The Performers Polish-born violinist, Magdalena Filipczak, graduated from Music Schools in Malbork and Gdańsk. Since 2004 she has been living in London where she accomplished violin studies (BMus, MMus, MPerf) at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Professor Krzysztof Smietana. In addition to playing the violin, Magdalena studied classical singing with John Evans at the Guildhall School. Currently she holds prestigious Artist Fellowship at the Guildhall School and as a part of the Fellowship she teaches violin at the City University of London. Magdalena is a member of the Artimus Ensemble (www.artimusensemble.eu), Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of the Devonia Concert Series (www.devoniaconcertseries.com). She is also one of the artists of the Zetland Foundation. Magdalena has been successful at numerous International and National Violin Competitions; among many, she is the winner of the 2008 IV Heino Eller International Violin Competition in Estonia. During her studies in the UK she had been awarded scholarships from many respected English Trusts. Most recently she received 2011 Solti Foundation scholarship and has been accepted for an artistic residency at the Banff Arts Centre in Canada. Magdalena is a recipient of the 2010 “Młoda Polska” (“Young Poland”) scholarship which is given to exceptional, young creators of culture by the Polish Ministry Of Culture and National Heritage. Serbian-born pianist, Viktor Bijelovic, has already accumulated considerable experience on the concert platform both as a solo pianist as well as a chamber musician, with concerts in France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malaysia and Yugoslavia as well as Britain, and making several TV and radio appearances. Viktor came over to London at the age of 11 to go to a specialist music school and then on to the Royal Academy of Music where he did Undergraduate and Master’s Degrees. Winner of several prestigious international competitions, he has performed in many important venues, including Sadler's Wells with The Pina Bausch Wuppertal Tanztheater, The Salle Gaveau Concert Hall in Paris and The Kolarac Concert Hall in Belgrade. Viktor was a guest performer at the 2nd ASEAN Chopin International Competition in Malaysia in December 2006. Most notably, he has performed in front of HRH Prince Charles twice - at The Buckingham Palace, to mark the occasion of Prince Charles's 50th Birthday Celebration and in May 2006 to inaugurate the Tent at St Ethelburga's. Viktor’s latest CD includes pieces by Chopin and Liszt as well as his own arrangement of Handel's Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.

St Martin-in-the-Fields has welcomed talented musicians to this central London platform for over 60 years - from highly acclaimed young soloists, to choirs from all over the world; from promising new ensembles, to established professionals. This tradition is supported by the generosity of our performers as well as our audiences. Whilst these concerts are free to all, for those able to give, a suggested donation of £3.50 would be greatly appreciated to help fund all aspects of the work at St Martin’s.
