    Job Description

    Job title: Research Associate - Honeycomb Creative Works Project

    Ref: 1399450

    Reports to: Research Co-ordinator, Honeycomb Creative Works project

    Job Purpose

    The post holder will be a Research Associate on a EU INTERREG IVA funded project HoneycombCreative Works. The project, led by University of Ulster with partners Dundalk Institute of Technologyand Creative Skillset, aims to stimulate the growth of the digital content sector in Northern Ireland(outside greater Belfast), west of Scotland and six Irish border counties.

    Key Job Responsibilities

    1. To carry out relevant literature searches where appropriate.

    2. To manage and ensure that deadlines and quality measures are met for the various studies andoutputs identified in the plan for the Honeycomb project and report regularly to the projectsresearch co-ordinator.

    3. To undertake research and analogous activities at an international level in the field of digitalcreative industries and collaboration with other sectors, with particular reference to NorthernIreland, the six border counties and west of Scotland.

    4. To co-ordinate the activities of researchers at the Centre for Media Research, University of Ulster,Dundalk Institute of Technology, Scottish partners and Creative Skillset in benchmarking theindustry within the eligible region.

    5. To collaborate with relevant partners like Screen Northern Ireland, Irish Leaders in TechnologyGroup (California), Creative Scotland, Enterprise Ireland, industry bodies in the eligible area likeDigital Circle, the director of the Northern Ireland Media Academy, HE institutions, governmentalenterprise agencies, regulatory and other policy institutions in the development of the projectsactivities.

    6. To assist in the securing of external funding for the research activities to ensure its sustainability.

    7. To identify and undertake benchmarking visits to centres of excellence in digital media that arerelevant to the eligible area.

    8. To assist in the promotion of the Honeycomb project as well as the organisation of appropriateevents.

    9. To maintain all necessary records and carry out administrative tasks in relation to research asrequired and liaise with the projects web team in the development and maintenance of theprojects databases.

    10. To make public the output from these activities to partner institutions, industry and to relevant

    governmental stakeholders.

    11. Data entry and data analysis using both qualitative and quantitative techniques.

    12. To carry out other duties as may from time to time be required by your line manager related to thesuccessful completion of the project.

    The post may involve travel to University campuses and to the location of the project partners.

    The Universi ty is comm itted to developing al l employees and op erates a Developmental

    App raisal Review (DAR) wh ich is m andatory. You wil l be required to m eet with your manager

    at least onc e every two years as part of the DAR process. If you have l ine management

    respons ibi l i ty for other staff you wil l be required to condu ct a DAR meeting with you r staff at

    least on ce every two years.
