    I was reading a statistic in a nutrition book recently, and this is going to shock you...

    Now before I tell you the statistic, let's keep an important fact in mind... according to wellrenowned nutrition author Michael Pollan in his book, n $efense of Food , humankind has

    historically consumed approximately 80,000 different species of edible plants, animals, andfungi, and approximately 3, of those ha!e been widespread foods of the human diet.

    Now get ready for a shocking and appalling statistic...

    "urrently, the a!erage adult eating a typical modern western diet in countries such as the #$,"anada, %ustralia, etc consumes approximately 67% of their total caloric intake from only 3foods && " (N, $ ), %N* + -% /and their deri!ati!es0.

    +hat would be considered a reasonably healthy amount of corn, soy, and wheat in the humandiet1

    2ased on hundreds of thousands of years of human history, and what the natural diet of ourancestors was /indicating what our digesti!e systems are still programmed to digest mosteffecti!ely0, this would probably be in the range of about 4 to 54 M%6 of our total caloriesfrom corn, soy, and wheat.

    "onsidering that modern humans are eating 784 of their total calories from corn, soy, wheat...you can see why we ha!e massi!e problems in our health, and our weight9

    It's not a surprise that we ha!e so many intolerances and allergies, specifically to soy and wheat/and gluten intolerance0 ... the human digesti!e system was simply ne!er meant to consume these

    substances in such M%$$I:- ;uantities.

    soybean oil /hydrogenated or plain refined0

    soy protein

    refined wheat flour

    hundreds of other food additi!es such as maltodextrin, corn or wheat starch, soy lecithin,mono and diglycerides, etc, etc

    his doesn't surprise me... consider how much soda or other sweetened drinks /with loads of="$0 that the a!erage person drinks daily... this is a > of calories from ?ust sole corn

    deri!ati!e. -!en marinades, salad dressings, ketch!p, #reads, and $00 s of other foods contain loads of belly&fattening ="$9

    %lso think about how many processed foods we ha!e that are either fried in soybean or corn oil...and e!en if the foods are not fried in these oils, these oils are additi!es to almost e!ery processedfood... chips, candies, cakes, salad dressings, tomato sauces, burrito wraps, corn chips, breadedchicken, etc, etc. his is a > of calories from these @ other corn and soy deri!ati!es... both ofthem -6 (-M->) #N -%> )9

    n top of that, think about how much breads, cereals, pastas, muffins, and other highly processedwheat products that most people consume each day. %gain, this is > %*$ of unhealthy, blood&sugar spiking, nutrient&poor calories, that more than half of the population has some degree ofintolerance to anyway.

    &t gets e en worse' Not only are we /as a society0 eating 784 of our total calories from corn, soy, and wheat... but because of the economics in!ol!ed /specifically with cheap corn and soy0 we are also feedingmost of our farm animals corn and soy now too... again amplifying the amount of corn and soythat passes through the food chain and /from a biochemical standpoint0 ends up in our bodies.

    Probably the @ worst examples of this blatant mismanagement of our food supply is how ourfactory farmed chickens and cows are fed.

    "ows are fed mostly corn in factory feedlot farms, e!en though their digesti!e systems are only

    meant to eat grass and other forage. his makes the cows sick /hmm... -&coli anyone10, alters theomega&7 to omega&3 ratio of the fats to unhealthy le!els, and also diminishes the healthy ">%fats that would occur naturally in grass&fed beef. %ll of these problems go away if our cows arefed what they were made to eat naturally & grass and other green forage9

    ur chickens are also fed a diet of mostly corn and soy and crowded in tight pens in horrendousconditions... when the fact is that a chicken was meant to roam around the outdoors eating amixture of greens, insects, worms, seeds, etc. +hen chickens are kept inside in tight ;uarters

    and fed only grains, it leads to an unhealthy meat for you to eat, and less healthy eggs comparedto free&roaming chickens allowed to eat an outdoors diet.

    B!t it doesn t stop there...

    ur food supply has gotten so screwed up that we're e!en feeding our salmon and other farmedfish corn and soy...again because of the economics in!ol!ed. ow ludicrous is this, consideringthat fish are meant to eat a di!erse diet of smaller fish, worms, bugs, etc. %gain this makes farmraised fish unhealthy in terms of nutrition compared to their wild counterparts.

    $o e!en when you're eating chicken, beef, and fish, you're still essentially getting e!en M (-corn and soy into your body /from a biochemical standpoint0 ...considering that the cows,chickens, and farmed fish ate mostly soy and corn.

    $o it's actually + ($- than ?ust 784 isn't it9

    (hy is it so !nhealthy to cons!me 67% of o!r calories from corn, soy,and wheat)

    +ell, this section could encompass an entire book, so to keep this short, I'll ?ust throw out a fewrandom reasons...

    $kews the ratio of omega&7 to omega&3 fats in our diet to as high as 3 A , when a naturalratio of A to @A in our ancestral human diet is considered healthy. his imbalancecauses massi!e inflammation in your body, which is a leading cause of many diseases,cancer, and e en weight gain .

    Increasing problems with gl!ten intolerance && related to hea!y wheat consumption thatis rampant these days, combined with foreign gluten proteins that ha!e been formed fromhybridiBation of wheat crops.

    Problems with weight gain, blood&sugar swings, and reduced insulin sensiti!ity /and progression of diabetes0 due to excessi!e refined corn and wheat flours, as well as excess

    ="$ in the a!erage person's diet. &mportant Note the starch in wheat /yes, e!en so&called Cwhole wheatC0 is a uni;ue and problematic type of carbohydrate called%mylopectin&% which has been shown in blood sugar testing to skyrocket your bloodsugar e!en ID -( than pure table sugar... and this can cause hormone imbalances,cra!ings, prediabetes, and weight gain... )ikes9

    $oy and corn are the most genetically modified crops /which also allows more pesticidesand herbicides to be used, which act as CxenoestrogensC, causing hormone disruption inwomen, man boobs in some cases in men, and what's been termed Cstubborn belly fatC in

    both sexes

    $oy products and soy deri!ati!es contain a double&whammy of xenoestrogens as well as phytoestrogens... again creating an en!ironment in your body for fat storage,carcinogenic effects, and e!en Cman boobsC for some men in !ery se!ere cases.
