If you have ever had an argument or conflict with your spouse, you have no doubt said some things to your man that you wish you could take back. That is not uncommon. However, when you are trying to either improve your marriage, or worse, recover from infidelity, it is important to be careful about what is said. Let’s touch on three things you should never say to your man.

These three things are areas that can cut a man to the core and leave him wounded, no matter how rough and tough an exterior he may portray. They are as follows:

1) Never say to your man that he cannot provide for his familySaying things like “If you had a real job, we would have a better lifestyle” or “If you weren’t so lazy and went out and made more, we would not be living paycheck to paycheck!”

2) Never say to your man that he has no interest in time with his familyThings such as “You like to spend more time with your buddies playing golf than you do with us!” or “You spend so much time at work, your family doesn’t know you anymore.”

3) Never say he does not contribute to the householdYou don’t want to say things like “Can’t you lift a finger to do something around here!” or “Would it kill you to clean up a dish or two?”

3) Never say he does not contribute to the householdYou don’t want to say things like “Can’t you lift a finger to do something around here!” or “Would it kill you to clean up a dish or two?”

These are three things you should never say to your man because it strikes at the very core of a man. Men have a deep, often subconscious need to succeed in these areas.

If you are finding that your man’s job or occupation is causing challenges for you at home, try to work with him if you want to win his heart and have him give it his all. If you are critical about his abilities to be a breadwinner, your man will often times feel discouraged.

Now before I go any further, let me explain something to you…this is not providing cover or excuses for your man’s poor behavior. Nor is it a claim that you should just throw your hands up and give in. In fact, I will show you that it is quite the opposite.

Besides what you should NEVER say to your man, I am about to reveal to you that you have the ability to make real change here by working with him instead of against him.

Men love praise. Especially from the woman that they love. It is often validation for them that they are appreciated for what they are doing. By encouraging your man, most times you will find that he is willing to try harder. When you cut into him and rip him for his efforts, it is the tendency of a man to simply shut down and go off and “lick his wounds”, so to speak.

So what can you say instead that may help to motivate your man and get the results from him that you desire? Let’s take a look…

1) You should tell your man that you acknowledge his ability to provide for his familySomething along the lines of, “I appreciate your efforts and I know you are working hard. I would like to explore some ways that we can boost our household income and perhaps you and I could look at ways to reduce our household expenses.”

3) You should acknowledge his contribution to the householdYou should say something such as, “I am indeed sensitive to how many hours you are working, I know you work hard at the office. But I have a job, too. I really need more help from you in doing the household chores.”

By using a positive and more constructive approach, you will find that your man is much more responsive to your needs and you may be surprised at just how much effort he puts forth to win your approval.
