GREETINGS!

Greetings and Blessings to all parishioners of St. Gabriel Parish, Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, and St. Anthony Parish! Although this special “on-line version” of the bulletin is going to St. Gabriel parishioners, I welcome the parishioners of Currie and Westbrook if they have the opportunity to see this. As I write this (May, 2020), we are still awaiting word as to when public weekend Masses might resume in the diocese. Although anxious for the Eucharist, we know that coming back will be a very different experience and that at first our liturgies will be limited to one-third capacity in church. Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and prayers as we all wait for – and work toward – the limited re-opening of our churches.

Camp Summit, at this point is still on.

We will notify those hoping to attend Camp Summit if plans change.

Thank you!

Although Covid stole away the end of our elementary release time year, we’d like to

thank the following faithful people who taught our elementary students (K-6th grade):

Edie Troje, Sherri Boehnke & Sharon Fuerstenberg, Melissa Olsem,

Jill Madison, Petra Jimenez, Suzi Zins & Derek Berning

These people did an amazing job of teaching our kids!

A note from Catholic Charities – As you are probably aware, we have been working with the people of Nobles County since the COVID outbreak started there. Many people donated non-perishable food items and money to feed those who were (and some still are) in need. Groceries were delivered to those in quarantine who were unable to go out to purchase their own groceries. Supplemental food for families has been regularly sent home with those picking up school meals in Worthington. “Food pantries” were set up outside of some of the Worthington churches where people could stop and pick up items. I want to thank everyone who contributed and all those who have been praying for the people who are suffering there. Also, I’m happy to report that it seems the food requests have plateaued, and the organizations who have been heading this up (Sharing Seeds and Our Lady of Guadalupe Free Clinic) have received substantial donations, and are financially stable for the time being, thanks to the generosity of so many. But needs do continue and as we look to the future, we anticipate that there will be many who need help with rent and utilities when protection from non-payment on those living expenses are lifted, especially for those who have not qualified for stimulus money, unemployment, and other types of assistance. So we at Catholic Charities are setting up a fund to help those people who “fall through the cracks” with these expenses. An application form is required (talk to me if you would like one of those), grants will be limited to one $500 grant per household, and money will be paid directly to the landlord, utility company, etc. This fund will be funded 100% by donations and the money will be distributed by request until it is gone. If you would like to donate, please contact me and I will be happy to provide you with more information. Lisa Kremer OFS – Worthington Deanery Parish Social Ministry for Catholic Charities
