John’s  Hospital.  Cancer  Care  also  holds  regular  cancer

detection camps in villages.

The  walk,

which  was

open  to  all

began with a

session  of

yoga  and  a

warm  up

session  of

Zumba.  T

shirts

commemorating  the  event  were  distributed  to  participants.  A

sumptuous breakfast was also made available.

Speaking on their participation in the walk, Sister Superior, the

Sr. Teresa Mandakath of St Martha’s said, “St Martha’s Hospital

has  always  been  about  providing  quality  care  and  spreading

awareness on ailments as well, through compassion and care.

This cause of prevention and care for cancer is in keeping with

the ideals that St Martha’s tries to promote through all its work.

We  are  happy  to  have  a  large  group  of  our  staff  members

participate in the walk.”

“The 5km walk was quite a pleasure to undertake and that too

with colleagues on a Saturday. Cancer can be a great  leveler

and as doctors  it  is our duty and  responsibility  to be a part of

such  walks  for  a  cause”,  said  Dr.  Giridhar,  Senior  Consultant

and  Unit  Chief  at  St  Martha’s  Hospital  and  one  of  the

participants of the walk.
