OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

NGRBA Cell, CPCB Delhi 4

• To assess nature and extent of pollution. • To understand the environmental fate of

different pollutants. • To evaluate effectiveness of pollution control

measures in place. • To evaluate water quality trend. • To assess the fitness of water for different

uses

The Network – Locations

On Main Stem : o Upstream and downstream of major urban areas

o Downstream of Point sources from Industrial & Domestic

discharge

Major tributaries : Upstream of the confluence with the

Ganga

In major drains

At important mass bathing place

Upstream of intake well for drinking water

treatment plants

The Network - Stations

NGRBA Cell, CPCB Delhi

Class I: Indicates the primary stations at selected locations of the Ganga main stem. These will act as impact or baseline stations for maximum parameters

Class II: Indicates the secondary stations at the remaining locations, on the main stem and at important tributaries for limited parameters

Class III : Indicates stations in major drains for selected parameters
