or projects:
1. Veggie gardens need a tidy – work with sustainability captains and gardening club.
2. Have a technology day – students can bring their own tech and we have a day focusing on Cyber Safety,
invite Jane from Seymour Police.
3. Basketball hoops and backboards – 2019 budget!
4. Composting at KPS – need to research best and most practical option for KPS, worm farms?
5. Bin system in classrooms – 3 bins – rubbish, recycling and compost.
6. Water in the sand pit – too wet, unnecessary
7. Little cubby near art room – needs a clean and re-paint
8. Diabetes fundraiser and combine with Walk-Ober?
If any parents are able assist with any of the above projects, the SRC team would be extremely grateful. Please
let us know at the office. Thank you.
