The PGU series of ammunition is currently in use with the 30mmGAU-8/A Gatling gun on the U.S. Air Force A-10 close-support air-craft.

The MK266 and MK238 HEI-Ts are modifications of the PGU-13HEI, adding a tracer and ATK Low Drag fuze. The MK266 Mod 1uses a non self-destruct version of the fuze for the U.S. MarineCorps’ Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV). The MK238 Mod 1uses a self-destruct version of the fuze. The Low Drag fuzes,produced exclusively by ATK, provide superior arming delay, grazefunction and extended range sensitivity.

These rounds are used in the Bushmaster II or MK44, or any can-non firing 30mm x 173mm ammunition.

The MK239 TP-T is a modification of the 30mm PGU-15 TP, addinga tracer to meet the requirements of the U.S. Marine Corps’Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle (EFV) and other ground vehicleapplications. The round provides a cost effective training roundthat is ballistically matched to the MK266 HEI-T and MK238 HEI-T.

This round was developed for ground vehicle applications whichuse the Bushmaster II or MK44 cannons, or any cannon firing30mm x 173mm ammunition.

The MK268 APFSDS-T has been developed and is currently beingproduced by RWMS. ATK is working with RWMS to provide thisround to the U.S. Marine Corps EFV program and other applica-tions that use the MK44 cannon. The MK268 uses a tungstenpenetrator in a fully spun projectile design that will offer signifi-cant penetration capabilities in a simplified production design.

The ATK 30mm ABM round was developed to meet the need forincreased lethality for infantry fighting vehicles. It is based on ourexperience in the development of air burst munitions for the OICWand XM25. The key to the ATK system is the airburst fuze thatuses a turns and time compensation methodology to provide therequired range burst point accuracy. Our inductive fuze settingapproach is easily integrated into the MK44 cannon and ultimateplatform. This round is currently in qualification.

The LW30mm M788 TP is a low-cost inert training round,ballistically matched to the M789 HEDP cartridge.

Developed and fielded for ATK’s M230 chain gun on the AH-64Apache helicopter, the ammunition is fully interoperable with theM230 Link Fed (LF) gun system. Because of its light weight, smallvolume, and moderate recoil, LW30mm ammunition is ideal forhelicopters, light ground vehicles, and shipboard applications.
