Who does not trust enough will not be trusted. Lao TzuDr Stephen R. Covey called trust the glue of life..that holds all relationships. Great leaders place great trust in their team members & their ability to deliver outcomes. They make sure that every member of their team knows that they have his trust by default. Great leaders know that it is alright to start with trust and be proven wrong sometime than to not trust at all and be right always.Leaders, with their attitude of trust, foster a culture that makes it safe for people to try, experiment & innovate. Team members go all out to justify the trust that the leader has reposed in them & usually the payoffs are substantial.

2) Walk Your Talk

People will follow your example, not your advice. Simo AstelOne HBR survey of 19,000 employees around the world concluded that what leaders say is far less important than what they do.Unfortunately, only 25% of our survey respondents said that their leaders model (and not merely talk) sustainable work practices. Those leaders' employees are 55% more engaged, 72% higher in health well-being, 77% more satisfied at work, and 1.15 times more likely to stay at the company. They also reported more than twice the level of trust in their leaders.Let us also look at a study on our simian ancestors. In a study, the anthropologist Lionel Tiger found that the average baboon looks at the alpha male once every 20 to 30 seconds, for guidance. We are not much different. We look to our leaders in any given situation for cues about what is acceptable behavior and what is not.Great leaders demonstrate great consistency between what they say, what they say they will do & what they actually do.

3) Catch People Doing Something Right:

Be an encourager. The world has plenty of critics already. Dave Willis

In his best-selling book, The One Minute Manager, Kenneth H. Blanchard urged leaders to Help people reach their full potential. Catch them doing something right .No one lived this philosophy more than business magnate & philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie Heonce remarked When you work with people its a lot like mining for goldyou move tons of dirt to find a single ounce of gold. However, youre not looking for dirt, youre looking for gold. Carnegie added, I always look for the gold in my people.
