Unit 1: Key GrammarPresent tense verbs: er verbs

Most French verbs end in –er. To conjugate an –er verb in the present tense, remove the –er from the infinitive and add the appropriate ending onto the stem:

Le futur proche (the near future)

We use the near future tense (le futur proche) to say what we are going to do. Interrogatives (asking questions)

To form a closed question in French:1) Use intonation i.e say the phrase as it is but raise your voice at the end of the sentence2) Use est-ce que e.g. est-ce que tu aimes l’école ?3) Invert (switch) the subject and the verb e.g. aimes-tu l’école ?

You can form open questions in the same way but you also need to include an interrogative word, such as:
